Depends. What have you been doing before?
Selfposting as little as possible, I worked in management positions for the public sector and when I was younger I worked as a server in a restaurant.

My concern isn’t getting across that I have transferable skills, it’s moreso trying to ease the concern they all have of why I’m going for a less skilled job and that im not going to just exit when I need to. It seems to raise eyebrows for them each time.

"I'm looking for better work-life balance. This position meets a lot of the criteria I set out for myself when searching for a new position, so I believe this would be a good match."
"But ma'am this is a Wendy's"
"That's true, but I won't be getting any calls after my shift to ask me to remote-in to cook burgers!"
"Ha ha ha"
"Ho ho ho"

*handshake*

Simple, you are looking for something with less pressure and less responsibility for others. You want to work, but you are done with the sleepless nights over meeting project deadlines and worrying about the jobs of the colleagues you were responsible for. You want simple, honest work.

Important: Pair it with a made-up but personal sounding story of how you had to fire people or how you neglected your family due to your previous work, and how you came to the realization that you can't live with that anymore.

Your personal story will help to bring across what your prime motivating factor was that lead to you seeking low skilled labor. It's crucial not to allow them to make their own guesses about your intentions (since the logical conclusion would be that you will exit that job soon) - so provide them with something.

What are some decent part time jobs that can be done remotely (rate me optimistic I know, it's just that finding a part time job is difficult in person at the moment).
It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find, however, legitimate data entry and AI training is a very nice job, but 99.9% of the listings you'll see for it aren't legitimate. You basically need someone who already has a real one to refer you directly.

If there's anyone here on the farms that actually works in hiring I'd like to hear their perspective. A lot the advice in this thread boils down to "just lie." How easy is it to spot lies like that in a resume? And also what are the biggest factors that make you reject a resume?
Yes: https://kiwifarms.st/threads/job-hunting-tips-and-tricks.201366/#post-20210771

In terms of spotting lies, you should be ready to be able to speak on anything you put on your resume, job application, or cover letter. You never know if the hiring manager is competent or there are certain things they’re looking for and will ask. Or certain things they’re passionate about and you just happen to have something like that on your resume.

In terms of what makes me pass on a resume, the obvious lies are one but I’m not going to give much of a thought to a sloppy resume that has glaring spelling and formatting issues. At least pretend you give a fuck. Also if you’re going to show up late to an interview, don’t bother showing up at all. Shit happens and that’s why you prepare and get to the interview early. If that’s still not enough, call in advance. Employers can and will be picky in this current environment and having a half assed resume or showing up late is a great way to get filtered out.

I think retail is the only option right now. I want to get away from the paper pusher crap and what I need now is advice on how to hide my MA and non-retail work from my resume so it can be one page.

Just looking for short-term work in a deli or something for the holidays. 20x6 (2026) will be my year.

If you're serious about that, approach it as if you have no resume. Don't provide a resume. Just act eager throughout applying and interviews and retail will slot you in where they want you in no time.

I'd rather not work than be a manager ever. I just can't do management. Telling other people how to do something isn't my style... I'd rather just do what needs to be done!
You could get also get a seasonal job at a packing/sorting facility. It's hard work, but you won't lack in being told what to.

I would not do well there. I have no good experience in that. Specifically looking for holiday kitchen work just to keep some sort of income. Where I can get free food (I'm too honest, thuogh. I'd actually pay the discount price at Erik's Deli instead of taking it like all the others!)

'I can't do this, or that, or the other thing'. Christ go be homeless under a bridge then. Just work landscaping or a warehouse or some shit that literally anybody can do.

Psssst. you want in on a cool 'secret'? Consider this my gift to the chronically unemployed and unambitious. Not that theres anything inherently wrong with not wanting to sell yourself your entire life to the Man for some bread.

Unable to keep up with life in the fast lane as an entry level retail drone? Can't play with the big boys on the Amazon warehouse floor. Just hate interacting with people as a restaurant clerk? Consider security.

Daytime gigs tend to be more demanding and you'll often be asked to perform specific tasks like checking people in or out but still depending on what type of post you get it can make other entry level jobs like restaurant drone or amazon warehouse drone look like rocket science.

But of course what you want to aim for are night shifts for dead buildings. Its one of the easiest common entry level jobs I can think of. And the bar for qualifications are rock bottom. Just be able to walk to the office to ask for the job. And in some states get a guard card. And believe it or not If you can follow simple instructions every night you'll be a rock star since this job tends to attract a notoriously unreliable cohort. I knew someone who was caught multiple times sleeping on the job and he was employee of the month compared to some of the others.

Now for the bad stuff:
in recent years women started entering into this previously male dominated profession, increasing competition.

Its a job that if you are successful in is easy to get complacent and all of a sudden its 20 years later and you are in the same spot.

You've missed the salad days of pre early 2000s before the invention of electronic monitoring tools when the job was even easier.

pay is crap and theres not much skill transfer or chance for advancement other than what you can study on your downtime. Which you can have a lot more of than other jobs.

Any good way to have your job application stand out against the hundreds of jeets applying?
Nepotism and a resume that wasn't written by chatGPT. I autosend chatGPT resumes to the bin because it's a flag for retards unable to write a 1 page document without help. Also make sure you're not trying to go after the exact same highest profile job that literally everyone else applies for. I don't know your field, but if you're software try basic bitch shit like banking and insurance jobs. Google will make you dance like a monkey for 6 months before making a decision.
