At this point I just want Kate fired or to quit because I’m sick of not just her shitty behavior and immaturity but also of the fandom’s fixation on not shutting up about her and milking the drama for youtube views. Calling her antics out was good and I do think it’s necessary to shine a light on the consequences of her actions for the game. The problem is just like every thing else with DT’s discourse nowadays it feels like people are just running the drama into the ground because it gives them attention.

This is another reason I want 8.0 to be a massive step up, so that people can finally get enough interesting content and story to focus on discussing instead of running out of things to talk about a week after a patch release and milking the same drama to death.

8.0 could be the biggest, bestest expansion ever released for XIV and the same retinue of morons will still be moaning that there isn't enough content or whatever.

I'd rather her gone simply because the localization process for DT was atrocious. All the other shit, like her obnoxious opinions about criticism, the suspected nepotism with getting Sena Bryer (and a few other VAs) hired, and her idiotic politics and her using 'lore' as a means to backdoor shit in that otherwise wouldn't fly aren't really material to me but should be grounds for canning her ass.

The simple fact of the matter is that she'd need to crash out even further in public socials before anything happens to her. She's not going anywhere, as it takes forever for these types of turds to get dislodged. (How long was Danuser a narrative lead for World of Warcraft, for example.)

I know Xeems doesn't know how to steer his "interviews" which just consist of him listening to them yap about dumb useless shit that doesn't contribute to what he's interviewing them about at all instead of keeping them on track and asking actual questions of substance.

God speed to anyone willing to listen to this 3 hour long hot mess to gather any actual noteworthy information.
 
Modbeasts keep claiming they NEED mods because they can't make their characters look how they want in game. But while they probably won't touch the character creator I bet the whole reason there's so many hideous modern glams recently is SE saw the kinds of clothes the modding community likes.

I'm only sorry I missed the Mare drama, the Kate/Lamatodd drama. And whatever is happening with Happy's new girfriend.

Where Mare fucked up is running their own servers - essentially they were knowingly hosting and transmitting copyrighted assets as an intermediary and I imagine the SE suits were not happy about this,

My dumb theory is that they wanted to curb degeneracy because of either China or Visa. And present a more wholesome face due to the possible global launch of FF14 mobile.

If you need your character to look like an abomination ripped straight outta furry second life to not have a brain conniption, then you're playing the wrong game. Most of the modbeasts I see are the ugliest things I've ever had the misfortune to lay my eyes on. They tend to over do it and it just looks like some shit toon they ported from a failed chinese mmo where they decided to slap on every customizable option possible on. Don't get me started on the awful tattoo mods and the exaggerated proportions.

It looks awful, doesn't fit into the rest of the game and I can only sigh in relief that so long as I stay off twitter, I won't have to see any of these wierdos roleplaying their nasty fetishes.

You're not gonna mention all the people who sexualize and fetishsize lalafell? The folks who want to roleplay as children being groomed and or sexually abused and exploited? The folk who fetishsize and roleplay doing the aforementioned grooming and sexualizing and abusing of children?

While it's a relief that they engage in that sort of behavior in a make-believe fashion (most of the time), the fact that they need a place, excuse, or justification to vent out these fantasies at all has incredibly dark implications.

And I just love the cope these weirdo MAPs use to excuse what they do. Because if your response to all this is "well at least I'm not doing this to REAL kids" instead of "you're right, I shouldn't be having these disgusting fetishes and fantasies about children at all", then I believe you should do the world a favor and kill yourself immediately.

Not to be too mean, but I've increasingly taken notice how bad FFXIV players actually are at designing characters.
I remember during the first pass at the character overhaul a lot of the people bitching had absolutely atrocious characters. Yeah, the rework was awful and it took until this patch for some shit to get fixed. But I did notice that.
Then you check the subreddit and even pop in game and people will go "look at my scrimblo bimblo! This is Glub Shitto, my character I've played for twenty years! I love her so much!"
And then you look at the character and its just a fucking abomination.

I'm just fascinated by how dogshit most vanilla characters are combined with how bad the modbeasts are. Like these dudes just cannot work a character creator nor can they be trusted with Penumbra.

I have this sneaking suspicion that they may just be going panic-mode. For all the cope of "so it's back to SB numbers, so what? the game's not dying," that is not how corporations work. Corporations don't assume they're going to hemorrhage huge chunks of their revenue stream apropos of nothing.

I think Hiroi was originally intended to write more than just this one expansion. I wouldn't be surprised if they had started working on a skeleton written by him, only to have to abandon everything about it and never let him touch the lead writer's chair again.

All that said, yeah, much more likely is that the team is just being managed in a completely incompetent way and we're looking at a Bioware situation: the leads are completely fucking clueless and wasting time on extremely basic things because they're fundamentally unfit for the role and were phoning in all of their work. Advancing in the project without really having any clue or ability, their ineptitude having been covered for by far-more-competent peers.

I've been an on again and off again player since around the Shadowbringers era. My original server was Balmung back at the start of 2.0, and I remember my first time back after awhile and seeing 'Mare' in everyone's bios and being so confused as to what the fuck that even was. I assumed it was some kinda fetish shit because of Balmung's reputation, but one day I PM'd someone and asked. They said it was for sharing mods.

I think, "Ah that's pretty nifty." so I download it. My character is pretty much vanilla. I am a roleplayer and I did have some mods to my character (mostly I just made his coloring pop a bit more), adjusted his height a tad, but in general I actually enjoyed the asthetic to FFXIV back in the Heavensward/Stormblood days before they started adding all this weird Cyberpunk/Steampunk shit. Find a sync shell to join and holy shit the abominations.

I do not understand how some people think like HH cup tits are going to look good on your 4' tall cat girl. Or why some people think its totally cool to just walk around naked or in your lingere all the time. If the style and art direction of Dawntrail hadn't been offputting enough, the post Covid "FF Roleplay is clubbing" crowd certainly did. I don't know how or why we ended up with these absolute retards that equate going to someone's FC Hall and turning on a twitch stream with roleplay, but holyshit, it ruined the game so thorougly for me, in concert with how just cringe and gay the community constantly is, that I have attempted to play only like twice since DT came out and made essentially no progress before logging out again.

I can't even think of a really cursed vanilla character combo, this luckily isn't one of those Dark Souls games. I will take any vanilla XIV character over the absolute dread that modders make.
