4* don't really matter in the long run. Mihoyo won't be able to keep up development on 4* since 5* are what make them all their money. That's likely why Hutao was shifted from 4* to 5* and they are reliant on rerunning 4* every banner.

The weapon banner is bad though, unless you just want the 4* weapons and don't care which 5* you get.

What do people think about the lantern festival addiction to this old skinner box of a game?

Its like if you could play an advent calendar as well as the slowest TD game ever made.

Dangit, I actually liked playing the tower defense with a friend of mine. Just setting up some towers and watching stuff die felt good.
Anything that adds some new co-op gameplay is okay in my book. Like that Empowered Ice Flower boss fight. That was also neat.

Meh. Feels like more China self-fellation after the entire Chapter 1 (Liyue) plotline. Always thought the open world game needed more tower defense mechanics. /sarcasm
I've never played a tower defence game before so having that being enforced as the mechanism to get currency from the market kind of annoys me. Is it easy enough for a noob?

TD is fun. Wish I could speed it up, and I can definitely see those later difficulty achievements being hair tearingly stressful, but its fun. Sucks that its timegated to only one new level a day though.
The new "quests" are very whatever. Just literal chores to get a few more primos here and there aside from a couple standout ones.

Yeah Im not a TDfag at all but at leasr so far it hasnt been that hard. Hydro + electro seems to be the best combo for now, while changing up your towers depending on the upcoming enemy waves.

I've finally got my first event banner character since Klee yesterday. Pity weirldy never kicked in and I somehow never rolled any of the guys I wanted between then and now. Xiao is literally shadow the fucking hedgehog levels of edge it's funny as hell to me. He's still underlevelled as hell due to my world level being far greater than I can properly manage, I'm not doing another ascention till I'm absolutely required to despite being at the world level limit because last time I waited like this it boosted my world level 2 ascensions from me doing 1 ascension quest and I guess it was due to like the game storing xp without telling you after you hit a point like that. I've literally had to get my characters levelled up by doing co-op with friends on lower level worlds and I can't remember if I've ranted about this shit already or not.

Anyways, my point before I went off on that tangent about world level shit is I ended up giving him that spear you get from one of the dragonspine mountain quests, Didn't realize it till I gave it to him but it has a special ability where it occasionally drops fucking ice on your opponents, which means that no matter what element the character you're using it with is they have an ice status element attack on top of their normal attack. Shit's seriously useful.

Another thing that is pissing me off is the geo hypostasis. I cannot get past it, levelled Noele as much as I could with her claymore to beat down the geo towers and....nothing. I can't ascend her because I need the material from the geo hypostasis to do so, though I could stand to do more daily quests, I guess. Anybody else had this roadblock?

Geo hypostasis was a fucking major pain in the ass till I got a fire character that wasn't an archer, even now it's a fucking chore to fight due to it contantly teleporting between the nearly unavoidable shockwave producing towers. Co-op is like the only way to make that fight go by fast-enough but even then at the start it was the only way i could kill the thing.

Razor is pretty good against Geo hypostasis, in my opinion. His charged elemental skill counts as 2 hits against the pillars and if you activate his burst, his basic attacks count as 2 hits as well. It's pretty handy when getting rid of the last three weaker pillars.

Yes; it's actually designed to be noob friendly. As your character that you've sunk lots of time and resources into doesn't directly fight, everything comes down to how you've invested in your defense towers and where you've placed them. I only messed around with it a little bit, but it seems that Fire/Electric are your main DPS towers while Hydro/Cryo are your CC towers, but as mentioned above you probably want to just use Hydro/Electric since Pyro is like a mortar that either tends to miss or target something that's already dead. Towers like to overkill and waste precious shots. One thing to remember is that while your character cannot directly do damage, they can still cause knockback or apply elemental effects through skills/attacks.

The Geo Hypostasis is definitely the most annoying one to fight, especially solo. The others you can blitz in a minute if you know what to do (strafe) but the Geo one just feels so slow. Noelle herself is my preferred character to use for the boss; her heavy attack is useful for getting the initial pillars summoned to near-death but you really need to save her ultimate for the final three pillars which are relatively easy to burst down in one go. I haven't ascended my geo characters yet because I just don't enjoy fighting that Hypostasis.

This isn't strictly true.
Every 20 pulls you are guaranteed a featured 4 star.

yeah, seems I missed it before (or they added it later). still, 1 of 3 means you can still end up with 0 of one char (same way the weapon banner works, 50/50 is still shit but better odds). although in exchange the weapon banner has slightly higher chance with lower pity.

I've never played a tower defence game before so having that being enforced as the mechanism to get currency from the market kind of annoys me. Is it easy enough for a noob?

it's easy enough, like @Jiji420 said you just have to find the right combo and figure out where they come from, then place accordingly. only one that gave me some issue was the 3rd due to the layout and one time fickle disabling all my electro towers for the wave (lul, fuck you too), meant ONE fucking mob getting through each time, and no mobs escaped is one of the challenges.
the ones that don't require to spend X or kill X are all "difficulty X or higher", so theoretically do the highest one after the last unlock with a mate that has upgraded all towers once and you should have enough for the free character. and you can matchmake too (unlike the stupid hypostasis event).

don't forget that while you can't damage mobs, you can still give them effects. plop down 2 electro towers (also one of the cheaper ones to upgrade), make them wet with barbara (lul) than watch the sparks fly. pyro behind it and the overload will knock them around, which works just as well as freeze, but with more range and damage.

