gigachad stroll first person out on intermediates too. his massive brass balls showing to the entire grid.
He's earning Papa Stroll's love.

Also HAM out Q1 lol

This is one of those sessions where the drivers show who are the best at car control and speed. Its no surprise that 8 teams are in the top 10. The conditions are equalizing the cars a fair amount and the top 10 drivers are ones you'd expect there. Other than the 2 RBs, the other 8 drivers are all race winners.

Showing why he is the greatest of all time. LOL
That' what a 100 million $ investment will get you. Though in all faireness he had the problem of Albon binning hius car into the wall right in front of him. But Sainz on P3 is something. Will the race tomorrow be wet? that would be funny (or boring because you can't have 20 well payed driver risk it when it's wet)

You know shit got serious overnight when LawVS isn't on his ladder to talk about Qualys.

First impressions: well, I didn't expect to be right about Lando, but here we are. I'll sure I'll eat my words tomorrow morning, but Piastri doesn't have an impossible climb back (he will struggle; I give it a 90/10 that he stays right where he is). Same can't be said for Hamilton, which...man, as much as the man should have looked at Leclerc going into last year to see his future, this is just free-fall. The man should have quit at 7 and said, "fuck this shit, I'm out", spent a year off and consulted with Fernando about how to retire in style and then come back like a boss (may we all live well enough to adopt the kind of "living my best life" smile that Nando has). I've spent the last few months wanting to give everyone on Team Ferrari wedgies, but this...this might be rock bottom and I feel legit bad for the guy.

Verstappen was Verstappen, no surprises there. Russell was Russell, also no surprise.

The pleasant surprise, though, was Sainz. Yes, I am a fangirl, and I'm probably going to back Williams as a team in general (they're not Constructors champs, but after all of the contract and personnel drama I've seen out of the top four teams this year, I'm more than happy to stick with a team that's not participating in the soap opera), but I'm under no illusions that I should have my hopes up, so I stand by my original prediction of Russell being on the podium with Norris and Verstappen.

I am new to F1. I see everyone bagging on Vegas and maybe it's just the weather but that qualifier was well balanced and a pleasure to watch. Also interested to learn that a lot of the top racers throughout history are very dyslexic.

Vegas at least has been a setting for races in the past, even if it was a glorified autocross circuit on a casino parking lot. That said, it's nowhere near as bad as Miami is as a venue. Now, there's multiple real circuits that could be used for F1 in the states but Liberty wants big tourist destination races.

There was a specific incident on the debut of the track where a loose manhole cover flicked up totaling a car. throwing a red flag. and making the people who set up the Vegas track look incompetent. It has never shaken that stink.

Hot take: I don't like Monaco as a venue. But it's apparently too iconic to let go of, and everyone lives there for tax purposes and blah blah rich people shit.

You don't have to like the venue, but there is a reason why it is considered part of the Triple Crown of motorsports along with the Indy 500 and the 24 hours of Le Mans. It is a proper challenge for any driver.

It's too iconic as it would be like NASCAR without Daytona, it's just not right. I think the problem is the cars are too big to allow real fighting so we can't get truly amazing fights.

I really enjoyed the part where Crofty and Button were talking up bloois as the rain master right as q1 ended with him dead last. Iconic commentary fail.

For Monaco they should swap out the huge F1 cars for carts. Now what would be a spectacle I'd love to see.

I know, but that doesn't mean I don't get to say so.

I know that also. I did declare up front it was a hot take.

I want a repeat of the drivers' parade from Brazil. Normally, I hate the goofy pre-race shit, but that looked fun as hell, and everyone was clearly having a good time.
