I wonder if this "bigender" kid will be mentally co-erced into writing YOI bigender porn in collaboration with his/her mother once s/he reaches puberty
For fuck's sake, a seven-year-old shouldn't even know what the hell fan fiction is. Yes, kids pretty much
write/
role-play fan fiction if they're really into a show they like, but they don't know that because they're
kids. This person is already grooming their child into reading fan fiction and probably doesn't give a shit about what they're coming across.
Parents need to either stop contributing to a fandom once they have children to take care of (highly recommended), or keep that shit to themselves.
So today I learned about Farla.
What a strange situation to be in. I’m more curious about what Farla did to reach this level of infamy within her fandom. Is she really prolific in giving negative reviews? Because I doubt she could get a reputation that bad by just being a whiny darkfic writer.
I'm fucking sleep-deprived so I'm kinda skimming right now, but I'm screaming with laughter on the inside, too, because I love it when new writers come across Farla. She is...
quite something. I don't know what it was that pushed her to the edge into thinking her shit doesn't stink, but she really and truly believes herself to be an elitist writer despite despising fan fiction as a whole. She tends to go on "reviewing sprees" in January for Pokémon fics, at least from what I was able to gather, but Pokémon's her biggest go-to fandom for bitching and copy-pasting reviews on random fics that catch her eye. She doesn't really have a pattern as to who or what she reviews, but you can bet your ass that if your Pokémon fic has you capitalizing the Pokémon species (such as "a flock of Pidgey"), she's going to callously point out to you that "You wouldn't capitalize animal or mouse or dragon, so you shouldn't capitalize words like pokemon or pikachu or charizard. The only time you should capitalize it is if you're using it as the pokemon's name, ie, Ash's pikachu is called Pikachu. This is because you only capitalize when it's a proper noun, which are the names of places or things. Similar reasoning should be applied to any other words you're thinking of capitalizing, like telephone or trainer. Or professor."
(Actual quote, am pretty certain it's a copy-pasta.)
Like who the fuck cares, lady.
She once published a whole fic in SPPf, a popular Pokémon forum, and got butthurt over people liking her Mary Sue character [who was portrayed about as Sue-ish as Luke Skywalker was in the movies] that she went on a whole rant about how SPPf sucked for not getting the character was a Mary Sue.
I didn't get to see it in real time, but it's honestly quite hilarious how serious she took herself with that, and how she ended up smearing her readers by the end of the story. That's how much of a bitch she is, I'm honestly shocked that TV Tropes has recommended the story under their "fan fic recommendation" because it was clearly meant to be a scathing "take that" to everyone, there's nothing clever about it.
SPPf in general has a bit of a history with reviewers and fan fic writers, to be honest. I can't relay everything since I wasn't always there to witness them, but I'll tell a quick one I'm a bit more familiar with. One of the most infamous reviewers they've ever had was a user by the name of Yami Ryu, who was
worse than Farla. I don't think she ever wrote any fics, but she never sugarcoated her reviews, she outright would tell writers to stop writing or compared them to shit and other unpleasant things--she'd get banned sometimes because of this, then I think she got permabanned or something I dunno. Although interestingly enough, she had
still made the attempt to give good criticism under that callousness, hence why writers who "survived" her onslaughts actually pushed themselves to get better, and they would give her the credit. Most of them went on to be some of the better-known writers on the board (weird as that sounds, but in a community like Serebii, you get to recognize names), pretty much succeeding her as reviewers.
Yami Ryu passed away from cancer some years back, which was a shock to everyone when they found out. She left behind quite an impression on the community, however, many veterans have left Serebii by now, so unless you were to go looking through their massive backlog of fics, you wouldn't know she existed.
I'm kinda in a hurry to go looking for better examples, but this was her if you really are curious as to the kinds of reviews she wrote:
