truly a certified Lance Stroll™ moment in Q1
Frankly, I don't see how that was Stroll's fault.
Latifi goes to the side to let cars pass, Stroll passes him, Latifi changes his mind and picks the worst fucking spot for an overtake.

Stroll really should check his mirrors, cause he has a habit of turning into a corner when someone's on his inside line, but in this case, the fuck is he supposed to do? Expect that Latifi divebombs him like this was the last corner to decide the titlefight between them?

Wholely unnecessary by Latifi and no fault by Stroll whatsoever imho.

Edit:
Vettel could do a timed lap, slow as it was. But still, I'm happy he managed to do a hot lap during Qualifying, it might allow him to settle into the car and track a tiny bit.

And Mick in Q2 (outperforming K-Mag, no less), so I'm really happy for him!

Edited Edit:
DAYUM. Alonso was on fire that lap, I bet he would have been top 3, such a shame he slipped up. Goes to show, he was pushing his car to the very edge of its performance and taking every inch of track to squeeze as much speed out of the corners as possible... it just needs one tiny misjudgement and all that raw performance throws you into the gravel pit.

But even without finishing this lap, it was a great show of performance and an absolutely amazing display of Alonso's prowess as a driver. Give this guy a decent car, and he'll be champion once more.

Damn this qualifiyng is turning into a car shredding session: Latifi, Stroll, Albon (well he just parked on the side) and now Alonso. Those repair bills are stacking up all right. And Merc seems to be really slow, Hamilton currently 1 second behind Leclerc. He will have to be content with battling Mclaren and Alpine this weekend as it seems

I just watched Q, couldn't stay up for it last night.

What did I say about those two fucking Canuckleheads after P3? I am going to rescind my Canadian citizenship soon if those 2 fucking dolts aren't soon banished to FE or Nascar.

Yeah, sad for Bottas streak ending. Alonso man, I did add him to one of my teams and Alpine too. But surprised Merc did as well as they did. Thought maybe they'd be 7-8 or something. Let's see how good Ferrari is with Sainz in 9th. He has tough people to pass, but if his car has same pace as Leclerc, there should be some good fights there.

Good looking grid though, should be great battle for final podium place if one of the top 3 hit trouble.

Also, Indy, FE, SuperFormula all race this weekend too! And Nascar but I don't watch that any more. Finding time to eat/shit/sleep this weekend is going to be tough! LOL

:story:

Also FIA hit Stroll with a start grid penalty for causing a collision. I heavily disagree with that one, he was driving regularly and it was Latifi who suddenly pounced into the apex inside of Stroll's car. Well, whatever.
I love ya man, but don't agree with you. Stroll needs to check his mirrors and get glasses. I'd put it at 75/25 Stroll's fault. I also love that every time Stroll collides with or blocks another car, he is on radio cursing and blaming other guy, yet 8 times out of 10, he is the one deemed at fault! LOL

They both were in the wrong, but Stroll moved when he should have been watching what Latifi was doing in his mirrors. He had just passed him so he knew he was there. Even after I saw it happened, I was like Stroll penalty coming.

Whatever the case, they are both fucking morons at the end of the day.

No hard feelings, Stroll is a dipshit that never checks his mirrors and he has forced teammates off the track with his utterly bizarre style of racing.
To me, the overtake by Latifi just came too sudden and too out of left field. Stroll could have prevented the crash by checking his mirrors, but I'd say that the maneuver by Latifi was entirely something you don't need to expect.

Well, in the end of the day, it's two drivers that wouldn't be in F1 if it weren't for Daddy's purse, so at least it didn't directly involve any driver that actually earned their seat the hard way.

Of course man! Its all discussion and viewpoints. Not flamewar material.

Yes, I do see your point, but when you say "something you don't need to expect", that is true. But shouldn't an F1 driver be ready to expect anything that could happen? I know we are talking split second decisions most of the time in situations like that, but he obviously didn't check his mirrors or he wouldn't have turned his wheel that slight bit to the right to cause the incident.

But yeah man, no worries at all. In reality, they both should have been penalized when you really think about it!

EDIT-Not that it matters given I rate them the worst 2 drivers in F1 personally, but I rate Stroll a bit higher than Latifi. Stroll has potential to do well, but like I said, he needs fucking glasses or something cause he just damages his own potential to do well with these stupid incidents. Its like when he could have won that Gasly race. What does he do, fucks up on the start. He is a capable driver, but he isn't one of the young guns. He is never talked about in the same breath as Lando, George, Albon, Charlie, Max and he is from there era really. I think if he was in one of those cars, he would not beat whoever his teammate was, including if it was Mick, Tsunoda or Zhou. He'd beat Latifi in same team, but no one else.

Absolutely. And it's the mark of great F1 drivers to have insane amounts of situational awareness that prevents this exact kind of crash under much more stressful situations during a race.
Stroll has the situational awareness of a lobotomized starfish.

