I’m currently in the process of trying to decipher the GSFTW mess, and I plan to put together a mini-op about it within the next few days. I want to make sure I thoroughly examine both sides, as it’s now abundantly clear that neither can be considered a reliable narrator. While it’s glaringly obvious in hindsight that whoever handles the convention’s PR is on heavy defense, people are also unironically citing and quoting Dogpatch as a credible source. This ignores the fact that Dogpatch has had a Kiwi Farms thread here for years and is primarily known for sensationalizing things, being sued for actual slander, and recording himself getting jerked off in the middle of the street at pride events.


In the meantime, MFF is starting this weekend, and I've already seen a few drama highlights. In no specific order:

Drug ODs and opening ceremonies haven't even happened yet!

Meanwhile, over in the Bluesky echo chamber, a surprising number of furries are claiming they refused to attend MFF because hardly anyone is wearing masks anymore.

This detail may not matter to most forum lurkers, but it is important to get it correct so as to not sound like your two brain cells have not collided in weeks. The video is clearly from the Folsom Street Fair, which is a kink-focused street fair, not a Pride event. Pride events are annoying, but they're usually PG-13. A lot of clips claiming to be Pride are actually kink events, just mislabeled because media fucksticks wouldn't know honesty if it bit them right in the taint.

Speak of media fucksticks: Patch is annoying and sensationalist too.

To"well ayckshyually", the detail about him being sued for slander (defamation is the correct term) ended up with him winning $32,000 against a convicted fraud named Connor Cochran who he called out and sued back. Cochran went on to lose his own defamation defense, so that leaves us with Patch has a Kiwifarms thread for being the kind of cow who gets paid for callouts.

I think it’s pretty awesome that furries will bitch and moan that Parkdean won’t let them have unprotected 30 people orgies in a 300 square foot room, but in the same week they’ll turn around and bitch that MWFF isn’t restrictive enough.
 
I swear, you never actually see con drama happen, although you will hear about it later.
I have been to MFF ages ago, and there's shockingly little to do if you're not there for the sex and whatnot.
Thing I did see:
- evidence of a zoo meet (multiple cars that had clearly been in the one parking lot since the previous night with various zeta stickers and such)
- the random, actual dog show they share space with causing issues no one likes to talk about
- obvious murrsuits on display
- the crowd from the diaper fur meet milling around, nasty
- those two murrsuiters having sex on a balcony on the last day

I know this is hard to believe, but furries are not a monolithic group and these are two distinct sets of people. No one having a multi person orgy is likely to complain about masking.

however, i have actually seen THE SAME INDIVIDUALS say they should be able to have big sex orgy parties while freaking out about masks and vaxs

I guess we don't have real data on this, but you can't possibly think there's much overlap between the two groups at all?

I assume by "seen" you mean online and terminally online twittertards holding two conflicting opinions doesn't count. There are many people online who have strong opinions but aren't attending cons or parties.
