I wish it would get ported to PC but yea, I have no faith in Capcom to pull this off. For the record I highly recommend Dark Arisen.
Ooooh, Dark Arisen is fantastic. The environments are gorgeous (if gorey) and the atmosphere was befitting of the story.
While it did annoy me that you had to pay full price even if you already had the original game, they did compensate for it. Eternal Ferrystone, anyone? That's useful as fuck. (And there's a chance I may have gone around killing monsters in Aelinore's dress.)

As for affinity system and unfortunate implications, one case in note would be Symone, Fournivals daughter who romancing with any Arisen that doesn't look like a kid hero would make one wonder if pedophiles might like this.
Hopefully for any future game that doesn't get overlooked. It was definitely a lack of foresight on the developers' part.

That said, Dragon's Dogma has one of the best character creators out there, hands down. I mean, how many games even allow you to create a fat guy/gal? And both weight and height actually have an effect on the gameplay! After my first run, I made an Arisen based off of a character of mine for a story, and she's... short. (Probably the shortest I have.) Not small enough to get into a goblin hole (close) but small enough to have to be weighed down just to get through that windy valley area. Girl could take a hit, though.

Eternal ferrystone isn't the only thing, the game also throws in some DLC armor as something you can buy with in-game money (visit the guy who makes duplicates of items if you want to buy them). Bitterblack was fun even if Death was a bitch along with living armors and strigoi and don't get me started on Daimon's second form. Best thing about Bitterblack is that it can be a bit profitable for those that don't mind grinding a bit since equipment and materials can fetch one some good coin.

Never thought height and weight had an effect on gameplay but still, one has to like the character creation system with the wide variety offered. If Skyrim and Mass Effect was thought to have a good diversity of eye shapes, Dragons Dogma expands on that, especially if one literally wanted to try and create Guts from Berserk.

I loved the living armors, and death is best fought without pawns, by
sneak attacking him with tonnes of explosive arrows, as a assassin of course

Considering Death, have any strategies to share? I just wonder how, if using an assassin with explosive arrows work, how many arrows should one bring?

Assasin has passive skills that allow massive damage to unaware foes, so combine that with a few that boost strength from warrior and a ring that upgrades the final version of Mighty bend should do it, as for arrows, As much as you can carry, i dont think the holy arrow you can only buy one of works though, sinces he may be considered a holy creature. Pawns will constant put the reaper into alert mode, you just want him to be constantly searching for you, which counts as unaware, i believe.

First, use 4 Demon's Periapts just because Death is very resistant to magic. The best way I found to kill death was to use a magic archer, fire off ricochet hunter and then target him with as many of those seeker arrows as you can while he's stun locked, and blast the hell out of him with explosive bolt/volley. That was the quickest way I found though you still have to watch your ass as you target him for that 1HKO. You don't even need spectacular magic skills to do a lot of damage to him in a short amount of time.

Yeah, i think thats the strategy i was thinking of, the blast arrows may be for Daimon 2

Why one should love the character creation system

Also, Daimon has best theme:

I love Daimon's theme, both the English and the Japanese versions. What's interesting is that the two versions take slightly different tones, going by a rough translation of the Japanese version's lyrics. The Japanese version also sounds a little more powerful.
Here's the Japanese version:

I tried to clean up the rough translation myself, so here it is:
An overflowing warmth
From the old memories within my heart
Overcomes me from time to time

I wander this dark world
Through a cycle as endless as the sea

Unable to say goodbye
To the loved one I parted from

Come! Keep advancing!
Follow the path the dragon created!
The path that goes beyond time,
Connecting us to both the sky and future.

This scar I bear on my chest,
What are you trying to tell me?
Is this false fate we live for
Only a dream to wake from?

What are we fighting for?
Won't someone please tell me?
Illuminate us all
Coils of light

As well as a beautiful cover of the English version:

Considering lyrics, the English version goes as this in case one didn't get all of it:
All riven, kith and kin,
All given for this, a never-ending riddle,
My flesh worn, heart betorn,
Mind, by mem'ry, begyved...

As I wander, cold and immane?
Whither now my mother, my flame?
And along the coils of light,
The life I desired?

