I can't believe I haven't seen this thread before. Time for me to drop all the creepy Nintendo fanfictions I've been saving.

Here's my favorite, it's a long one, be warned.

And that's only in the first chapter, holy shit.

EDIT: Holy fuck, I'm only thirteen chapters in this trainwreck and I can't look away. What was this guy on, I want some of that shit.

Dedede's dialogue reads like he's directly from the Kirby anime dub and I can hardly breathe.

There's a reason it's my favorite. It gets crazier the further in you go. Just wait until the reveal.

Unfortunately I have no idea what you mean by "reveal", so much crazy shit happens and the references get more and more ridiculous. Pretty sure the author has lost their mind.

You'll know it when you see it.

The only reveals I can think of is that all the characters in Smash Bros. are sentient and live(d) in Miyamoto's and Sakurai's offices/places with Mario having a father complex, I guess, and that Samus and Peach were lesbian lovers (except that was already revealed/hinted at in an author's note early on) along with the fact everyone has basically slept with each other at least once before their memories were wiped, which they were red-pilled on.

Or that Fi is basically the one behind everything as the AI, I don't really remember anymore. It's such a dense story I can hardly remember details at this point.

It's that. And then the Randian sperging at the end made my day.

Anyway, now I'm just gonna drop another one for you to read. This one's less dense but also a bit less funny.

I kind of get the feeling that this one is more wish fulfillment and less deranged manifesto.

Speaking of Mario fics, I've seen there's quite an unsettling bit of "Mario kills his brother" fics--like it's not a lot, but they exist, and all I can think of is, "Why?" Sure, those of us with younger siblings have probably not liked them and will fight with them a lot, but wanting to kill them is downright psychotic. And the Mario Bros. are pretty much the iconic brother duo out there.

"Red" was one of my first exposures to this, and it just makes me sad that it even exists. The author has also written Mario/Luigi incest fics prior to that one-shot.

Those tend to be written by people a-logging the fictional character Mario, believing he mistreats his brother due to Luigi not showing up that much during the late SNES-N64 era (generally regulated to spinoffs like Kart, Party, & Golf).

Ah, yes, like with Game Theory. Either that or edgelords writing stupid crap to be edgy is my hypothesis.

I wonder if this "bigender" kid will be mentally co-erced into writing YOI bigender porn in collaboration with his/her mother once s/he reaches puberty

They probably won't. They'll move directly to pimping the kid out to adults.

How much you wanna bet the kid made the characters "bigender" and "genderfluid" so it wouldn't be gay.

Did someone say Mario/Luigi incest? Because I have Memories of that shit. Mariochan and Winter-Stardust on DeviantArt were especially, er, proficient in producing that stuff, though W-S's stories are deleted and Mariochan deleted their entire account. Makes me wish I'd saved that crap for posterity, and by that I mean saved it to traumatize you fine folks with. ;)

So today I learned about Farla.

Thanks to a hard-hitting review she left on one of my fanfics I suddenly found a slew of PMs in my inbox warning me about this enigma of an author and how bad she is. While she was fairly tough with me I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow - surely it was just angry fanfic authors just being upset that she'd dared to point out the flaws in their work, right?

Well... somehow I don't think that's the case.

This woman is something else. I know that there's a thread about her in the Proving Grounds section but I don't know if it's worth reviving it over my opinions. This is more about her fanfics (or at least I'll try to make this more about her fanfics) than her ego. I also realise that these fics might not be all that horrifying, but are meh at best imo which could bring up some interesting discussion here.

First up is this fanfic - which is quite short, but comes across as kinda fetish-y to me. Less in the sense that it's a story about a Zorua who can't "please his master" and more Farla's apparent need to make things dark and edgy - a common theme in her work.

Another common theme found in her works is that she's really into the idea that all trainers in the pokemon universe are dicks, regardless of setting, background (or what little of it there is in her works). Prime examples of this are in her older works such as this and modern works like the aforementioned zorua story and this moemon fanfic. They act really over the top kind of abusive that they almost come across as parodies of the typical abusive trainers you can find in darkfics and it appears that she's being completely serious about it.

As a side note she also apparently thinks that one female professor from the pokemon anime being called the name Ivy is sexist, which I found quite amusing. It's like Trudeau telling Canadians to call mankind "peoplekind".

Anybody else here gone through her other works? She's written quite a lot over the years and I don't have enough time to sift through all of them.

What a strange situation to be in. I’m more curious about what Farla did to reach this level of infamy within her fandom. Is she really prolific in giving negative reviews? Because I doubt she could get a reputation that bad by just being a whiny darkfic writer.

If she has a really combative personality then she’s probably got real potential as a cow.

Update after a little bit of research: it seems she has a bit of a cult following, she’s also using the FF.net forums as a personal blog.

Fascinating

She once published a whole fic in SPPf, a popular Pokémon forum, and got butthurt over people liking her Mary Sue character [who was portrayed about as Sue-ish as Luke Skywalker was in the movies] that she went on a whole rant about how SPPf sucked for not getting the character was a Mary Sue.

She also is very much a caustic reviewer with the average temper of MovieBob and Dobson. She really can't stand not having her way and the stuff reported in the thread is very much evidence of it.

