If I were Sainz I would be considering my 2023 options well. He's out of contract at the end of 2022 and all the amazing performances in the world don't help when ferrari has a plan.

While he was most likely brought in as a stop gap, if he has another year like this he'll be staying for a while and is rumoured to be already in discussions about an extension https://archive.md/nztdA

If Hambone retires at the end of the 2022 season, Mercedes could do a lot worse than pick Carlos up for 2023. That said, I could see George throwing a massive tantrum if Uncle Toto signed up a second driver that is both a proven performer and highly competitive.

Best picks would be Gasley or Sainz, I'd personally like Mick and I have no idea why Toto acts as if De Vries is in contention, he couldn't beat out either Albon or Zhou in the rumoured fight for seats at Alfa and Williams.

Sainz vs Max in the top teams would be great though, go back to the old Toro Roso rivalry which was apparently a bit heated at time and didn't end on the best terms (hence Sainz getting out to go to Renault with 4 races still to go in 2017).

While it wasn't a bad thing to leave for Sainz to leave Red Bull it was Palmer being useless which got him there early. Max had already left Toro Rosso the year before so their relationship would only have mattered if Sainz was asked to step up to red bull

It was no secret that their relationship was terrible and the Red Bull hierarchy took Max's side more often than not since he was the golden child of the red bull junior program (for good reason) it kinda nuked his relationship with Toro Roso too. I'm sure Palmer being the worst driver in a long time certainly helped with that though.

Isn't Palmer the guy Crofty and so on ask for his opinion on F1 matters?

Yup. They also sucked his dick the entire time he was in F1 because British even though he was absolutely shocking (see also Chilton).

Drivers react to their predictions at the start of the season, featuring Kimi very much being meme Kimi and a distinct lack of a certain douchebag.

Or apparently the link since F1 are arses with their rights management

One day I aspire to not give a shit like Kimi.

Hoes Hamilton seriously think stonewalling the FiA is going to get him anywhere? Does he actually think he is bigger than the sport?

Yes, he does.

Funny you mention the ongoing discussion about Lewis and him retiring or not, and of course not attending the awards to get his 1st Place Loser trophy. I just saw a tweet from an old school F1 hack that wanted to remind the Lewis-era fans how F1 used to be and that Lewis should get a pummeling for flipping the bird at the FIA. Bonus cope reply included:

When the masses should be talking about the fantastic job Max did to win his first title, instead people focus on the loser and talking about his hurt feelings. Sad. Probably why Lewis is pulling this silent routine. Wants to take the spotlight away from Max.

It will b interesting to see just what FIA does about him, and Dodo, skipping the event. Given the tweet above, it will be a good measuring stick as to how it would have been dealt with before wokeness took over F1. At very least it should be a high 6 or 7 figure fine, for both. Oh, and maybe hit them with having to write "I will not be a sore loser" on a chalkboard 500 times! LOL That is a more fitting punishment for their childish actions.

Big news for Mick, alongside his Haas drive he's also now co-reserve ferrari driver.

ferrari signed with santander. the rumour is that ferrari wants 2 more years with carlos and they want to bring back todt as a lauda esque consultant.
mick is nowhere ready for ferrari

The F1 secret santa, some nice gifts there (not like they can't afford it). Video.

Even Lewis fans are startibg to call him out in the comments for not taking part in these "fun" videos. This was filmed before the final GP too so not like he can use the "I was robbed" excuse.

You can feel the gritted teeth from Mick and Valtteri lol.

Funny how Kimi, the most miserable guy on the grid, still takes part in these things even if with minimum effort. At this stage I wonder what it took to get Hamilton to take part in the quizzes.

Also Lando Norris is alarmingly stupid. Can drive a car and literally nothing else.

It all goes more and more credibility to Alonso's thoughts on Hambone

Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton may not be on each other’s Christmas lists, the Spaniard claiming recently that Hamilton is a bit lost.

The two Formula 1 drivers’ first interaction was not positive to say the least, as they were teammates at McLaren in 2007, Alonso already a double F1 Champion, and Hamilton a highly rated rookie.

Suffice to say that their season together at Woking was acrimonious, the two fighting on top status within the team, which resulted in Kimi Raikkonen snatching the Drivers’ Crown from them by one point as the squabbling pair finished the season even on points. McLaren secured the Constructors’ Title that year. Alonso left McLaren after that single season.

