As a nonbeliever, I find praying 5 times daily to be hilarious. If the act is considered fun or amusement by westerners and non-Muslims, it is haraam.
I was just about to post the very same thing. It's just so fucking outrageous.Guys, Salafis actually believe that Islam is the religion of peace.
Bolded text is my own emphasis. Underlined text in parenthesis is my own commentary.
Islam is a peaceful religion with those who are peaceful
Question: In the event of what has happened in Kenya today, and has happened in many other countries, how can Islam be called a peaceful religion?
Answer:
Praise be to Allah.
Islam is a peaceful religion because Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, has called Himself as-Salaam (the One Free from all defects; this word also means ‘peace’), and Islam is His religion that He has approved of for mankind. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“He is Allah than Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah! (High is He) above all that they associate as partners with Him”
[al-Hashr 59:23].
Islam is a peaceful religion because it forbids mischief on earth (just so you guys know, examples of "mischief" are homosexuality, extramarital sex, and women's liberation). Allah, may He be glorified, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“and do good as Allah has been good to you, and seek not mischief in the land. Verily, Allah likes not the Mufsidoon (those who commit great crimes and sins, oppressors, tyrants, mischief-makers, corrupt)”
[al-Qasas 28:77]
“Verily, Allah enjoins Al-Adl (i.e. justice and worshipping none but Allah Alone - Islamic Monotheism) and Al-Ihsan (i.e. to be patient in performing your duties to Allah, totally for Allahs sake and in accordance with the Sunnah (legal ways) of the Prophet SAW in a perfect manner), and giving (help) to kith and kin (i.e. all that Allah has ordered you to give them e.g., wealth, visiting, looking after them, or any other kind of help, etc.): and forbids Al-Fahsha (i.e all evil deeds, e.g. illegal sexual acts, disobedience of parents, polytheism, to tell lies, to give false witness, to kill a life without right, etc.), and Al-Munkar (i.e all that is prohibited by Islamic law: polytheism of every kind, disbelief and every kind of evil deeds, etc.), and Al-Baghy (i.e. all kinds of oppression), He admonishes you, that you may take heed”
[an-Nahl 16:90].
The blood of the peaceful individual (one who is living under Muslim rule or who has been granted the protection of the Muslim state) is regarded as sacrosanct to such an extent that transgression against a single individual with no justification is regarded as equal to transgression against all of humanity (note that kafir living in non-Muslim countries are not counted as "peaceful individuals" whose blood must never be spilled). Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind. And indeed, there came to them Our Messengers with clear proofs, evidences, and signs, even then after that many of them continued to exceed the limits (e.g. by doing oppression unjustly and exceeding beyond the limits set by Allah by committing the major sins) in the land”
[al-Maa’idah 5:32].
Islam is a peaceful religion that allows followers of other religions to live in the Islamic state and practice their religion without putting any pressure on them. They are the ones who are known as ahl adh-dhimmah or ahl al-‘ahd (those living under Muslim rule and enjoying the protection of the Muslim state). They are granted complete rights that are not granted to them by the most democratic countries nowadays (this is fucking bullshit and an outright lie. Take a glance at the Pact of Umar and tell me that it provides more rights than democratic countries. It absolutely doesn't).
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) ruled Madinah when there were many Jewish tribes living there, and he established a constitution between him and them which required all citizens to defend the state and strive together for its wellbeing, and granted security to them, their property and their children, with freedom of worship, trade and travel. They mixed with the Muslims to such an extent that they used to invite the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) to meals in their homes, and he would accept their invitations. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) also gave them the right to judge matters amongst themselves according to their own laws (was that before or after Muhammad and his followers expelled the Jewish tribes from Medina and slaughtered 800 Jewish men?).
This is how the Rightly Guided Caliphs who succeeded him also acted; they did not shed anyone’s blood on the basis of identity, ethnicity or religion. Rather they resisted the aggression of hostile parties, supported those who were weak and oppressed in the land, and strove to spread the religion of Allah (lol, yes they killed people for no reason. I'm not even going to bother linking all of the atrocities that occurred in Islam's early days because that shit is easily Googleable), call people to Him and tell them about Him: “so that those who were to be destroyed (for their rejecting the Faith) might be destroyed after a clear evidence, and those who were to live (i.e. believers) might live after a clear evidence” [al-Anfaal 8:42].
The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “If anyone wrongs a mu‘aahid [non-Muslim living under Muslim rule], detracts from his rights, burdens him with more work than he is able to do or takes something from him without his consent, I will plead for him (the mu‘aahid) on the Day of Resurrection.”
Narrated by Abu Dawood (3052); classed as hasan by Ibn Hajar in Muwaafaqat al-Khabr, 2/184; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood
It was narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever kills a mu‘aahid will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, although its fragrance may be detected from a distance of forty years.” (it'd sure be nice if more Muslims actually listened to this bit of Muhammad's advice instead of persecuting non-Muslims to this day).
Narrated by al-Bukhaari (3166)
The basis for all of that is the verse in Soorat al-Mumtahinah in which Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity.
It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that Allah forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the Zalimoon (wrong-doers those who disobey Allah)”
[al-Mumtahinah 60:8-9].
(This is still something that can be easily misconstrued by extremists. Instead of saying "turn the other cheek," Allah says you're allowed to strike out at and not befriend those who fight against your religion... which terrorists believe all Westerners to be)
And Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah and be just witnesses and let not the enmity and hatred of others make you avoid justice. Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do”
[al-Maa’idah 5:8].
Al-Baydaawi says in his Tafseer (commentary on the Qur’an) (303):
That is: do not let your intense hatred for the mushrikeen (polytheists) cause you to fail to be just towards them and thus transgress against them by doing things that are not permissible, such as mutilating the dead, slandering them, killing women and children, or breaking treaties, because of the resentment in your hearts. End quote.
Although Allah has instructed His slaves (wow, I'd sure love to join a religion where I'm God's slave) to show enmity towards the disbelievers with regard to their religion and to disavow them, that too is governed by the definitive general principle, which is to treat them justly and fairly, and not to wrong or mistreat them.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
Justice (or fairness) is obligatory upon everyone towards everyone in all circumstances, and injustice (or unfairness) is not permissible under any circumstances, to such an extent that Allah, may He be exalted, has enjoined the believers to treat the disbelievers with justice, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Be just: that is nearer to piety, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do”
[al-Maa’idah 5:8].
The believers treated the disbelievers justly in accordance with the command of Allah, because Allah told them: do not let your hatred of the disbelievers make you fail to treat them justly; rather treat them justly, for that is nearer to piety.
End quote from Majmoo‘ al-Fataawa, 30/339
This is the “code of conduct” that governs Muslim practices and highlights to you the peace, justice and security that Islam brought to the inhabitants of earth.
But if you want to judge Islam on the basis of the actions of some of its followers and adherents, then you must let us judge Christianity and Judaism based on the actions of some of the followers of these two religions too. How can it be said that Christianity is a religion of love when we see that the holy war (crusade) that was declared by the US president Bush (the son) is killing hundreds and thousands of people in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq?
Even if we accept that al-Qaeda has attacked peaceful citizens in the USA, and we overlook the reports and studies that suggest otherwise and point to the involvement of intelligence agencies, can that aggression be warded off by occupying other countries? If Afghanistan was occupied in order to strike at al-Qaeda in that country, then why was Iraq occupied, which led to the killing of thousands and widespread abuse of prisoners [Abu Ghraib], and put an end to the peace and security that existed before the occupation, so that rivers of blood could continue to flow because of the consequences of occupation?
