By the way, for those of you who want to move your save from the pirated version to the legit steam version, here's how.

Step 1: Launch the legit version at least once, create a save in any slot you want (doesn't matter which since we're shitcanning it, this is just to get the folders you need created)
Step 2: Go to steamcommunity.com, click your name in the upper right corner, and click Account Details. In the upper left of your Account Details screen, your legit steamid is listed. Make a note of this.
Step 3: Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\EarthDefenceForce6\SAVE_DATA. There will be two folders there with long ass strings of numbers. One of these folders is named the same as your legit steam ID (assuming you properly made a save), the other is your pirate steam ID. Back up the entire folder with the pirate steam ID, just in case you fuck something up somehow.
Step 4: Open the pirate version. Load up your game, enter any mission (probably not mission 1 cause cutscene) then pause the game.
Step 5: Open Cheat Engine. Make sure that the hex button isn't checked, then set the search type to 8 bytes, then paste the pirate version's steam ID into the search box and mash the button. This should pop up a few results, ideally only 4 or so.
Step 6: Select them all (shift click, etc), then right click the list and pick Change Value. Put in your legit version's steam ID. Just change all of them at once.
Step 7: Quit out of the mission, then quit the game. If you crash when you quit the mission, you fucked something up, probably with Cheat Engine. Go back to Step 4 and try again.
Step 8: Go in the pirate version's save folder. There should be a folder in there named saveslotxx, where xx is whatever slot you saved your game in. Copy that entire folder, then paste it into the legit version's save folder, overwriting when needed.
Step 9: Open the steam version. You should be able to load your save from the pirated version with all progress carried over. Tada, you're all good. If you don't see it, you fucked up the save somehow and should restore your backup you created at Step 3 and proceed from there.

Generally speaking as long as you don't fuck up changing the IDs this should always work. It also works for moving your save between steam accounts if you need to do that for whatever reason. You can even let someone copy your save with this method, although they'll be stuck with whatever name you picked until someone figures out how to change that (cheat engine can mabye fix this)

Mission 117 is kino as fuck.
>save senpai who was killed at the start of the last game from that one ant
>accurately navigate the interior of the base so fast that Sarge can only go "WTF"
>defend Barga just in time, send it to the surface with senpai
>later, meet up with Barga at the perfect timing and use it to smash all of the pylons that fall that caused the base to be abandoned in EDF5

Just finished it. I thought I'd try out the Wing Diver's Raijin weapon for the first time on the final level and holy fuck when I killed the final boss in two shots but not really. but man I'm glad I didn't have to take the true boss out like I did the time ship on the previous stage by scaling every skyscraper one by one as they blew up and chipping it down 1k at a time since I didn't think I'd need a long ranged attack.
I don't think any game has ever fellated me so hard at the end.

Now I gotta decide whether to unlock the mission packs or wait until everyone else is playing em.

Edit:
BTW, for anyone playing the cracked version, add these lines under the [DLC] tag in tenoke.ini to unlock the DLC missions:
Code:
2378087 = "EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6 - Mission Pack 1: Lost Days"
2378088 = "EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6 - Mission Pack 2: Visions of Malice"
Otherwise you'll need an unlocker like CreamAPI if you wanna play em early.

I just best 116 and getting to destroy all the towers they dropped on the base this time around was kino as fuck

Try just spamming whatever missile launcher you have that has tons of lockons. Even very light missiles like Arm Hounds stagger small bugs nicely.

The actual teleport beacon fortress isn't that scary because they only spawn two bugs each at a time.

Well, they're dead now.
And I've been playing WD who has shitty power-hungry missiles that are incompatible with needing to fly away from stuff as the class with the least armour growth on a level with no cover, and aren't really worth using on regular levels anyway.

Yeah, you wouldn't expect that on a level that spams so much shit leading up to them though. I only figured it out on my final attempt.
Prior to that I had a couple runs where I got to that point and was trying to kill them efficiently by leapfrogging from one to the next and sitting on top to regen my juice before killing each, which was ideal conditions to get sniped by acid jizz from unexpected angles by one of the handful of ants that do spawn clinging to one of the other stakes.

It's just a particularly bad mission for Wing Divers I think. All the kaiju ones were pretty rough too.
(I like the unevenness though; you never know if a mission is going to be a cakewalk or absolute hell and that's usually fun)

I played the fuck out of Edf5 and was wondering if Edf6 is worth it for a edf enjoyer like me(dont really give a shit about the epic sign in)

Yeah, definitely. It's just as much fun (or better due to some of the changes depending on your favoured class), the biggest one in the series, and devs have said 5 was written with the story of 6 in mind so they're very interwoven. It's basically EDF5: Part 2.

I personally consider EDF6 to be the best game overall between the class improvements, the largest amount of missions and the highest enemy variety known to the franchise (the entire EDF5 gallery + Androids of various forms + new enemy machines + all the squid monsters + new Kaiju monsters + new actual variations of bugs).

Hard difficulty had its fair share of challenges on a first playthrough and Inferno is no joke. I can only assume the DLC mission packs are gonna be torture.

The sole strong negative point I can note are the collision physics of vehicles being somehow handled worse as they no longer can traverse difficult terrains correctly, and they remain upside down if knocked over (unlike in 5).

Really? At least the provided ones still self-correct, I've had both an AA gun and an EMC flip completely upside-down and then self-right. I dunno about player-spawned ones though.

Pro move is probably still to double-tap the board/exit button the moment they start leaning though

Beat the story all the way on hard, the final missions were the worst in the game lol. EDF 5 had agreat final boss, a giant snake thing that only gives limited opportunities to do damage between 1-2 minute breaks fucking sucked. Overall the game is great but what a wet fart to end on.

Finished the main game and now plodding through the DLCs which are hard as fuck. End boss was shit, the big Ring was pretty cool. The story though just wasn't as good as EDF 5 and didn't have as many memorable set-pieces.

I started paying EDF 6 since they removed the Epic chicanery. As someone who has been loving this series since 4.1 and have around 1k hours in 4,5 and iron rain, I'm around lv45 and GOD DAMN this game is fucking nuts. I'm looking forward to reading comments here after I finish it but where every other developer tries to expand reality in games these lovely motherfuckers at Sandlot have no fucking regard for the reality whatsoever.

I'm still not pre-ordering 7 tho, EDF 6 is the first and the last game I will ever pre-order.