Also the hilarious thing is that, for a pro-Sarkeesian personality, she and her bootlickerfriend Act were more unhappy that people thought they disliked Ivy's outfit, because a drunk-looking woman in a labcoat over a bathing suit is less offensive or denigrating than her name choice.

Go ahead and revive the thread. We might as well learn what her review was.

Oh man, Farla. Anyone who can put that much thought and devotion into getting angry at a series about magical animals beating the crap out of each other heroically, and ESPECIALLY at fanfics about said series, is a Supreme Sperglord. And that's not even going into how she hateplayed Pokemon Black and wrote the world's bitchiest review blog about it.

Oh fuck, I know about this chick. One of my mates from highschool got an interesting review from her, she got angry about how you shouldn't capitalize a pokemon's name and some other things. Also, check out her profile, notice anything?

She's been at this for 17 fucking years.

Oh, while we're on the subject of fanfiction reviewers, allow me to introduce Critics United. It's been known since the creation of fanfiction.net that the admins of the site don't really uphold the rules of the site, until they do like in 2002 and 2012 for NC-17 (aka MA) rated fics, this gave way to self employed janitors of sorts who go looking for fanfiction that break any kind of rules. Critics United is one of the more infamous ones, since they actively search for fics to report and have done so for about 7 years now.

What they do is they search for any fanfiction that breaks any rules (MA content, script fic, chat fic, truth or dare, MST ect) no matter how old or dead it is and they leave a review like so

Screenshot_212.png
Screenshot_213.png
Screenshot_216.png

And a couple of the members do weekly reporting.

Screenshot_217.png

ZadArchive is a Forum Admin as well, also notice the reason "Need Some Food" was reported is chat/script fic? Keep that in mind for the next screencap

Screenshot_218.png

Critics United have also been blamed for the 2012 NC-17 Purge, or at least they made the purge larger than it would have been thanks to their reporting.

I wonder if this "bigender" kid will be mentally co-erced into writing YOI bigender porn in collaboration with his/her mother once s/he reaches puberty

For fuck's sake, a seven-year-old shouldn't even know what the hell fan fiction is. Yes, kids pretty much write/role-play fan fiction if they're really into a show they like, but they don't know that because they're kids. This person is already grooming their child into reading fan fiction and probably doesn't give a shit about what they're coming across.

Parents need to either stop contributing to a fandom once they have children to take care of (highly recommended), or keep that shit to themselves.

So today I learned about Farla.

What a strange situation to be in. I’m more curious about what Farla did to reach this level of infamy within her fandom. Is she really prolific in giving negative reviews? Because I doubt she could get a reputation that bad by just being a whiny darkfic writer.

I'm fucking sleep-deprived so I'm kinda skimming right now, but I'm screaming with laughter on the inside, too, because I love it when new writers come across Farla. She is... quite something. I don't know what it was that pushed her to the edge into thinking her shit doesn't stink, but she really and truly believes herself to be an elitist writer despite despising fan fiction as a whole. She tends to go on "reviewing sprees" in January for Pokémon fics, at least from what I was able to gather, but Pokémon's her biggest go-to fandom for bitching and copy-pasting reviews on random fics that catch her eye. She doesn't really have a pattern as to who or what she reviews, but you can bet your ass that if your Pokémon fic has you capitalizing the Pokémon species (such as "a flock of Pidgey"), she's going to callously point out to you that "You wouldn't capitalize animal or mouse or dragon, so you shouldn't capitalize words like pokemon or pikachu or charizard. The only time you should capitalize it is if you're using it as the pokemon's name, ie, Ash's pikachu is called Pikachu. This is because you only capitalize when it's a proper noun, which are the names of places or things. Similar reasoning should be applied to any other words you're thinking of capitalizing, like telephone or trainer. Or professor."

(Actual quote, am pretty certain it's a copy-pasta.)

Like who the fuck cares, lady.

I didn't get to see it in real time, but it's honestly quite hilarious how serious she took herself with that, and how she ended up smearing her readers by the end of the story. That's how much of a bitch she is, I'm honestly shocked that TV Tropes has recommended the story under their "fan fic recommendation" because it was clearly meant to be a scathing "take that" to everyone, there's nothing clever about it.

SPPf in general has a bit of a history with reviewers and fan fic writers, to be honest. I can't relay everything since I wasn't always there to witness them, but I'll tell a quick one I'm a bit more familiar with. One of the most infamous reviewers they've ever had was a user by the name of Yami Ryu, who was worse than Farla. I don't think she ever wrote any fics, but she never sugarcoated her reviews, she outright would tell writers to stop writing or compared them to shit and other unpleasant things--she'd get banned sometimes because of this, then I think she got permabanned or something I dunno. Although interestingly enough, she had still made the attempt to give good criticism under that callousness, hence why writers who "survived" her onslaughts actually pushed themselves to get better, and they would give her the credit. Most of them went on to be some of the better-known writers on the board (weird as that sounds, but in a community like Serebii, you get to recognize names), pretty much succeeding her as reviewers.

Yami Ryu passed away from cancer some years back, which was a shock to everyone when they found out. She left behind quite an impression on the community, however, many veterans have left Serebii by now, so unless you were to go looking through their massive backlog of fics, you wouldn't know she existed.

I'm kinda in a hurry to go looking for better examples, but this was her if you really are curious as to the kinds of reviews she wrote:
