Not white-knighting or anything, just saying that this is one thing that it might not be fair to hold against him. The fact that he refuses to acknowledge this, however, is totally fair game.
You're not white-knighting, you're being thoughtful and considerate, and you definitely have a point. Generally speaking, I don't talk much about someone's looks. It can be cruel and, as you pointed out, unfair. I'd be willing to bet that Sweet has some kind of genetic or health issue that makes him look the way he does. The problem, however, is with his behavior. On this very forum, Jon said the following:
"All I have to do is get back into shape, buy a hairpiece, and see a doctor about my laryngitis, then I could rent an apartment near campus and pass myself off as a University student tomorrow. Women would approach me freely just as they did back then."
Okay, this isn't merely his dysfunctional perceptual capabilities talking, this is Jon being a selfish, myopic pig. "All" he has to do to get "women" to approach him "freely" is disguise himself as an underclassman. This, in it's own insipid way, is
manipulative. Because he thinks he's just as attractive as he was nearly twenty years ago, he can activate the Pavlovian effect inside of every twenty-something woman, and just sit back and let the chicks roll in. Apparently, they'd be so overwhelmed by his magnetism, they'd be unable to recognize the fact that he'd be
twice their age. Because, you see, women are dumb, naive, and horny.
What's more, he expects a woman to come to his dorm, keep her mouth shut until told otherwise, do whatever he wants, and leave at his command. This is nakedly selfish, and incredibly egotistical.
The thing of it is, Jon doesn't take into consideration the fact that he's wholly unappealing, in both behavior and body. Whatever physical issues he has that make him so ugly, the fact remains that he's lazy, hateful, incompetent, stupid, immature, helpless, lascivious, ignorant, not in control of his life, and, most obvious of all,
really quite disturbingly ugly. For him to think that women would throw themselves at him under
any circumstance is both baselessly arrogant and delusional.
This balloon of unfounded arrogance is fun to pop. Finally confronting Jon about his "ex", and the idea that chicks would just flock to him once he got back on campus by pointing out just how bug-ugly he is (and was when he was younger) really felt
good.