Absolutely. I edited my post just after your post to indicate how I rate Stroll (I don't! LOL)

Bets on Latifi not racing tomorrow (due to car destruction mainly) or if he does race, what lap will he crash.

I wholeheartedly agree with what you said. Mazepin was a terrible driver as well and he was -shock of all shocks- a pay-driver, too.

In terms of Stroll, I wouldn't be surprised if being a pay driver wasn't something that's holding him back a lot. If he had gone into every F1 season knowing that he needs to perform well to retain his seat, he would have been forced to learn quickly and improve. The way it was, he never had to struggle to perform, Daddy won't throw him out of the team, no matter what happens.

Basically, every regular driver gets pushed into the water and then either learns to swim or sink to the bottom. Stroll, Latifi, Mazepin and so on never got pushed into the water, they could just chill on Daddy's yacht and take it easy.

The car wasn't unfixable I guess, but it would be a hard piece of work and who knows how intend his team is on wasting this much effort on the car when it might be smarter to just write off the entire weekend. It's kind of an effect of these super long seasons. When you're a backmarker like Williams and you have the choice of fixing your car and starting from the back or just sitting out the race and try again the next weekend, it might be better to go for the latter.

If he does race, I hope he'll stop his car in the pit entry just about when Hamilton needs to come into the pits to change tyres. :story:

That William's budget has got to be feeling a little tight with Latiffi playing destruction derby with the car every week. How far do we think $145 mil lasts when you have to build a new car every couple of weeks (maybe even 2 this time as we haven't had the race yet)? He's definitely pulling money from development if this keeps up.

In other news Albon disqualified for not being able to provide fuel sample.

This is funny, I like Gasly even more than I did before!

Gasly invites FIA to check genitals amidst underwear clampdown

Saturday 9 April 2022 15:05 - Updated: 15:08

AlphaTauri driver Pierre Gasly has invited the FIA to check his genitals in reaction to the furore surrounding the governing body's clampdown on non-fireproof underwear.

On the same weekend a reminder was given about drivers wearing jewellery, race director Niels Wittich has raised the concerns surrounding the safety of underwear that is not fire retardant.

But addressing how the FIA would police the matter, an unhappy Gasly said: "I won't comment on that.

"If they want to check my arse, feel free, I've got nothing to hide. My cock, everything. If that makes them happy, feel free."

Ricciardo unsure if such underwear exists

McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo was also asked about the situation after qualifying seventh for his home grand prix.

Expressing his surprise at the sudden situation, Ricciardo explained: "This was the first time I'd heard about the fireproof underwear.

"Obviously we wear the leggings if you want to call it that, but we don't have actual underwear-underwear that's fireproof, so that was just more of a surprise. I'd never heard of it.

"If it helps keep us a bit safer in those situations then, of course, I'll invest in some. But I don't think they make them.

"Or at least our people that we get our race kit from I don't think, so we're going to have to get some custom ones.

"And I guess it's going to be tailor-made of course!"

I'd love to see a graphic that explains how much of a car gets replaced over the season. Such as new front-wings, sidepods and so on.

I wonder how much actually makes it through a full season, given that many things get replaced. I guess the tub is the only thing that actually makes it through the season (unless there's a heavy crash), but everything else gets replaced at some point. Kinda like the ship of Theseus.

Edit:
Also sucks for Albon. The fuel sample thingy can really bite you in the ass, but sadly it's something that's necessary to make sure that everyone is using the correct fuel without something smuggled into.

Finally an excuse to post underwear pics

They even do hats

I also like how they're clamping down on actually following the rules and safety regulations.

Meanwhile Karen Hamilton has been crying about masks because someone told him to lose the diamond fucking earrings (he had his nose stud in during qualifying).

SmartSelect_20220409-162842_Brave.jpg

I thought Karen there was the most vocal about the FIA having to enforce every single rule to the literal meaning of each and every rule with zero interpretation. It's his basic white bitch style whinging that has brought this new style of race direction down on them all.

LOLOL, well SIR Louise, WHY DIDN'T YOU POLITELY ASK them to put them on? Or throw a tantrum? "You take it and move on." After crying to media about it.

Fucking pansy!

I'd like to see Lewis REALLY lose his shit over something, akin to when Schumi stormed down pitlane at Spa 98 looking to pummel Coulthard. Lewis in similar situation would probably jump up and down, stomp his feet and cry on his shadow-mom's titties.

Hamilton needs to be careful what he wishes for. It has been a safety rule for a long ass time (before he even joined the sport) but has been bothered with on a case by case basis

SmartSelect_20220409-163818_Brave.jpg

After last season and everyone crying about selective rule bending and bringing in someone (a German no less) to enforce the rules absolutely he can't cry that his rule breaking is now being stopped.

Of course being the eternal child he is he announces his intention to deliberately escalate his rule breaking.

SmartSelect_20220409-163848_Brave.jpg

I hope he gets what he wants and absolute rule adherence with an iron fist. Can't be flouting safety rules there hambone.
