Nice japanese marketing to only display the characters available in Smash Bros on the bottom of the poster

Yeah, but whether it's the story or the side content, it's designed to be as obvious as an brick to the face. Speaking of which...

I kind of guessed this as soon as I saw the mural and most of the trailers. And I don't know which difficulty that this screenshot is from, but it's almost concerning.

God fucking dammit. Since when did the Japanese thought it would be a good idea to make dragon children a tradition in Fire Emblem? Since Awakening they have been repeating the same plot point, the protagonists are "secretly" dragons.

Game has been leaked so far, it's an better plot than 3H; which isn't saying much, considering how the only real choice in that game is this.

Where did you get this picture?

Anyway, it makes me nauseous. thnx.

It's up on the standard torrenting sites, gonna see where this shit show leads me.
Alright, I'm in game. No spoilers but the first thing I'm noticing is these weird compression artifacts on the pre-rendered cutscenes. Looks fucking horrible. Bootleg version also doesn't have a profanity filter on your character's name.

How's the relationship system in this new game? As far as 3H went, I think it did an excellent job at showing interesting character relationship development and giving the player a little something with the character of their choice, without going overboard with fanservice like Fates. I'm not the biggest fan of the new character designs but I can be open minded if they're written well enough.

Not hearing a lot of good things about Engage outside of the combat which is kind of hard to mess up. People are going to have high expectations after three houses.

Apparently Clanne's personal Mag growth is garbage, at 10% (approximately 20% is supposedly the average of all the characters). Giving the return of Second Seals purpose, I suppose. Anna also apparently has really Mag growth, but starts as an Axe Fighter.

Boucheron got Rinked with a 20% growth in strength lol.

Also romance not being there and having platonic endings is not that bad since so many characters are minors.

I also hate most S supports.

Maybe it's cope but I expected the side activities and story+character to not be great so I am not really dissapointed.

There's been a bunch of reviews coming out, but I'm still waiting for someone that actually knows their shit and isn't a complete newfag. The second they say "I only played 3H and didn't even beat it" I'm out.

I'm a few chapters into this thing and so far my impressions are... Not good. Like, it's functional as a tactical rpg, but we've sunk below fates in the writing department. All the avatar worship is there in full force and there's literally nothing defining the supporting characters from what I can glean. I've only seen two support conversations so far, so that can change. But as far as background details and driving motivations, I do not fucking know.

Also, do yourself a favor and turn off the English voice acting on the title screen. That shit is un-fucking listenable.

How's the map design?

So just don't buy the game? Yeah. I kinda had a feeling this would be a dud. Didn't think it would be THAT bad.

I'm still firmly in the early game. But, the maps seem fine so far. None of the shitty revaluation gimmicks, or echoes's NES era level design. There was one weird chapter that introduced theives and chests but didn't give me a way to open them. I assume I missed something, might go back later and see if I could have bought a chest key at some point.

Also how's the difficulty? The Break + Ring systems seems to me like it will make the game a cake walk similar to how the infinite grinding and OP items in SS, Awakening and Fates absolutely raped the difficulty of those games.

Here, I'll post some story content to show some more clarity.

The story so far goes something like this. You take the role of a divine dragon God with amnesia. They rip off the Awakening dream sequence thing where you fight a boss inside your head. You then wake up in some ornate bedroom with three retainers who immediately begin worshiping the ground you walk on and filling you in on the fact that you were injured in a battle a thousand years ago and have been sleeping in either a pocket dimension or a floating island. I don't really know yet, nobody clarified it in the text and the over world map makes it look more like an island.
You leave and fight some faceless undead goons. The main character has a panic attack at first because these things are clearly what he fought before but the game wants to piddle dick around it for some reason. This is where the emblem ring mechanic is introduced. It's just an install that gives you a new weapon, some skills, and a few passive bonus stats. It doesn't seem too egregious to me so far.
After that, you learn that your mother has been waiting for a thousand years for you to wake up. She's a dragon, so I guess I can buy into that. So, you have a tutorial chapter and then she just fucking dies. Yep... You get to know her for about ten minutes, and she's just gone. The game tries really hard to sell you on her death scene too. But like... I just met this woman and now you're trying to get me to feel emotionally devistated. What's even weirder is the way her outfit is designed, you're constantly staring down her cleavage while she's dying. Not that I mind my characters in sexy outfits mind you. But, when it breaks the tone like this, it just makes a bad situation even worse.

That's about everything important that's happened so far. I've fought a few battles since then, but nothing too major has happened.

I'm playing on Normal/Classic right now. The last thing I want from this game is for its story to be bad in addition to the rest of the game being tedious to sit through. But, from that perspective, it's easy as piss. The only time I restarted was when a boss was using a bow and one shot my peg knight from full health. Wasn't paying attention to the fact that the enemy I put her in range of could kill her.
