Friends are okay. There are plenty of people who have coworkers, clients, etc. on each other’s social media. It’d just be if an interviewer calls one of them up they’d have to have their story straight. Some companies require that the only reference they can give is that they worked with you from x to y date and that’s all they can say.

If you have an in, they won't waste time with references. IMO, asking for references is used to filter out people who have fell off of the social ladder. Such as,

- people who burned their bridges and have no professional contacts

- people who were hated at their previous jobs

- friendless basement dwellers

- people who have had nervous breakdowns or are otherwise crazy

etc.
I think it's a way to filter out people who worked for small companies. OK, cool, you won't accept anyone except the District Manager or General Manager as a reference and you want references before the interview, they totally have time for that on a semi-regular basis.

What do y'all do about references? I know absolutely no one,so i am not sure how to go about it when some job applications ask for 2 or 3
How in hell did you end up in a position where you know absolutely no one? Even in this worst case scenario, just go to the local McDonalds car park and cold-approach some randoms with "Hey kind of a funny request, but I just moved here from out of town and...". Guarantee somebody will give you their phone number and agree to lie for you, either out of a sense of compassion or for a promise of like $20 after you get a job.
HR isn’t going to demand a DNA test nor will they do a paper bag test or force you to suck a cock to prove you’re a pansexual or some shit. I think if you got like 5% Iberian DNA you should just put down that you’re a Latinks. All they care about is that they meet their ESG goals, which are to increase diversity amongst the workforce. Hell, put down disability; this is Kiwi Farms, might as well take credit for the autism we all have.
What kind of limpwristed faggot computer-touching jobs are you dickless freaks applying for that you actually think being a pansexual cripple is a draw?

There's also just getting things orderly. I've only had issues when they want references related to the industry/job type of something I'm applying for. I.E. I've applied for clerical jobs in a cement factory and they wanted references from within the industry for some reason.

I applied to a job, had a technical interview, an interview with HR and the last one that was about "Cultural Fit", yesterday they contacted my references. If they bothered to call my references, how good are my chances that I get an offer?
Pretty decent. However if they want to drag it out further by wanting to have more interviews, I’d bail out.

I got a call, I was told basically that a leader from another area also wanted to meet me and then received a google meet invite titled: "Final Interview". They said that the interview is the same as the "Cultural Fit" one, hope it goes well. This job process started early June lmao, this is so tiring

Good! There is a tendency these days to really drag these out. Either on this thread or another I shared about the time they wanted me to travel several states away to meet them…twice. Plus about a dozen other interviews with others to boot. They were just wasting my time. Another former colleague of mine had to bluff another company by saying he got another offer because they were dragging this out for months. Fortunately for him, the bluff worked.

Fortunately the invite saying “Final Interview” means this is likely not going to happen with you. Good luck!

I've been wondering how to present my pay range in a way that i do not low-ball myself and i shoot for the highest base pay possible.I am pretty green in the field but i have a year of experience and finished up my Masters recently.
Try and meet them somewhere just below the highest base pay.

So now that we know that most job ads are placed for the jeet eyes only, how does a white male break into the system?

I'm in Europe, so I'm asking for myself.

Some tips for your CV
  • Start learning a few languages on Duolingo so you can say you're learning them
  • Put a good/photoshopped picture of yourself on the CV
  • Include pronouns in your CV
  • Say you can use a program you have at least basic knowledge in
  • Say you have an ethnic background (non-European is always preferred by the employer)
  • Have at least one normie larp social media account in your CV so your employer thinks you're a normal person

Came to this thread because I'm planning my escape from exactly this type of thing.

Wish me luck.
After dozens of apps and about 15 1st and 2nd round interviews I've got a 3rd round interview this week. Screening went very well, 2nd round with a higher up had a big "cultural fit" component that I aced alongside the usual STAR stories about my skills relevant to the position, and I'm now on to meeting the local team. It seems promising!

Wish me luck.

Currently at a bit of a conundrum with looking for temporary work at a place I’d generally be considered overqualified to be working at, and during interviews I’ve gotten (which is pitifully a small amount) I always end up with the dreaded question of them asking why I’m applying there as it’s not related to what I could do with my qualifications.

I’m wondering if there is a good method to avoid sounding like I’m just using it as a temporary low skill job to get some savings in then dipping (which I am doing).

Depends. What have you been doing before?
