IMO the idea with the no-sidepod design is to minimize drag. In Monaco, the speeds never get to the point where it's worth running such a design especially because heat management always has been a major problem on this track.
It certainly looks like that, although the autists over at the F1 technical forum ran some CFD on the fatass Ferraris and found that those pods actually reduced drag.

I saw a video somewhere in youtube that had a guy say that the nopod is about not having to deal with the front wheel wake and on another video they say that nopodding forces a greater reliance on vortices to direct air flow.

Now, I'm no aerodynamicist, but from the little I've read in aviation, where there's vortices, there tends to be drag.

Also, lol one of the Ferraris crashed in FP2.

Welp there's usually a few big scalps at Monaco and perez is the first.

Whoever is doing the camera direction today has a boner for bloois.

I love the commentators writing Verstappen's obituary as he enters the 3rd sector.

Recovering from a bad corner is plenty good, but "I need to utterly destroy sector 3 to get on pole? Okay." That's all time great stuff.

Geez the paint on Max's tire. And poor Alonso.

Some people are saying there are 3D features on RB's under belly. Now that higher res photos are out, the floor is looking arcane.

I had a look at other car floors and it seems this year, they're flatter.

The two qualifying investigations are finished

Leclerc 3 place penalty, entirely ferrari's fault from the stewards report. HE just can't catch a break in Monaco and worst track to get a grid penalty.

>Lec didn't know
>Lec could have done something if he knew
>lol whatever just apply the precedent

I'm not even sure how to react to that. I kinda get where they're coming from but also don't.

It's more the team should have told him so he could have done something about it. It's a team sport and his race engineer's screw up has lead to the infraction so there needs to be a penalty. It's always the job of the engineer and 90% of the time impeding is their fault for not telling the driver.

LeClerc really needs to race for a team that isn't staffed almost entirely by fuckwits. Now that he's been knocked back down to 6th, this puts Ocon up to 3rd. Can't see him staying up there for too long though.

Thrilled to see that Alonso qualified in 2nd. He's going to have a hard time keeping up with Max, but it won't be for lack of trying.

Here's hoping my boy Checo is able to at least get a couple of points for turning up this weekend.
