Does the concept of cranial protection exist in this game? I could never get into anime games because they are so averse to helmets in the fashion endgame.

For Heavy armor melee classes mostly. Hairstyle is more important than protection.Does the concept of cranial protection exist in this game? I could never get into anime games because they are so averse to helmets in the fashion endgame.
Only if you don't pick Viera or Hrothgar, unless you're comfortable with modding, 95% of shit-that-goes-in-your-head does not work for them.Does the concept of cranial protection exist in this game? I could never get into anime games because they are so averse to helmets in the fashion endgame.
They really seem to overcomplicate this stuff but it's not too different from SWTOR. There are a few really nice sets that have helmets in there that look neat. Just worried about Asian MMO prices like "9999999999 gold for a used tissue" flooding the player market.Only if you don't pick Viera or Hrothgar, unless you're comfortable with modding, 95% of shit-that-goes-in-your-head does not work for them.
Caster classes get incresingly ridiculous oversized hats, heavy classes get some very nice helmets, light ones for melee they are all over the place, and light ranged are a mix of headbands, ribbons and cowboy hats.
There's also a few "generic" pieces which will allow you to transmog any armor "weight" on, like the replica allagan set, but they're only a few, event armors usually serve this function too but I believe there was only one event ever that offered a set of heavy armor (and another that offered heavy helmets) there, it's mostly summer and halloween stuff.
Edit : you can look up armor sets and sort by class, gender, etc in https://ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/ (going gearsets>tanks in that site will let you see most if not all of the heavy sets, heavy dps sets are often very similar but there's exceptions) there are also player made "fashion" pieces tough a lot of them fucking suck; be wary all player made screenshots are heavily filtered and modded, the game does not look that good.
FF14, until the release of 16, was about the only profitable thing under Square Enix's radar. None of the items confer meaningful in-game bonuses, and in general the sub is a few bucks cheaper than most MMO competitors', so it doesn't bother me as much. Milking this game's retarded playerbase seems like a blessing for the wider world. Not a good sign that they already want you to shill out for microtransactions before you've even finished installing the game.
It's not as bad in-game, any stuff you see in the cash shop is purely cosmetic. But yes, there's plenty of good stuff available in-game especially realistic helmets if that's what you wanted. They really seem to overcomplicate this stuff but it's not too different from SWTOR. Going to try the free trial. Not a good sign that they already want you to shill out for microtransactions before you've even finished installing the game. However all expansions seem to be available for 1 half off price so may as well check it out.
In my opinion magic jobs suck right now. Red mage spends lot of the time in melee and summoner in gameplay is closer to physical ranged dps. Black mage really is the closest one to a typical magic job like in other games. I'm a black mage player myself and I think it one of the best classes in the game, but it has a bit of a learning curve. It has some mobility options, but you can only use them like once every minute.Anyone have suggestions for a magic job? I was considering either Black Mage or Red Mage; Black has much higher damage, but is basically a turret from what I understand, while Red Mage is a good deal more mobile, but also a bit weaker from what I've heard.
Red Mage is an easier class that offers up more versatility, Summoner is for drooling retards, and Black Mage is like black coffee - if you love it, you love it, but it's a really particular taste. Red Mage has a pretty straightforward rotation but it has enough panache in animation that it doesn't really feel boring, and you will still be cycling through a lot of different keys even if it's a game of whack-a-mole. It does have elements of randomness baked in, but they aren't as bad as something like Dancer. People will yell at you to rez, but only in content that comes before RDM gets the rez. You can save a lot of Duty Finder retard parties in this way, and for the most part if you've got one competent tank and yourself, you can clear almost any raid / trial after the idiots all drop off.Anyone have suggestions for a magic job? The rotation is pretty simple. The difficulty comes from learning the fights and knowing when and how to move so you don't lose dps. Some content becomes kinda of annoying how much you have to try hard if you don't want to be a useless. Black mage doesn't have any party utility so you kinda need to play somewhat decently.
Sidequests in Vesper Bay introduce the Glamour system. The ability to make Glamour Prisms unlock by leveling a non-murder job to 15.How do we use the transmog system? Still nothing in game on custom outfits besides the default option to hide/unhide headgear
Especially when you have to go to the expansion regions. I just have the main cites as the Return Point and the closest set as my 2fa return pointfast travel system is annoying.
To see who's desperate enough to take it seriouslyWhy are also they shilling the in game marriage service to new players? I got a good laugh out of that.
Chances are you wont get to this level but in Savage/Ultimate content Red Mage under performs because the better the group the less value a Red Mage Brings. Red Mages do less damage than the Black mages and Summoners while being more complex, having a melee phase and honestly having less movement options than a black mage in high level gameplay.Yeah, I have heard that the magic jobs are in a pretty bad position right now; here's hoping SE fixes them sometime soon.
Admittedly, I do prefer to play Melee jobs more often, so RDM does actually sound like my job of choice.
Also, to @Rich Evans Ayypologist, from what you've posted, it does look like RDM is exactly what I was looking for; I admit, while the classic mage gameplay of Black Mage or the paste-eater gameplay of Summoner sounds like fun, I do enjoy a degree of versatility to my job choices. The ease of usage sounds like a bonus, frankly.
So, RDM it is, I think.
Thanks to both of you!
So that's the only one you can play from level 1. To unlock Scholar, you have to level Arcanist (a DPS class) to 30, at which point it becomes 2 classes (summoner and scholar). This is a remnant of an older system whereby you had to mix-and-match levels of the 'base' classes to be able to promote into the other ones, and for some reason they couldn't stomach making scholar a straight-progression version like how CNJ->WHM works. Well, more accurately, this game is a creaking behemoth erected atop a mountain of old, restrictive, discarded decisions.Trying to play as a healer class and picked Conjurer.
It's an MMO in 2023. They're talking all the time in discord. And believe you me, you don't want to hear them.No one talks in game either. Despite that aspect being all I hear about this game all the time.
Do note that you don't actually have to be able to make them to get them - you can buy them from the market board or from various other merchants pretty easily, and they're cheap as dirt. So they're not a rare commodity or anything, like they are in some other games. The ability to make Glamour Prisms unlock by leveling a non-murder job to 15.
Well, it depends on what your goal is, really. If your goal is just to clear, barring the early-week prog of Ultimates, honestly the difference in performance between the classes is rarely going to be what tanks a group's shot. So to say, there aren't really trap jobs. If your goal, by contrast, is to parse and to have the fastest clear time, then yeah, you're kindof locked out of the 'trap' jobs.In retard content it doesn't matter because it's impossible to lose but a RDM that doesnt have to emergency Rezz healers during prog is useless.

