Guess refunding EDF 6 was worth it, damn shame honestly.

Not going to drop any spoilers about the plot but I read about it and it gives me massive Marathon Infinity vibes.

ngl I thought all this EGS shit died a dew years ago when people brew up a shit storm over Metro Exodus. I only assumed EGS is still relevant because people use as a glorified Fortnite launcher.

Never pre-order games. You will get fucked every time without fail.
I never had an issue with pre-ordering Japanese Switch games though, including the EDF games themselves on the Nintendo platform (the mainline ones up to 4.1 and World Brothers).

It's only been this single one PC game I was truly looking forward. It's proven to be once again a barebones port, but this time they screwed up the way the Epic API (which was essential for their PS4+PS5 crossplay in Japan) functions on PC.

Basically, the aliens are using time travel to introduce new weapons in order to better win the war against mankind, thus the EDF5 missions you get to play are altered. The huge battle in the vast plains was an EDF victory in the initial 5's timeline, but it transformed into a massacre due of the involvement of the Kululu aliens and the mobile fortress changing its course. The next mission level is a follow-up too, in which you have to assist the troops and vehicles desperately trying to retreat from the battlefield

My only reason for mentioning it already being released over a year ago is that it should've come with the port.
Why? It's a multiplayer game so the purpose of them is to extend both the commercial and online play tail of the game. There's no reason they shouldn't apply their release strategy for them on PC as well, and in terms of online play it can be better for the playerbase as well to stagger this kind of thing.

You're the kind of person who likes to watch other men fuck his girlfriend aren't you?
Stop simping for multimillion dollar companies and anti-consumer bullshit pls

Why should DLC that's already been out for over a year on a two year old game be included on a late port to a different platform and in an entirely new region?
Maybe because I thought the japanese and the kikes were two different races, guess not. Do the EDF fans often let themselves be fucked over like this? Sad if so.

You're both retarded. Why did they make the DLCs in the first place? Was it to give entitled players extra content, or for the health of the product?
Pacing out online content so you don't dilute the lobbies isn't kike behaviour. They have them, they could have released them for money at launch alongside all those stupid preorder DLCs, and they didn't.

Think about it for two seconds instead of applying overgeneralised hyperventilating /v/ logic to fucking everything.

The new fencer changes make them extremely comfy to use. The gatling spinup mechanics made the lower ranking flame revolvers actually useful.

Also spread type weapons got their range nerfed a bit and spread mortar also got nerfed a bit but in exchange almost every other weapon, including melee weapons and shields, was buffed to the moon. Very tasty changes.

Jannies just delete this post if it's against some bs rules

Is the pirated version playable with steam lobbies? I have played 4 and 5 both pirated and on Steam and I still don't know that. I pre-ordered 6 and thinking about refunding it because of the horseshit they tried and failed to pull.

Also when can the pirated one be expected to play online if not already?

I haven't tried it but apparently you can play online with others using the crack. And you can see legit lobbies, but not join them. So if you just want to play with friends it's probably fine if they get the pirate copy too but if you wanna pub you might have to keep trying random ones.
No ETA on joining legit lobbies; I doubt it'll happen and since they've announced they're taking out the epic component currently I doubt anyone is working on it.

Also ironically while I was checking cs.rin.ru for this I found a quote from the devs about the mission DLCs:
You mentioned localizing Earth Defense Force 6 when everything was ready—when all the downloadable content was already released in Japan. Does that mean the downloadable content is going to ship with the game here, or is it still going to be a separate release?

Okajima:
“How the two downloadable contents work in this game is like, once you cleared the game and are itching for more, that’s when we expect players to play the downloadable content. So will it be ready for launch? Probably. But we don’t want players to buy it at launch, because if you’re a brand-new player and immediately try to jump into the downloadable content, you’ll get destroyed, so we want to make sure you build up to the downloadable content. This isn’t set in stone, but just as an example, we might sell the first downloadable content a month after release, and then the next one another month after that.
So I, the guy that posted where to find the crack who you guys are calling a consoomer was completely right, and you, the dudes foaming at the mouth over not being given everything possible to consume at launch, are idiots.

we really need a murpy's law for videogame, like "the one time you preorder it will be really shit"

They are absolutely removing the mandatory EGS requirement, as evidenced by their Twitter account:

That's two for two now. And it's going to piss the usual shitters off because they capitulated to their customers, so we'll have some amazing salt to mine when it's actually fixed.
EOS, not EGS.
I expect them to just add EOS to the game directly, add the date of birth box into their ui (or skip it depending on the age rating anyway), and then autogenerate the login like other games do. no more login crap etc, might be hidden enough to work.

however if they completely remove it and go the extra mile I still got 50 bucks in my steam wallet...

Nah, fuck'em, they tried to sneak it in like a bunch of cunts, so there's no way I'm buying this game. They are only sad because they got caught.
think I said it in another thread, or might be a doublepost here, but I give them the benefit of doubt since they're some niche nip-devs.
not saying that absolves everything, but imo how they react and how willing they are is important to consider. imo there's really not much difference to ignore it and then make a big deal about it in the sequel or try to fix it now. either way it can be considered a "please come back " move.

you, the dudes foaming at the mouth over not being given everything possible to consume at launch, are idiots.
blame shitty AAA companies like microsoft and their mictrotransaction behavior. most people don't start out this way.

Big protip: force 60fps through your gpu driver or whatever to massively improve load times and performance.

I did this before playing for reasons and I've been wondering why people were complaining about that stuff because it runs noticeably better than 5 for me, but apparently both 5 and 6 have a bug where it's trying to lock itself to 60, failing, and causing weirdness.

You know, for all the story hypes them up the Kruul honestly aren't that bad. They're mostly annoying if you rely on sniping.

Yeah, they throw up a hurdle since they're so weird to fight initially, but after that they're barely a bigger problem than those things that look like humans. I think the hype is an intentional story/gameplay touch, since whatever the current dominant alien is on each time loop is the thing everyone shits their pants over--for example on the next loop you encounter some beautiful mermaids instead of kruul, who similarly throw up a unique challenge that forces you to adapt how you fight (unless you're a sniper, this time). Pretty effective gimmick.

They're probably my favourite enemy type so far; there's so many dynamic options for handling them. I love jetting into a group and slashing their gun arms off on the way past so none of them can get a shot in while you clean up.

Same. I love the new power blade so much. I just wish you weren't rooted during the swing animation, but I can deal.

For Steam Deck users, disabling the framerate limiter on the Performance tab (when you press the [...] button) seems to fix the random crashes I was occasionally having. Used to have like six crashes within ~20 hours of gameplay on the Deck, but since I have applied that method the game has been completely stable for 9 hours afterwards.

Wait until you face the Scylla(which are huge NPC killers) and the Kraken
Even for a seasoned EDF veteran like me, some levels proved to be quite the challenge in Hard difficulty. Currently reached mission 130 btw.

Giant frog appears
"OMG THEY LOOK JUST LIKE HUMANS"

Later on aliens in spacesuits appear
"OMG THESE ARE NOTHING LIKE HUMANS! TOTALLY ALIEN!"

Who wrote the dialog for this?
I always thought it was intentional considering EDF is mainly considered to be a cartoonish and goofy series. But after reading about how the Japanese version of EDF features more grounded and serious dialogue i'm honestly conflicted.