On the back of his comeback season with Alpine where he finished tenth overall in the Drivers’ standings, having scored an impressive third place in the Qatar GP, Alonso touched on the 2007 season in an interview with Finetwork.

“At that time he [Hamilton] was not that bad. Then he was a rookie, he got worse with years,” he joked.

But added, “Now I see he’s a bit lost. There are always bad guys and good guys, that’s part of the sport”, the Alpine driver explained.

Despite being in midfield car, Alonso found himself fighting with the seven-time World Champion in Hungary this year, as the latter was fighting up through the field after a botched tyre strategy by Mercedes.

Alonso defended with all his power against the #44 Mercedes, giving his teammate Esteban Ocon enough breathing space to win his first race – also his team’s under the Alpine guise – in F1, with Hamilton running out of laps to fight for victory.

Asked about the current relationship he has with Hamilton, if there is one, Alonso said: “Not really, he’s not having any relationship with anyone.

“He isolated himself in the last few years. He’s in the world of fashion, wearing strange clothes,” the 40-year-old quipped.

Wanking on about 2007 and editorialising aside I think Alonso is spot on and is probably the prevailing option on the grid. Of course the Hamilton fans are either crying alonso is just jealous or its to Lewis' credit he's not "just a one trick pony" as if his desperation to be an American celebrity is a likable trait.

hamilton records will always have the * of being with the legit best car of the grid.
mercedes should count their blessings this year because rbr kicked their asses.
max should have won the title with at least 50 points more

Most telling quote in that extract:

Obviously Alonso not liking Hamilton is well known but there's nothing I've seen that disproves that point. Think it's most telling that the only time you see the 'human' side of Hamilton is still when he's doing staged interviews/activities in front of Sky cameras.

I don't know for certain if he views himself as bigger than F1, but I think it's abundantly clear that right now his interests and ambitions are outside of it and doesn't really have an interest in engaging with the sport and its community beyond turning up and winning trophies.

Well, he's already got the money and championships. When things are like that, why even bother risking your life on track when you can take your built up shit and start a business?

Real question, was there ever a time when that wasn't the case? Isn't the history of F1 the top drivers driving the top cars and winning all the time? At least in general?

Well, you can't drag a pig of a car like the Haas of current season to a podium. You simply can't.
You always need a competent driver and a really strong car, so your victories are consistent enough to matter at the end of the season. Every driver in the past 20 or so years that won a title also drove a really powerful car.

However Mercedes has been dominating this sport for almost an entire decade. And I don't just mean "strongly competing for the title" either when I say "dominating". Mercedes had many races where they lapped the entire field. And it's not Hamilton being this amazing wizard that pulls insane levels of performance from his car. Put in Russel and he dominates the race just as well in his first ever race in the Mercedes. You could put in any driver. Fuck me. I think even Maldonado could win a title in that car.

No car has ever been this strong for this long by this wide of a margin.

Because if he stops being in F1 all his hangers on, all the rap album contracts, all the clothing lines, all the everything will evaporate. He's only tolerated in those spaces because of his F1 prestige, he's mediocre in all of those pursuits ask anyone into those hobbies what he's like and they'll say he's alright.

Alright does not keep companies coming to you with cheques or deals though. If it wasn't for his F1 fame he'd be on the level of just another mid tier social media influencer at best. He knows all his side projects are contingent on his formula 1 career so turns up and drives just with limited apparent passion for it. It's also why losing this championship has hit so hard because "runner up" does not play as well as "reigning champ" for those companies he needs to let him do his side nonsense.

He brings in the F1 fans who aren't big into those spaces but want to be part of his fandom. It's like every footballer or b list celebrity on earth flogging some overpriced perfume that sells like petrol, their name is what sells it and their name is derived from their main career. No one is queuing up to buy some retired footballers products now they've retired.

This is also important for his burgeoning profile in America. Being the one black guy who turns up and wins in the White Man Sport is pivotal to his brand and fanbase there. If he’s not there and not winning his brand is not going to sell.

Really, the best way to describe Hamilton and his simps is to point out that he's the only driver who would ever get the idea of selling his bath-water and his simps would actually buy it.

Also say what you want about Shaquille O'Neal, dude starred in "Steel", "Kazaam" and some other hilariously campy movies. Thank fuck Hamilton hasn't had this idea, imagine the kind of SJW crap he'd inflict upon the world.

Expand the "space jam" formula out to other sports, can call it "race jam" since it will be about both racing and overt race baiting.
