Well the big worry for normies (like us) is that when Square Enix gets sick of this and starts coming after mods, that they're going to come after all of them.I never bothered with mods nor touched the RP scene in any form so none of this modding/mare shit affects me.
Yeah, really the primary issues is that some mods are core and should be officially adopted, such as NoClippy which makes your game operate and send data as if it was 20ms, which is a major plus since it prevents all clipping from skills from lag and just in general makes the combat feedback better, this basically means for people like me who play cross-continent, it is essentially necessary for some jobs.Yeah that’s a good point, I don’t blame people for being worried about the future of modding.
To be clear, that's not what I use addons for."It's only quality of life (removes 99% of buttons)"
You can grind deez nuts in your mouth.Guess I'm grinding Rarefied Gemdraughts of Vitality and Claro Walnut Flat Brushes
If we're talking DoH/DoL specifically, Artisan going would be irritating, but I could live without it. Raphael has an external site for generating macros, worst case scenario would be I'd craft less simply because I got sick of hitting my macros over and over. Same with Gatherbuddy - while I love how I can just click and teleport to the node with a job swap to boot, there's already tools out there I've used before and would use again for timed nodes and the like. So yeah I'd still do DoH and DoL content, I'd just be pissing and moaning about it more like I used to.Since you guys are talking about DoH DoL shit I'm just curious what mod going away would affect you the most in this hypothetical doomsday scenario (that's never going to happen btw) that mods do go away? Would you still play with DoH DoL content without it?
I don't bother with mods. Not out of some fake and gay moral crusade, I'm just used to how the vanilla game feelsSince you guys are talking about DoH DoL shit I'm just curious what mod going away would affect you the most in this hypothetical doomsday scenario (that's never going to happen btw) that mods do go away? Would you still play with DoH DoL content without it?
I'm just curious cause for me for combat content the only plugin I'd most be affected by is NoClippy but I'd probably still play without it it'd just be annoying. I do Tuesday reclears just fine without it on patch days.
It would be off brand to go after mods like that. FF XI is factually not playable without mods any more and they never did anything about those.Well the big worry for normies (like us) is that when Square Enix gets sick of this and starts coming after mods, that they're going to come after all of them.
I have 0 graphical mods but they can take my /mbard or market board pricing mod over my dead body.

The only ingame plugin I use for DoL stuff is gatherbuddy. It's basically a giant excel spreadsheet that shows all nodes and timers and if you click on an item it'll swap your class, teleports you to the nearest aetherythe, and puts a pin on the minimap. I'd still do what needs to be done for gear upgrade stuff but I would never do anything besides the bare minimum without it.Since you guys are talking about DoH DoL shit I'm just curious what mod going away would affect you the most in this hypothetical doomsday scenario (that's never going to happen btw) that mods do go away? I doubt all plugins would be taken out. Yoshi isn't that heartless and he knows that there are a lot of good quality plugins that help improve the game a lot for the people who play as well as people that just want to have some fun.If we lose all the quality of life plugins because of them I am gonna lose it.
I know it hasn't only been Japanese teams that use addons to cheat at ultimate, but it must have hit harder that twice in a row, it was "world first" teams on Yoshi's side of the pond that were exposed using those types of tools to cheat. I know we got the "development costs" official reason but I wonder if part of the reason the next Ultimate is taking so long is coming to a decision on what they're going to do about cheaters. (Or potentially, they want the whiteboard feature theyre developing live in time for the Ult too)The only thing I have my eyebrow raised at is add ons that basically help people cheat in difficult content. Because Yoshi is at a point where he either needs to get rid of those cheaters, or stop making ultimates altogether and it's pretty unfair to punish a whole group of people because of the actions of a few bad actors. I don't think the "everybody cheats" cope is going to last.
