Ooooh, Dark Arisen is fantastic. The environments are gorgeous (if gorey) and the atmosphere was befitting of the story.I wish it would get ported to PC but yea, I have no faith in Capcom to pull this off. For the record I highly recommend Dark Arisen.
While it did annoy me that you had to pay full price even if you already had the original game, they did compensate for it. Eternal Ferrystone, anyone? That's useful as fuck. (And there's a chance I may have gone around killing monsters in Aelinore's dress.)
Hopefully for any future game that doesn't get overlooked. It was definitely a lack of foresight on the developers' part.As for affinity system and unfortunate implications, one case in note would be Symone, Fournivals daughter who romancing with any Arisen that doesn't look like a kid hero would make one wonder if pedophiles might like this.
That said, Dragon's Dogma has one of the best character creators out there, hands down. I mean, how many games even allow you to create a fat guy/gal? And both weight and height actually have an effect on the gameplay! After my first run, I made an Arisen based off of a character of mine for a story, and she's... short. (Probably the shortest I have.) Not small enough to get into a goblin hole (close) but small enough to have to be weighed down just to get through that windy valley area. Girl could take a hit, though.
