It's honestly unfortunate for the convention to be at risk of full cancell. Furries may be freaks and sexual deviants, but they shouldn't lose out on opportunities to have their own spaces purely because of internal sabotage from a bunch of poorly socialized idiots who don't understand consequences.
Counterpoint: all furries are poorly socialized idiots who should be shunned. Public venues should not have to make "spaces" for disgusting smelly fetish groups.
Possibly if we shamed and shunned furries back into their parents' basements, and hotels and conference venues started refusing en masse to cater to semen-stained fursuit-wearing NEETs for the benefit of the facilities, the employees, the normal guests, and society in general, some of the younger ones would realize it's not a good lifestyle. It's time to stop normalizing and tolerating all of this garbage.
Pretty much what Cuntspiracy said. Gays have always been degenrate, but they used to hide it behind bath houses and bars. BDSM was always full of leather and whips, but they had their own clubs and stuff.
In the last 30 or so years, and particularly the last 10 however, the massive move for "acceptance" which was born of the homossexual desire for being legalized hs gone absolutely haywire. It is no longer enough to not be liable to be arrested if you are gay or be forced to be chemically castrated if you like to dress up as a dog to fuck, oh no. Acceptance has morphed into celebration. It isn't enough you are allowed to do it, you have to be PROUD of it.
The really concerning part is how it not being "covert" anymore brings more people in and makes the amount of people interested in this kind of thing swell. Swelling numbers of people interested in this is obviously going to bring it closer to mainstream acceptance, which in turn makes those numbers swell even more. The problem with that is it brings in children and degenerates who can't control themselves and often end up grooming said children once they get tired of getting off to other taboo shit. Think for example interracial porn gaining online popularity, increasing the prevalence of raceplay fetishes among degenerates from watching said porn, which manifests itself in roblox ERP groups, and these groups on roblox gives the degenerates running them access to children which they often end up grooming like pedophiles for one reason or another.. https://kiwifarms.st/threads/the-roblox-erotic-roleplay-community.199455/

some things, while being permitted to do, should stay behind a sort of natural filter where you have to go out of your way to discover it, it shouldn't be presented to the world and have everyone be asked "well? do you like this? wanna do it? wanna try? its ok you can just give it a quick whiff its fine" no
if it was truly for you, you would have to go on a quest to discover it
do it, by all means who are we to say you can't do it at all, but when did it become wrong to say you can't, at the very least, do it in public
Hotel room sex parties are extremely selfish. These hotel rooms are SHARED spaces. Renting a room for a weekend doesn't give them the right to invite a dozen faggots over to cum all over the place. Others will be using the space after they're gone, but the self-centered greedy horny furry fucks can't think two inches past their own egos.
Speaking of egos, do any other subcultures or fandoms have something as egotistical as a fursona? You can't even interact with the fandom without needing to generate some faggy fursona of yourself, complete with complicated ref sheet enforcing strict color guides and markings like you're some special boy mommy likes best.
Absolute garbage humans, and I cannot believe people like Sintharia are defending them and want to give them spaces. Give me a break.

A lot of communities and fandoms online have self-insert OCs, ranging from your personal Hogwarts character to that weird character you made to fit into <insert universe here>. Furry is not unique in this regard. What IS unique is that furries come together almost exclusively over their own characters, as opposed to the ones of established IP.
The one thing babyfurs claim to run exclusively and it's so badly run entire hotels shut down the conventions for high impact sexual behavior and drug abuse because the toddler touches don't want "drama" with drug addicts and sex addicts in the fandom that "explicitly isn't about drugs and sex"? Color me shocked.
It's worth mentioning that the *actual* diaper inflatable leather "fuck anything that moves" UK furry con run by an insane guy (allegedly even by fandom standards) had zero lulz escape and the hotel didn't complain.

Pawsome? The hotel already hosts the non-furry rubber and latex events that Rapido does, so he knew in advance they’d be OK dealing with the convention. The Pawsome photoshoot went up last month here.
Rapido’s also running an amphibian meet and greet at MFF next week under his latest nom de fuerre of “Tox Cyberfrog”, just in case anyone in the US yearns to glimpse his rubber frog costume IRL.

Fucking hell. You can't just drop a link like that without accompanying images. There's too many good ones.
What shocks me the most however is that there appear to be actual women there. Unbelievable.
There are a lot of younger furries who are unfortunately not properly socialized, and who think that this behavior is acceptable. Some of them are victims of the pandemic lockdowns, but a lot of them were just coddled as children, and not taught how to behave in public.
