You know shit got serious overnight when LawVS isn't on his ladder to talk about Qualys.
First impressions: well, I didn't expect to be right about Lando, but here we are. I'll sure I'll eat my words tomorrow morning, but Piastri doesn't have an impossible climb back (he will struggle; I give it a 90/10 that he stays right where he is). Same can't be said for Hamilton, which...man, as much as the man should have looked at Leclerc going into last year to see his future, this is just free-fall. The man should have quit at 7 and said, "fuck this shit, I'm out", spent a year off and consulted with Fernando about how to retire in style and then come back like a boss (may we all live well enough to adopt the kind of "living my best life" smile that Nando has). I've spent the last few months wanting to give everyone on Team Ferrari wedgies, but this...this might be rock bottom and I feel legit bad for the guy.
Verstappen was Verstappen, no surprises there. Russell was Russell, also no surprise.
The pleasant surprise, though, was Sainz. Yes, I am a fangirl, and I'm probably going to back Williams as a team in general (they're not Constructors champs, but after all of the contract and personnel drama I've seen out of the top four teams this year, I'm more than happy to stick with a team that's not participating in the soap opera), but I'm under no illusions that I should have my hopes up, so I stand by my original prediction of Russell being on the podium with Norris and Verstappen.