I know a lot of Black Mage mains who also play Red Mage for Prog until they learn the fight then swap.

No one talks in game either.
The trial includes the expac with the three jobs since they're locked to a specific city so it's a matter of getting there. They don't do that anymore. Potions have been quietly phased out for not being too useful outside of certain instances like early levelling without a healer, Deep Dungeons and hard content.Trying to play as a healer class and picked Conjurer. Its been fairly boring so far at level 20 since most quests are boring fetch quests or "kill x amount of enemies." Health potions are not necessary so far because I can just heal 50% of my hp at any time. Found a few armor pieces I liked on that fashion site that was recommended earlier but it feels so far away and I can't play as an astrologist because I didn't buy the DLC yet. No one talks in game either. Despite that aspect being all I hear about this game all the time.
How do we use the transmog system? Still nothing in game on custom outfits besides the default option to hide/unhide headgear and the fast travel system is annoying.
Also ignored the shilled college course on using the UI because its more japanese hammering home of basic shit. While leaving out important details like the "equip recommended gear" button I found on my own and the insane lack of tooltips in the UI that would easily remove the need for that college course. Why are also they shilling the in game marriage service to new players? I got a good laugh out of that.
And he wasn't even the first character to do it, Papalymo knew ahead of time.Zenos chose to self-delete rather than share anymore screentime with Lyse