Many are preyed upon and groomed by other furries. It starts with the innocent appeal of cute Disney animals, then it morphs into twisted ideas like "did you know dogs can consent?"—and before long, Little Johnny’s wearing his first fursuit.
Parents are just as responsible for this. If they’re not actively monitoring what their kids are exposed to online, they’re allowing this kind of grooming to take root.

Furry Twitter seems to be screaming about nazis over Garden State Fur the Weekend. At least I think it's nazis? Or bans? Or funding? I'm going to be honest Kiwis, I have no clue what the actual fuck is happening because there seems to be a huge disconnect between what the convention account is saying and how people are reacting. I will preface this by saying I'm only going off what I can publicly see on Twitter, so if I get any of this wrong, please correct me later.
The official GSFTW Twitter put out a giant wall of text that is far too long for me to screencap, so I will copy/paste the full statement in the spoiler below. archive
Attention: Please read the following statement from the Garden State Fur the Weekend Board:
There has been controversy brought up by particular individuals/sites regarding the leadership and organization of Garden State Fur The Weekend. Often these points have been misleading others to half-truths and fabrication of ideas that are unsubstantiated, which can be damaging to the convention as well as all the hard working individuals that help make this convention happen for the fandom.
A number of these issues have been brought up in the past and answered, but we feel these questions would best be answered in this Q&A so as to reduce the need to keep repeating our responses.
To begin, GSFTW is in no way collaborating or being paid for/by Nazifurs or other groups with hidden agendas. The convention runs on the hard working people that make up the GSFTW staff and volunteers, and on the attendees that attend the convention. Screenshots can be forged so we’re taking them at face value - Dashing has no recollection of some conversations due to the mutual blocking of both parties, so we can’t confirm or deny the screenshots.
Q: Dashing appeared on a Youtube video (May 2020) where he is interviewed in a podcast with Aeveirra, a known Furry Raider. Is Dashing aligned with the Furry Raiders?
A: Dashing is not aligned with Furry Raiders/Nazifurs in any way. Back at the start of 2020 when Covid became a big deal, people began moving to VR to meet since physical meets were no longer possible. Dashing met one of Aeveirra’s friends on VR - without knowledge of who they were - and they hit it up. Shortly later Dashing was introduced to Aeveirra as someone who could be helpful for GSFTW. Also, without knowledge who they were, Dashing brought up Aeverirra’s name as a potential staff to which he was then warned that they were a member of the FurryRaiders. It was at this time that unfortunately, Dashing did not research and look into the claims of who Aeverirra was, and continued to believe that they were VR friends.
In May, Dashing was asked if he’d be willing to go on a podcast to discuss if VRC would replace furry conventions in the future, to which Dashing agreed. The Zoom call was run by Aeveirra, and Dashing answered questions and also advertised GSFTW as a new NJ con.
It was only after the video that others had a pep-talk with Dashing and showed him who those “friends” were that he then realized his mistake being with them. He refused to be associated with them and he immediately blocked them. He has had no communication with them to this day.
Q: Why was there a mass exodus of staff when they found out about Dashing’s interview?
A: At the time (December/January 2024), GSFTW was growing its staff members. One individual who had joined GSFTW and wanted to help by bringing along a number of his friends to offer their services with security and other departments. GSFTW was grateful, however in a short time, it became evident that they were attempting to gain a spot on the Board and take over the convention as an ulterior motive. Dashing’s past mistake wasn’t something new, but this individual felt it necessary to dig up the past in order to get enough leverage and staff to support him. In the end, the takeover failed and the mass exodus occurred when he pulled out every single person that he planted in the con.
Q: There was an individual who wanted to remove every Nazifur and troublesome individuals from all chats. Why did you not do this?
A: GSFTW has a policy which states that we cannot ban or remove people without just cause and this applies to whether it is in a chat or at a convention. GSFTW’s ban policy is no different than other conventions such as Anthrocon. Deliberately banning people without cause and based on perceived opinions can open up the convention to a lawsuit. It is for this reason that cons do not share their ban list - they follow their own policies on who they remove from their conventions. This individual gave a list of individuals he wanted removed but did not provide any evidence as to why/how these individuals have broken the GSFTW’s policy, and so his request to remove these individuals was denied.
Q: And yet later on, you did end up removing these individuals from the chats?
A: It was unfortunate that due to the drama fallout and at the risk of a lawsuit, the PR department and Board agreed that it would be best to go against the GSFTW policy and remove these individuals from the chats in order to reduce the drama. This act unfortunately had the opposite effect and incited even more drama.
Q: GSFTW was somehow able to bounce back after the mass exodus which meant they secretly had people on standby or misled staff on who was who
A: The people that were part of the mass exodus were one individual staff member and his friends. GSFTW already had the base staff group so him and his friend’s absence had no effect. Our existing staff and volunteers pulled together to make the convention happen.
