do you guys know any found footage movies that arent trash
the only ones ive seen are the blair witch project, rec, and deadstream

I liked The Bay a lot. It tries to cover a much different horror territory than most found footage movies, and I thought it succeeded pretty well.

Noroi: The Curse been mentioned by me and others on the thread as one of the best in the found footage genre.

Koji Shiraishi is your man! Noroi is great like The Nothingness said, and I also highly recommend Occult (2009)
I enjoyed As Above, So Below.
I thought the idea of as above so below was great, but the execution was flawed. The last act needed more tension, it was more confusing than scary.

Psychic Vision Jaganrei was pretty nice, especially for being 1988 and waaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the found footage curve

Horror on the high desert is pretty good
I also recommend this. A real slowburn of a movie, there's really not any true "scares" until an hour in, but the last bit of the movie is tense as fuck.

Also watched Late Night with the Devil and it was alright. Some of the special effects (the guy vomiting at the camera, the co-host getting zapped by his instrument) were early 2000s levels, but the rest were decent. I wish the possessed girl waited literally two minutes to start acting creepy instead of doing so the second she sat down, it just bothered me. The ending was pretty crazy, really dialed shit up quick as hell, getting most of the kills of the movie within a span of a minute or so. I like the concept with a 70s talkshow getting taken over by a demon while live, it's pretty unique stuff.

Horror in the High Desert has been mentioned already, but the sequel is also worth a watch too. The plot is kind of all over the place compared to the fairly tight story of the first one, but it is much faster paced and the crusty actors they get to play the Nevada yokels are more believable in the sequel.

The third one seems stuck in limbo for some reason and was supposed to release on VOD in April.

I'm not sure if it's here but, "The Night House" was an amazing movie IMO. One of the few films that actually has a reason for the lead to be a woman, and is better off because of it. I think a good way to describe it would be sort of like a horror love story, and not because of some shitty obsession plot.

Finally got around and watched "Infested", been awhile since there has been a good spider horror movie and Infested delivered. Hell might even beat Arachnophobia. If you like, or hate spiders, give it a watch. The only bad thing I can say is that the last 3rd of the movie kinda dips and it felt like they really had no idea where to go direction wise.

Another found footage film I enjoyed was The Borderlands or as it was released in the US Final Prayer

A trio of investigators are sent by the Vatican to research a recently-reopened and reconsecrated 13th century church in the English countryside that was supposedly the site of a miracle, and after a dubious start it appears there was a miracle all right...but the wrong kind.

"Have a cracking day, mate. Good luck with Edward Woodward." - the trio's layman tech's sarcastic reply to one of the uncommunicative villagers after his query for directions is answered with sullen silence.

The VHS series is pretty good, though it has a problem where because its an anthology series, it can vary in quality. There are some amazing entries but there are stinkers. Though VHS: Viral is objectively the worst one of the series.

But some quick recommendations I can make, some of which echo some people ITT are Cloverfield, Noroi: The Curse, Gonjiam; Haunted Asylum, and Borderlands.

The Tunnel is free on YouTube and, in my opinion, is incredibly solid.
I saw The Tunnel, its fine, but it felt like the tension was not there by immediately giving away who will live.

I watched Apostle last night, it's pretty good. It takes some time to get going, but when it does it's pretty intense. Very strong Witcher 3 crone vibes throughout, that kind of Celtic/Nordic folk horror thing.

I also watched Kill List again last week, apparently my brain craves Anglo folk horror. It's such a great movie. It doesn't feel like a movie, it feels like you are spying on a guy who is being manipulated by a cult. I'm tempted to check out Into The Earth, by the same director, but the reviews are too polarised. Has anyone here seen it and what did you think?