How can it be said that Christianity is a religion of love, when we see complete support for the Zionist occupation of Muslim lands, the expulsion of millions from their homes, the imprisoning of hundreds of thousands, and the wholesale replacement of one people by another? Didn’t the Jews live in peace in Palestine and other Arab lands before the establishment of the state of Israel? So why this occupation? And why do Western countries continue to support this usurper state? Why does the Christian West support this state, and why was it given the Balfour declaration by Great Britain in order to kill Muslims and stir up the grave turmoil, trouble and war that resulted from the planting of the Zionist entity in the region?
What do you want us to tell you about the current situation that is filled with terrorism of Christian states and the blood they have on their hands, represented by the new conservatives in the USA, Britain and elsewhere?
(There's way to much to get into, because basically everything they just said is stupid and wrong (especially the shoehorning in of Israel). But I'd like to point out a common misconception that is held by many non-Western Muslims. In the vast majority of Muslim-majority countries, the countries culture and overall actions are seen as an extension of Islam; this is because there is no separation between Church and State in Islam. So many Muslims who aren't familiar with the West (meaning, they don't know about the West outside of the propaganda they've been fed by their leaders) don't understand that there is a very distinct difference between Christianity and Western culture. The actions of Western countries do not reflect Christianity, even though the majority of citizens/politicians may be Christian. This is because we have a separation between Church and State.
Or do you want us to tell you about the armed Christian terrorist groups, of which there are more than forty-one, and more than twenty-two militias in the USA alone? If we were to list for you the operations that these groups have carried out throughout the world, it would take far too long. How about if we listed all the terrorist groups throughout the world, which are motivated by racist or religious beliefs, all of which have emerged from the Christian world (how about we talk about the fact that the vast majority of terrorist organizations are Muslim? Do you guys really want to go down that rabbit hole?)?
But let us set all of that aside. Why should we delve so deeply into the Western world? Have you not heard about the Muslims in Central Africa, and the massacres and atrocities to which they are being subjected?
Have you heard about the offenses being committed against the Muslims in Myanmar, before the eyes of the entire world?
Do you want us to tell you about the past? The pages of history are filled with the Crusades in which the Muslim lands were occupied and their blood was shed for hundreds of years (once again, the Crusades is all they can point to. And again, the Crusades were partially motivated by the fact that Islam had conquered most of the Christian world and kept trying to push into Europe)?
Do you want us to tell you about what happened to the Muslims in Andalus (Spain) and the atrocities carried out against them by the Inquisition (YOU GUYS WERE ONLY IN SPAIN IN THE FIRST PLACE BECAUSE YOU INVADED IT)?
Do you want to us to tell you about the atrocities committed by European colonialists – French, British, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch – in Muslim lands (while some of these atrocities were motivated by Christian missionary, most were committed for non-religious reasons)?
Nevertheless, we – as an independent Islamic research organization – cannot accuse Christianity, in the form that Allah sent down to the Messiah ‘Eesa ibn Maryam (Jesus son of Mary – peace be upon him), of being a religion of terror or aggression; rather it was a religion of peace, as were the religions of all the Prophets. Rather terrorism occurrs among some of the followers who distort the divinely revealed books, or follow their own criminal agenda, or get confused and they are deceived by the Shaytaan (Satan), so they begin to shed blood, transgress sacred limits and provoke wars throughout the world.
We believe that we can find a great deal of common ground if we agree to respect treaties and covenants, and restore people’s rights in Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq, and other countries that have long suffered oppression and occupation, and the plunder of resources, sometimes in the name of freedom and sometimes in the name of fighting terrorism. At that point we will be able to find a way to debate calmly and wisely, for we are the people of this call, as Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Invite (mankind, O Muhammad SAW) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Quran) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.
And if you punish (your enemy, O you believers in the Oneness of Allah), then punish them with the like of that with which you were afflicted. But if you endure patiently, verily, it is better for As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.)
And endure you patiently (O Muhammad SAW), your patience is not but from Allah. And grieve not over them (polytheists and pagans, etc.), and be not distressed because of what they plot.
Truly, Allah is with those who fear Him (keep their duty unto Him), and those who are Muhsinoon (good-doers)”
[an-Nahl 16:125-128].
And Allah knows best.
Emphasis added. The kaafirs whom the Muslims fight and inflict harm and loss upon are the kaafirs who fight the Muslims and drive them out of their homes, or help to drive them out of their homes and punish and mistreat them, and who stand in the way of calling people to Islam and prevent people from following the path of Allaah, and prevent the spread of Islam.
Praise be to Allaah.
The Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to sleep on his right side, putting his right hand on his right cheek, and this is what the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recommended others to do. According to a saheeh hadeeth narrated from al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib, the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When you go to bed, do wudoo’ as if for prayer, then lie down on your right side…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, al-Wudoo’, 239). The Sunnah is to put one’s right hand under one’s cheek. It was narrated that Hudhayfah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said, “When the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to bed at night, he would put his hand under his cheek, then say, ‘Allaahumma bismika amootu wa ahyaa (O Allaah, in Your name I die and I live).’ Then when he woke up he would say, ‘Al-hamdu Lillaah alladhi ahyaanaa ba’da ma amaatanaa wa ilayhi al-nushoor (Praise be to Allaah who has brought us back to life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection).’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6314).
Ibn Hajar said: The right side is singled out for a number of reasons, such as: this lets a person wake up more quickly; it also allows the heart to lean towards the right hand side. Ibn al-Jawzi said: the doctors have stated that this position is more beneficial to the body. They said to start by lying on the right for a while, then turn over to the left, because the former aids peristalsis and sleeping on one’s left side facilitates digestion.
Al-Nawawi said: this hadeeth mentions three acts that are Sunnah, the first of which is doing wudoo’ before going to sleep. If one already has wudoo’, there is no need to repeat it, because the aim is to go to sleep in a state of tahaarah (purity). The second is to sleep on one’s right side…
This indicates that sleeping on one’s right side is Sunnah, and if a person does that to follow the example of the Prophet SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), he will be rewarded for that. Sleeping on one’s left side is permitted, but one misses out on the reward for following the Sunnah. And Allaah knows best.
Salafism and Wahabism are built around the idea that, basically, your life needs to be as close to (their vision of) Muhammad's as possible. Hence all the skepticism about technology: in their ideal world, all technological development would have stopped on the day Muhammad died (sociocultural development wouldn't exist at all, since the only three acceptable behaviors are "worshiping Allah", "killing kuffar", and "sustaining vital functions" (and I'm not entirely sure what their stance on the third one is).You know, I am dumbfounded to what degrees these mentally challenged dipshits sometimes go and what questions they put forward:
"Can I sleep on my left side sometimes ?"
https://islamqa.info/en/14033
What can you say about the interpretation of a religion, where even the fucking side that you sleep on is something to contemplate.
And even with an idiotic topic like this, they feel a need to shoehorn in some insane made up reason why sleeping on the right side is good from a medical point of view.
I guess they feel a need to validate their cavemen idols by inventing reasons why this is actually healthy.
It's finally occured to me what this site reminds me of. It's like the world's most fucked up "Dear Abby" column. Just change the tone and throw in some silly names and you're golden.
Dear IslamQA: My wife made this delicious lentil and falafel meal the other day, and I complimented her on a job well done. Was that wrong of me? Sincerely, Lentils and Love.
Dear Lentils: Yes. You didn't hit her enough times while doing so. If she could see, you did it wrong. You're going to Hell. Allah knows best. -Sincerely, IslamQA.
They're really strict with how you do NasheedsWhat the fuck are Nasheeds for then?
https://islamqa.info/en/11563There are conditions to which attention must be paid with regard to this matter:
Not using forbidden musical instruments in nasheed.
Not doing it too much or making it the focus of the Muslim’s mind, occupying all his time, or neglecting obligatory duties because of it.
Nasheed should not be recited by women, or include haraam or obscene speech.
They should not resemble the tunes of the people of immorality and promiscuity.
They should be free of vocal effects that produce sounds like those of musical instruments.
They should not have moving tunes which make the listener feel “high” as happens to those who listen to songs. This is the case with many of the nasheeds which appear nowadays, so that the listeners no longer pay any attention to the good meaning of the words, because they are so entranced by the tunes. And Allaah is the Source of strength.
If what you did was urgent training to prepare to meet the Jewish enemy, then it is permissible for the one who wants to meet the enemy to help himself by not fasting and thus strengthen himself for fighting. But if what you did was training that could have been delayed, or was a parade after which you would not meet the enemy, then it seems that it was not permissible for you to break the fast.
Islam should be praised for how it was spread by the Sword.
https://islamqa.info/en/43087
So the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told his commanders to call the kuffaar to Islam whilst wielding their swords over their heads. If they refused to become Muslim then they should pay the jizyah with humility. If they refused then there was nothing left for them but the sword – “If they refuse then seek the help of Allaah and fight them”
4 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I have been sent ahead of the Hour with the sword so that Allaah will be worshipped alone, and my provision has been placed in the shade of my spear, and humiliation has been decreed for those who go against my command, and whoever imitates a people is one of them.” Narrated by Ahmad, 4869; Saheeh al-Jaami’, 2831.
The fact that the sword and power were means of spreading Islam is not a sources of shame for Islam, rather it is one of its strengths and virtues, because that makes people adhere to that which will benefit them in this world and in the Hereafter.
This is something for which Islam deserves to be praised, not condemned. The defeatists should fear Allaah lest they distort this religion and cause it to become weak on the basis of the claim that it is a religion of peace. Yes, it is the religion of peace but in the sense of saving all of mankind from worshipping anything other than Allaah and submitting all of mankind to the rule of Allaah. This is the religion of Allaah, not the ideas of any person or the product of human thought, so that those who promote it should feel ashamed to state its ultimate goal, which is that all religion (worship) should be for Allaah alone. When the ideas that people follow are all produced by human beings and the systems and laws that control their lives are all made up by human beings, then in this case each idea and each system has the right to live safely within its own borders so long as it does not transgress the borders of others, so the various ideas and laws can co-exist and not try to destroy one another. But when there is a divine system and law, and alongside it there are human systems and laws, then the matter is fundamentally different, and the divine law has the right to remove the barriers and free people from enslavement to human beings…
Fiqh al-Da’wah by Sayyid Qutb, 217-222.
It says in Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (12/14):
Islam spread by means of proof and evidence to those who listened to the message and responded to it, and it spread by means of force and the sword to those who were stubborn and arrogant, until they were overwhelmed and became no longer stubborn, and submitted to that reality.
Islam is literally the religion of "It's okay when I do it".The fact that the sword and power were means of spreading Islam is not a sources of shame for Islam, rather it is one of its strengths and virtues, because that makes people adhere to that which will benefit them in this world and in the Hereafter.
So they can be then in turn be slaves to Allah? Fuck that noise. But when there is a divine system and law, and alongside it there are human systems and laws, then the matter is fundamentally different, and the divine law has the right to remove the barriers and free people from enslavement to human beings
It's the same aweful idea of "the end justifies the means" that brought us the inquisition...By being kidnapped and enslaved by Muslims, their eyes were opened to the one true religion. In other words, it's better to be enslaved by Muslims than to live as a free kaffir.
You know, at this point, I wonder if there's an arabic idiomatic expression that translates to "religion of peace" and if that's the case, what connotations the arabic word for "peace" carries in that instance.
It would not surprise me if they used a word that has a very heavy connotation of "Peace under the one true religion" or something like that, that directly implies that the goal of Islam is to unite everyone under the umbrella of one religion, either by conversion or by putting all non-believers to the sword - and thus achieving "peace".