Q: It seems oddly coincidental that Dashing was sick, stepped down, but then appeared healthy and working at the con
A: Dashing was sick and at times in the hospital. At the advice of PR and Board, he did step down as Con Chair, but would continue to help with the convention. Stepping down never meant that he would leave the convention. Shy stepped up and was named Con Chair to fulfill the empty position. Dashing remained sick for 3 months but mostly recovered by the time the convention started.
Q: It seems oddly coincidental that the convention was first a 501c3 and then switched to an LLC. Was this meant to be a bait-and-switch, make people believe the con was non-profit, and then afterwards not?
A: The application for the 501c3 was incorrectly filed. Since the 501c3 process is long and complicated and given the timeframe at which the convention was scheduled to happen, it would not have been possible to be 501c3 compliant. The only way for the convention to happen was to switch it to an LLC.
Q: Was GSFTW colluding with FOX News? They were filming freely at the convention without a press badge?
A: GSFTW has no association with FOX News. GSFTW was contacted by FOX News to find out more about the event and what it was. The news crew was always being escorted around or locked in a room with someone from the Board.
Q: If GSFTW was not colluding with FOX News, why was Peter interviewed?
A: The news crew was looking for people in fursuit to interview. Peter was in fursuit at the time and in the vicinity of the news crew, and they had asked if they could interview him. There was no reason at the time to deny them from interviewing a suiter. Moving forward, GSFTW does realize the situation could have managed the situation better, with having a proper spokesperson for future interviews. As a new con, we are always trying to improve what did not work well for the following year and we regret that it we did not handle this properly the first time. With the way they presented themselves, FOX News will not be returning next time.
Q: It was said Peter was staff and did A/V work for the convention. There are pictures of him taking photos for the con
A: In no way was Peter representing a staff member or volunteer for GSFTW. Peter did not do A/V work for the convention, only other than to help load boxes at the end of the con. Any photos of him taking photos are his own photos and not GSFTW official photos.
Q: It was said Arctico was on staff
A: Arctico was listed as staff but he never attended the convention and so he was dismissed
Q: Who quit after the con, making the staff collapse?
A: With all cons, people (staff/volunteer) come and go due to life priority and decisions. In addition, staff members can change departments as well. We’re sad to see some people unable to stay but we also welcome all the new members joining us for the upcoming year.
Q: Staff request for budgets stonewalled
A: It was absolutely imperative that a request from staff for what items were required. No requested item was ever assumed to be useless/excluded. But being financially responsible, especially for a 1st year con, meant we needed to make sure that we were cost-conscious so that we could survive for a future year. Getting a wishlist asking for thousands of dollars worth of items ONLY for registration was a lot of money. It was a better decision to ask: without excluding any required items, how and where could we save money? What alternative suppliers can we find that could give us better discounts? This is literally Business 101. In the end, the Registration department was given all needed equipment at a fraction of the cost of the original wishlist price.
Q: 957 official attendance was inflated and hard to detect due to Reg Dept turnover
A: This is the number as provided by the registration service we use for GSFTW
Q: GSFTW overestimated their numbers and after realizing their error, inflated their numbers
A: We did a lot of projections and estimates prior to the convention. Without actual 1st year data, we also looked at other cons and con trends in order to make our initial pricing decisions. We erred on the side of being conservative especially for a con with limited budget. We never made bold estimates – far from it. In fact, our estimates ended up being a little lower than actual.
Q: Numbers aren’t adding up. Based on the attendee count and reg pricing $65, they would need almost a thousand people to get the event off the ground.
A: A con doesn’t just sell base tier registration. As mentioned at Closing Ceremonies, our financials were good - we were in the black and able to break even, thus making a 2nd year possible. And we have to thank the hard work of all staff and volunteers for making this happen.
Q: They have outside benefactors artificially boosting their reg numbers on paper and secretly funding the con so it wouldn’t go belly up
A: We didn’t have any external benefactors and we didn’t boost reg numbers.
The TLDR on their statement:
-"GSFTW is in no way collaborating with or being paid by Nazifurs or other groups with hidden agendas."
-Dashing (the original con chair) was called out for associating with a known Furry Raider and appearing on their podcast in early 2024. Dashing's excuse was that he met the Raider through a friend of a friend and participated in the podcast episode without knowing their affiliations. When he found out afterward, he immediately distanced himself from both individuals.