Another thing that is pissing me off is the geo hypostasis. I cannot get past it, levelled Noele as much as I could with her claymore to beat down the geo towers and....nothing. if the geo hypostasis gives you trouble the oceanid will make you rage. but there aren't that many water chars yet and lot of people don't level barbara above a certain point, so most didn't have to deal with that much (although if you have ganyu it probably makes that fight piss-easy)

all the hypostasis(ses?) are pretty easy once you figure out the pattern. geo can be a bit annoying since 2 attacks are done from up top (the "laser gun" and "rocket"), which are hard to see when you whack the pillar (although when you do that, one blocks itself), or the thing for the bubble is hidden behind a pillar.
the ones that gets most people killed is the independence day laser beam, but simply get some distance. the other one is the earthquake, where you just need to kill the yellow thingie fast enough to spawn the bubble for protection (any greatsword char should be able to). once you knock it off just hit it with your main damage dealers etc.

even if you don't manage to hit all the pillars in one go at the end, there's no time limit so it just takes a bit longer (just pop noelle's burst, iirc it just needs geo since shield/construct reactions hardly scale. same way you can pop the pyrovine's "heart" with a level 1 barbara).

I've finally got my first event banner character since Klee yesterday. Pity weirldy never kicked in and I somehow never rolled any of the guys I wanted between then and now.

unless it wasn't a display issue (I think history only got back a month before they changed it) I'd write a ticket and see what happens. usually I'd say don't bother since they don't give a shit, but if there really is an issue of that kind they might want to look into it before they get reamed by the CCP (which apparently is even more anal about the gatcha stuff than even japan). worst case nothing happens, best case you might get some primos out of it.

I don't know what you mean by "display issue" but I really don't feel like filing a complaint about not getting an rng thing for so long. I've gotten characters just never the event ones until now. I'm specifically glad I got one because the next event banner coming up in a few days is apperently one of a character that's not event banner exclusive.

ah, its sounded like you never got your pity 5*. you're supposed to get the current banner char after max 180 rolls - pity is 90, it you don't get it the first time and someone else out of the pool, you'll get the current active one with your next 90 pity). in reality it's more like 150, most people tend to get a 5* after ~75 rolls with increasing chance. think I got one around 60-70 once.
it's always the current one when the pity hits, that's why you can somewhat plan ahead how many rolls you'd need to definitely get it (unless you get (un)lucky and get a 5* much sooner).

next char isn't exclusive, but never had a dedicated banner either. so if you wanted it (like a mate of mine who never got it) your only chance was to get lucky with the pity (versus the rest of the pool) or on the standard banner (even worse odds). same for diluc for example where people dumped 4 digits into the game to get him, not to mention how much the constellations would cost.

What WL? You're just supposed to break the pillar its on. It has total geo immunity I think, aside from the pillars. Theres not really much to it. Once you break the towers its stationary in which case you just go ham with your best DPS. The last 3 towers can be annoying though. Chongyun speeds up melee attacks so that could help. Maybe save your Noelle's burst when its almost dead so you can take the final three pillars out faster. If youre running Noelle I would recommend a cryo and electro character for superconduct (ideally Kaeya and Razor since Chongyun converts your attacks into cryo with his E). The last slot can be whoever. Maybe Barbara for more survivability or Bennet for more dps (you can hit the cube with his E even when its invulnerable and you'll recover energy)

Some people tell me that they never had issues with Oceanid and that is total bull fucking shit, especially before Fischl was free. He's more of a team comp check then an actual skill check. I'm glad I have a great team for it now but when I was ascending Xingqiu to level 80 that shit sucked even with Lisa, Chongyun, and Fischl.

Honestly I think not levelling WL is kind of a meme. Overworld content isnt that hard, and co-op exists if youre having trouble with bosses. The increase in drops will save you so much resin. When you spread resources or only play the 10 minutes of commissions a day without progressing your characters it can kind of spook you but still, I think its worth. Just dont be retarded like I was and try to use a ton of different characters/comps. Instead focus all your resources on one or two DPS characters.

nearly unavoidable shockwave producing towers.
Theres a little floating cube next to the tower its on when it goes into shockwave mode. break that and it gives you a shield

don't forget most people don't even level lisa (for good reason, still don't know wtf mihoyo was thinking), and most of the other chars people are using then didn't add much to the fight or were random af to get (like qiqi).

the other thing is it's completely random, I had runs where I thought "that can't be it" with how easy it was, next one I'm getting my shit pushed in hard.

started the tower defence and it's kind of fun? I've leveled up my towers a little bit and want to see how high I can go. Thanks for the advice, guys.

the new abyss is pure bullshit. I guess every time f2p are starting to catch up to whales in terms of damage theyre just going to make the abyss even more ridiculous.
