I expected it to be bad. I expected it to be exceedingly generic. I did not expect it to look like a fucking Suicide Squad trailer. The Borderlands splash screens, the generic bar fight, the neon colors everywhere, the fucking quirky quips and strong independent brown females everywhere, holy shit. I think we have finally hit critical mass.

This is going to be worse than I could have possibly imagined. Can't wait.

Was coming to post this - this was yet another one of those "wait I follow this page on Zuccbook?" moments. The fact there's people actually excited for this baffles me - even ignoring how bad this is likely to look in a post BG3 world, the only reason I can think of that there's any excitement is that the last DA game was released 10 years ago(!) and people look back on it with some serious nostalgia. Just ignoring that Inquisition was, in hindsight, incredibly mid at the most generous, and that Biowares output since has been the drizzling shits.

Honestly I'm just taking this as confirmation they've built this on Frostbite like they did with Andromeda and Anthem. Y'know, because that worked out so fucking well for them.

I'm half convinced that keeping the lights on at Bioware is someone laundering money. The DEI cheques they get for keeping these fucks open can't be worth the garbage output, and EA has shuttered studios for significantly less, and I doubt The Old Republic was pulling in the kind of numbers needed to justify keeping the studio open - and per some quick Google Fu apparently a different studio took over development on that game last year, so now I'm even more confused...
The Old Republic got put to another studio from Bioware, and many devs fled the sinking ship to follow it.

It looks like EA is getting ready for its usual old yeller treatment after this slop bombs and flops, and it took a small but steady maintenance mode MMO away because that's all they could salvage.

And nevertheless I am SHOCKED how bad that trailer is. Sympathetic to how freaked out the fans must be. Look, Bioware has been dead since Mass Effect 3 but even this is a new low.
I think Bioware has been dead since ME2 when they started to casualize everything, from the exploration and progression to the customization.

Man, what a shit show of a trailer. Hopefully, whoever green-lit that mess won't be involved with Mass Effect.

...

Mass Effect is gonna be a disaster, isn't it?

Why do all these shitty DEI slop games have a massive obsession with purple neon lighting?

Off the top of my head

Dragon Age Veilguard
Saint's Row reboot
Forspoken

There are probably others I'm forgetting.

Bold of you to assume Mass Effect is gonna happen at all once this bag of shit hits the doorstep.

I have no fucking clue how Bioware is even still around. EA has shitcanned other devs for way, waaay less.
I’ll meep saying it - I actually think someone at EA is using Bioware to launder money. There’s no way the DEI cheques they get from allowing these retards to stay open justifies the expenses, especially when its looking like they’re on a third bomb in a row.
Do they have any other studio that does RPGs? It could be they really want a piece of that market but don't have anyone suited to it.
With how upfront EA was a few years ago about how Single Player is Dead, Bioware has been an odd fit for them for years.

It’s entirely possible EA has kept them running solely because they’ve run out of studios with any name recognition - no seriously, outside of Bioware, the only EA studios I can think of are DICE and whoever updates Madden every year, I don’t even know who does the latter…

You underestimate pozzed sugardaddy Fink and Soros's infinite money printer.

Behavior will be enforced, butts will be pozzloaded, bulls will be prepped, diversity will be mandated. Now now now NOW!

It's not quite the third in a row -- ME Legendary Edition was, from all indications, a big hit. It's just easy to overlook because it was recycled material. The question is whether it was a big enough hit to earn BioWare a reprieve if DA4 flops. Has a reliable source said that DA4 is make-or-break for the studio? I know we all think it is, and given how much of the staff had left over the years it sure feels that way, but only time will tell.

Should be a fun autumn.

I feel like the real make or break for BioWare will be the next Mass effect game. ME has always had a larger fanbase than dragon age and more general appeal. It needs to be at least as good as ME1, without undue controversy or fumbling the ending.

If DA4 bombs they can say it was a long development cycle and the inherent problems with that. ME4 on the other hand is BioWare’s butter and bread.
