persona Q2. think the game gets alot of shit for not selling well on a system that is long dead. liked the theme and story far more than persona 5s anyway. it was fun too break the gameplay in half by end game.

Watch Dogs 2.

I've played both, but liked the tone change from the first one to the second one.

More varied gameplay than GTA V. Movement was more fluid than Watch Dogs and GTA. More options for tackling missions. And no towers.

I heard it underperformed compared to Watch Dogs 1. Shame, one of Ubisoft's best games yet.

I wish Phantom Crash/S.L.A.I and Hawken got more love. I haven't played any other games that have S.L.A.I's drop-in/drop-out arena.

Sleeping Dogs is a million times better than GTA.

GTA has sucked since San Andreas.

I personally didn't think Sleeping Dogs was as good as everyone made it out to be. It was a good game, but not much of an open world one.

Watch Dogs 2.

I have both ready to play and I'm most looking forward to 2. I love its look compared to the first one. I have my doubts involving Ubi, but I'll give them a fair shot. I've been wrong before going into things.

Not sure if they really count as underrated, seeing as how they're pretty well-praised by most who played them, still I do feel the Sly Cooper series is relatively niche as far as platformers go, (possibly due to people looking at the games and associating them with furries) so I might as well talk about them.

The original trilogy in particular had great stories, characters and stealth/platforming gameplay. The first one, as much as it holds a special place in my heart is admittedly a game that was still trying to find its footing and was held back a bit by what was standard in 3D platformers at the time.

Second game was on a whole other level. It took the best parts of the original's gameplay and placed it into an open-world/mission based kind of structure, where Sly and crew do a bunch of small jobs that ultimately build up to a big heist at the end of each episode. Really made you feel you were playing as a group of professional thieves. Had quite a few twists and turns in it as well so it never felt predictable.

Third game suffered the same sort of problems a lot of "third games" in its genre suffered at the time. Shorter development cycle, loads of gimmicks and mini-games in lieu of actually good mission and level design, ect. Unlike Jak 3 and R&C: Up Your Arsenal however, I feel it did a satisfactory job overall and ended the series on a pretty high note story wise. (If you're willing to ignore plot conveniences and contrivances)

Also I always found the fact that the main character Sly, a thief, having flirtatious banter and romantic feelings towards someone trying to arrest him very quirky and endearing. Stuff like that really gives a game flavor, you know?

Less said about Thieves in Time the better.

Infamous 1 and 2 were overlooked open world games at the time it came out.

In the second game, powers and abilities were different depending on your Karma level, gameplay controls were easy, so shocking NPCs and shockwaving cars at them were fun. The plot in the first and second game was average but still held up with good gameplay and graphics.

Personally, I have a soft spot for both Postal and Postal 2.

The first Postal has a more darker and sarcastic tone than the second entry. It's also decent little time isometric shooter. I usually play the Android version whenever I'm in the bus going to school. The only gripe I have about this game originally used tank controls. Thankfully, Running With Scissors patched it out so you can use dual-analog controls.

Postal 2 is more goofier and slapsticky than the first game. Instead of being a isometric shooter, it's an FPS game running on Unreal Engine 2. It's a really funny and enjoyable game, despite its flaws.

Musashi: Samurai Legend for the PS2
Name another stupid hack&slash game that let's me damage enemies by throwing girls at them.
It's not amazing, but it's a lot of fun for a trashy nonsequel.

Kane & Lynch video game series should have more attention on here in this thread.

But I can’t forget about these from the PS3 and PC:

Most indie games don't get the attention they deserve (though some of those are doing alright), if you're looking for something fun here's a list

Antichamber - more abstract Portal in non-euclidean space
Manfold Garden - another non-euclidean game with added element of sequentially repeating objects
Superliminal - game operating on dream logic
Outer Wilds - explore a tiny solar system
Return of the Obra Dinn - detective accounting game, hard to explain
Cradle - FPP adventure game with great lore and climate
Salt and Sanctuary - 2D Dark Souls
Hand of Fate 1/2 - rougelite card games with TPP combat
Frozen Synapse - simple but effective tactics game
Transistor/Pyre - less known supergigant games
The Sexy Brutale - murder mystery (not porn i swear)
Vane - very technologically advanced something

I think Super Princess Peach is an alright platformer-then again, I haven't played it in forever.

Crackdown is a pretty good game. I guess it isn't underrated, but I rarely see anyone talk about it.

Great graphics, great music, good gameplay, descent story, hard as fuck if you wanted to get everything

and for some reason, it sold like shit back in the day (:_(
Also an awesome and unique OST for a SNES game.

Barony is a good little RPG game that's easy to just jump in and try to do a dungeon crawl in.
Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (i know it's a cult classic and I also don't care)
Dishonored 1 and 2

Return of the Obra Dinn. Criminally underrated imo but also unfortunately only good for 1 playthrough, but it's a great playthrough.

I recently stumbled upon Faith, a horror game with Atari 2600 grafix that has a 3 chapter demo in Steam.

The game is clunky but works extremely well and the distorted sound and fluid cutscenes make it look really unsettling. The game is about a priest in the 80s in the US who exorcizes demons and fights a satanic cult, but the game also leaves room to ambiguity on if all is real or not.

It was damn worth it to pick it up and i can't wait for it to come out.

Edit: there is a really noteworthy yet disturbing detail about the game. The Dev used audio recorded from a real exorcism for a part in the game and due to the distorted sound output it sounds terribly freakish.

Sunset Overdrive. No questions asked. The game play is so goddamn fun and is just oozing in style. Story is meh, but the game play and customization options sure make up for it. :gunt:

Gotta be Terranigma. A lil' old SNES ARPG (think link to the past with stats, though the combat is more reminiscent of Secret of Mana) that only came out in Japan and Europe. At first the story concerns "resurrecting the world", from the land itself to the flora and fauna, and then humanity itself, but once the 2nd half of the game hits some real dark shit starts to unfold. Aside from that it's a very well realized game with a lot of neat little things to uncover, though by the end of the game it becomes apparent that both technical and time limitations stepped in and hampered what could have been a truly amazing work. Of these neat little things my favorite was the sidequests where you went around helping various small towns develop into huge cities by helping key historical figures with making their famous inventions (among other things). Also the ending made me cry like a bitch for a week straight. 9/10, even with its flaws it's very much worth playing, though Bloody Mary can suck my dick.

Also some other favorites:

-Prison Architect; simple art style, good building mechanics (could use a few tweeks), has prisoner escape mode,

-Middle Earth: Shadow Of War; don't have to be a lord of the rings fan to play, orc personalities are diverse and sometimes hillarious. fun and addictive game play, 50-100 hours of content,

Super Blood Hockey; cute pixel art style, YOUR ACTIONS HAVE CONCEQUENCES, drugs, fun gameplay,