-A number of staff members left in December 2023 and January 2024. GSFTW claims that someone on staff attempted to bring in a group of their friends and tried to hijack the event for personal gain. This individual allegedly "felt it necessary to dig up the past in order to gain leverage," prompting GSFTW to remove them and their associates.
-Someone in the Telegram chat complained that GSFTW hadn’t banned enough Nazis. GSFTW responded that they would not ban individuals without a valid reason, such as making actual threats or having a history of problematic behavior at other conventions.
-When complaints persisted, Telegram moderators attempted to appease critics by banning these individuals from the chat, though they refused to ban them from the actual convention. Most of these individuals were later unbanned from the chat after the convention ended.
-Dashing was present at the convention despite stepping down. Some attendees mistakenly assumed "stepping down" meant he had been "fired," though he continued to assist with the event in a less prominent capacity.
-The convention was initially filed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit but later switched to an LLC. GSFTW claims it was always intended to be an LLC and was initially filed incorrectly.
-Fox News asked for permission to film at the convention. A staff member accompanied the Fox News crew at all times during filming, and everyone interviewed gave their consent to participate.
-Furries harassed a "Peter" (presumably ArcticFoxHiro, who posted here a few months ago) after he was interviewed, accusing him of being part of the con staff. This was due to him taking numerous photos of fursuiters at the event. He was not part of the staff, was never listed in staff directories, or had access to staff chats. He was not an official event photographer, he took pictures with camera equipment he bought himself and posted them online for free. His only direct interaction with staff was helping someone move a few boxes.
-Arctico was listed as staff but left the event months before the convention and did not attend. He is probably best remembered for posting a fursuit photo in support for Trump over Kamala.
-The registration team had a lengthy wishlist of supplies to purchase. However, GSFTW was only able to buy about half of the items due to budget constraints, explaining that many items were too expensive to justify for a first-year convention.
-Financials are reportedly stable, with the first year breaking even and performing well enough to justify a second year. GSFTW claims they are transparent about their finances and attendance numbers.
TLDR on the TLDR:
GSFTW may have been mismanaged to some extent, but despite the uproar, it managed to host an event that was both financially sustainable and reasonably well-attended. Some furries seem upset that the staff didn't ban 'problematic' individuals (translation: anyone who isn't strongly left-leaning or connected to a staff member who was let go). As a result, it appears that the usual overreaction is in full swing, with accusations of Nazism and unsubstantiated stories being thrown at anyone ever associated with the event.
The replies and quote tweets consist largely of the usual "Nazi" accusations, often with little to no supporting evidence. However, without a doubt, the most outrageous take I've seen is this one from Drayne. While it might seem relatively typical at first glance, it becomes far worse upon realizing that Drayne is the chairman of Furrydelphia, an event already under scrutiny for its incredibly unprofessional use of social media. archive
If I may slightly sperg and power level: I once had access to my company's Twitter account and helped with promotional tweets. I can guarantee you that if I had ever posted something along the lines of "you should boycott other companies that aren't us," (regardless of what those companies actually did) I would have been fired on the spot.
"But Pinball," you might be saying, "Drayne didn’t post this on the convention Twitter, he only posted it on their personal account." So, about that: archive
He also reposted his rant to the official Furrydelphia account, but I think he realized this one was a mistake because it disappeared while I was writing all this up.
Now this may strike some of you as harsh, but I think everyone involved on both sides of this gay slap-fight should commit sudoku (in Minecraft).
The above post will waste your time. It's a less-reliable regurgitation of the Jersey con's ass-covering PR that's intentionally vague about what happened. The drama was not about Fox News until much later. If a con is trying to be professional and swat away a bunch of screeching spergs, allowing Fox News to mingle with them is really bringing the shit on themselves.
Twitter is dying and not the place for furry drama any more. The real drama is at the sources the PR is responding to, which are left out above. A lot of them are on a Bluesky thread. I don't use the site so I can't compare it to Twitter levels but it has a lot of comments and sharing. Crossover with Furry Raiders and Free Fur All makes it actually juicy. Casey Chen / Lumin City was involved at some point, possibly on staff, at least from what some closely located people were saying on Discord.
As much as I would love to shit on Lumin (since I'm the one who made that thread), literally nothing in dogpatch's wall of texts says anything about Lumin. That kind of accusation requires some sort of actual evidence behind "trust me bro it happened on Discord".
Again, I have absolutely no clue what the actual fuck is going on with this drama and who's lying about what, but given that Dogpatch is also inserting himself in this, I do have to take anything he posts with a grain of skepticism.

It comes from staff themselves, but it requires reading and not just using the search function. It would also be nice to shit on dogpatch but the staff of the con appear to be the ones who initiated going there to get the word out about whatever is going on inside.