"Anon must we part?"
Words like a dart, red and dire,
Eyne that accoyed with their heat,

O! How I have seen the Dragon's Dogma!
Unbound by time, all-binding, grand design,
Land and skies and seas yearn,
Finish the cycle of eternal return,

When thou pulledst this boy from the sand,
Didst thou see him bearded, with brand?
And within the coils of light, when our blades took flight-
What future didst thou envision?

As I keep this frozen demesne,
Whither now my mother, my flame?
And along the coils of light,
The life I desired?
One thing to note with the Japanese version is mentioning seeing the Dragon's Dogma and how there is yearn to finish the cycle of eternal return.

Since the PC version comes, I honestly hope they do have the original main menu theme. As good as the actual theme is (sung by the same singer from Dragon Age), I would like to hear the English version of Into Free. I'd post it but the original is gone and all there is in English are stupid nightcore versions. Speaking of Dragon Age, one would ask if anyone tried to make an Arisen or Pawn looking similar to characters such as Alistair or Morrigan.

I've seen a pawn based on Brienne of Tarth, and one that looked based on Morrigan in the appearance department though she didn't bear the name.

I don't really understand the whole "Nightcore" thing. All of the "Nightcore" versions are just repitched and sped up a little.
This uses images from different games, and maybe the song's a little sped up, but here's the song for anyone who wants to hear it:

At first I was like "ew, this doesn't fit" but it grew on me. The one they replaced it with for Dark Arisen isn't bad, though; I think it's beautiful. But I kinda miss it.

It sounds like the original iirc. If one does want a video that stays closer to the fantasy feel, someone made the same thing but using Warcraft instead.

All that said, has there been any current news on Dragons Dogma Online?

(And since I left this out before, dangan means bullet or shot, if the translator I'm using isn't steering me wrong.)
I haven't heard anything as of late, though I've been more preoccupied with Fallout 4's release and playing Baldur's Gate. I'm really hoping it doesn't remain a Japan-only release (or solely a Playstation one, either).

I'm curious as to whether or not Dragon's Dogma will be included in the Xbox One's backwards compatibility. I'm fairly certain (read: hoping) that Skyrim will be, and DD is a good RPG in its own right so outside of it being not an immediate hit I don't see why it shouldn't be included. Honestly, I think more RPG games like Bethesda's or even Bioware's should have customization as extensive as DD's, the obvious downside being that would probably be hella expensive and a pain to implement.

Also I totally didn't make a pawn that was meant to resemble Marina.

One would like to know how said pawn looks or even how bad said pawn is within the field. I'm sure Ogres wouldn't mind.

I remember playing the demo and I usually navigated the menus so fast I never even got to the part with the electric guitar. I was taken by surprise the first time I heard it in the real game, and then it wasn't for like a couple more days before I even heard the vocals. I do think that it doesn't fit perfectly but it's upbeat which is a nice change. I think the current theme would be better if it played the whole song instead of the opening verse.

I also hope DD is backwards compatible so I can try and get my brother to play it again. I had him play the game and he made it all the way to the Post Dragon Everfall. He wanted to start a new character and not just a new class or a new face, because I told him he can change those and keep his progress. He wanted to start a new character because of the stats you get when you level up. I guess he was trying to maximize his character but he never played the game after that. It confused me and disappointed me how he didn't see just how far this game escalates at the end.

I apologize for the quality, but here she is:

She's not entirely accurate. Technically, Marina should be a Mystic Knight but that class is only available to the Arisen. Sorcerer isn't quite right, but I needed a good support pawn and I was playing as a Mystic Knight.

For once, Marina was actually useful. (And I also used her during the later playthrough with my OC, which helped immensely even though I think under normal circumstances they wouldn't even be all that friendly towards each other.)

The only thing about Marina that's truly accurate is that I made her act bratty. I did eventually have her clothes overdose on blue, but she had this on for the stats for a while.

I'm hoping, if it is made backwards compatible, it's both versions of the game. I'd kinda like to have all the new shit I got for having the original copy as well as the updated one. Well, I mean, if I put my save in the Cloud it should....
