I'm not much into NASCAR, but it appears that it's not uncommon for a driver to bonk someone else off the track. The sport in general seems a bit more "full contact" than F1 and doesn't penalize stuff that would get you a DSQ in F1.

Hamilton would get his ass handed to him in a sling cause suddenly, everyone is driving a car with the same performance and people would just put their elbows out. If Hamilton thinks Checo's driving in Abu Dhabi was "dangerous", just cause he dared fight back effectively, imagine Hamilton getting a love-tap from another driver in NASCAR :story:
"Number 1 rule of stock car racing: If you're going to wreck someone else, don't wreck yourself."

You can't just crash into another car with zero disregard for the other driver's safety, but NASCAR drivers have perfected what's known as the "bump n' run." Tap the rear end of the other guy's car with the nose of yours, spin him out, drive on to victory. Rubbing is racing after all.

Its not penalized because stock cars are basically tanks in comparison to F1. Its also a self-regulating system. If you wanna drive around and ruin other people's races by spinning them out that's fine. But one day one of those drivers is going to remember what you did to them and ruin your good season.

In reality, Hamilton would play out a lot like Danica Patrick, who most of the F1 community with recognize as "That chick at COTA doing pre-race commentary" this year. Danica was a rising star in indycar, who was drawn to NASCAR by the huge contract deals and fame. She tried to race cars with twice the weight and half the tire like they were indycars, and sucked as a result. The high point of her career in stock cars was leading a couple laps and not managing to crash into the wall at the same time.

I think there's instances of people getting spun around and once the guy that spun them comes around to lap them, they just pay back the favor. We can all imagine what Hamilton would make of this, though.

Also as for Patrick, I watched a few compilations of her driving and she managed to turn a small spin into a race-ending crash. She over-corrects and then hits the wall head on. Every single time.

I'd love to see Hamilton in a stockcar. I assume he'd not be atrocious, but all of a sudden, he'd not be king big shit and very quickly give up on it to focus on TRUE and HONEST motorsport like F1 (as long as his car in F1 has 10-15% more performance than the next best car, that is).
Just make sure lewis doesn't see the rope ties that people use for garage doors.

Hambone has gone full melt down from the loss it appears:

I wonder if he was doing this out of disappointment over them not falling on their swords to push his cause to make FIA apologize to Lewis and hand him the SUPER Trophy (twice the size of the thing Max got) that he deserves, while the last lap of Abu Dhabi is annulled entirely.

How could they give to him? He skipped the awards ceremony.

Seriously, its been two weeks. Any kind of sympathy about "just being really disappointed with the FiA" is going to be wearing off soon if it hasn't already.

All the signs of a completed buck breaking are there. At this rate, if he does retire and fade to irrelevance, Hamilton might just troon out - becoming the first transwoman (which is totally the same as a real woman, BTW) of color to be an F1 World Champion.

Who wants a Ferrari NFT?

Dec 27 (Reuters) - Ferrari (RACE.MI) has signed a multi-year accord with Swiss technology firm Velas Network to create digital content for its fans, the luxury sports car maker said on Monday.
From next season, Velas, a provider of digital products and services, will become a partner of Ferrari's Formula 1 racing team.

"In addition, Velas will be Title Sponsor of the Ferrari Esports Series, the online mono-brand series of the Prancing Horse, and of the Esports team that will compete in the F1 Esports Series, the official digital championship competed in by all teams participating in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship," Ferrari said in a statement.

Velas is a leading provider of blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), cryptographic assets stored on a blockchain which have an identification code that makes them unique and have gained popularity as a way to sell digital art.

For goodness sake, take the L.

Unsurprisingly it's all dindus (mostly South African, interestingly) who only like him because black.

Lot of pictures of him in poses like this. Don't think it's a coincidence

Can't fucking wait until he's out of F1. The crowd he's brought to it is the worst.

Edit: Found another quality one:

This is the worst thing about Hamilton, the kinds of people he brings to the sport. They're utter dipshits who don't understand the first thing about it (nor actually enjoy it) they just infest the place and insist that everything be changed to make them happy.

Hamilton has had one of the most privileged rides into F1 possible. He was picked up young and funded by McLaren who then put him right into a championship capable car and favoured him over the 2 time champion they brought in to lead the team. Then when the McLaren was on the down swing he got offered big money to move to a team that had basically been built by Schumacher and given unstoppable machinery.

Yeah he's a good racer, but he ain't God's gift like his fans want to make out. All the champions of the last few eraa have had to start out with bullshit and work. Schumacher in the Jordan, Hill in the Brabham, Villeneurve in murican series, Hakkinen in the Lotus, Alonso in Minardi, Kimi in the Sauber, Button in the Williams (and lots of other shit cars), Vettel in the Torro Roso, Rosberg at Williams and finally Max at Toro Roso.

Are they seriously trying to say having your way paid through all of your junior career having previously achieved fuck all then been dropped into a championship winning car is somehow his being discriminated against? Hell I'd say there is some other reason he got that ride and only Ron Dennis knows why but affirmative action is as good a guess as any other.

Hope everyone here has a great and enjoyable NY bash and 2022 gives us all some exciting racing action! I think it isn't long until the F3Asian series gets going, its usually the first series of the year for me. When the new online calendar doc gets made up I will share the link here, that is the best place to see what is going on worldwide in motorsports.

Also, this bit I just read. Let's hope all the cars are within .5 seconds next year, then it won't matter! At least on tracks where passing can be done. It would be nice if there isn't any tire saving antics or running to a delta next year. I sure hope its ultra-competitive in F1 2022!

Pirelli expect one-stops at “most races” in 2022

Pirelli’s Mario Isola says he expects that one-stop strategies will be commonplace during the 2022 F1 season.

With a combination of dramatic aerodynamic changes to cars and new 18-inch low profile wheels for this upcoming season, Isola expects reduced tyre degradation during races this year.

“We are expecting a performance that is in line with the current tires, but the car is different, the downforce is different and maybe we will have a small difference in performance,” Isola told Tire Technology International.

“I’m expecting most of the races will be one-stop, simply because if you have less degradation and tires with the characteristics I have mentioned, there is no reason to have more than one stop. If we have really close racing and we have action on track, who cares about the pit stops?”

Too lazy to post the article, but apparently merc has released a preview of their car. No paint job yet. It kinda looks like the stock 22 car without paint but with a merc logo at the nose tip.

I read some chatter a few months back that the 2022 regulations have effectively rendered F1 into a spec series. Anyone care to bring enlightenment to that sentiment?

I think FIA claimed that the regulations would allow some creative variation and made a couple different iterations of their example cars in CGI.

But given the differences in engineering, I don't think it's fair to call it a spec series. F1had very rigid regulations for decades.
