I wish there was a third option in the poll. Because I could possibly play a Diablo phone game - the idea of porting 1 or 2 actually sounds pretty neat. But I would in no way play this Diablo phone game.

Bethesda has just gotten some serious competition in the "Who can piss off their fanbase more" contest.
Seriously, what the fuck is Blizzard thinking? Did they just put Activision in control of all their business decisions or some shit? Then they attempted damage control only to make things much, much worse.

God am I glad I ditched this company after they released WoW.

At least Bethesda had the brains to cushion their Elder Scrolls mobile game announcement with the announcement of an actual new Elder Scrolls game. As people have noted with the Fallout Shelter stuff, there's a big difference to having this stuff in addition to the main series as opposed to instead of the main series.

I swear to god if GamerGate found a legit cure for cancer these guys would be writing articles about why kids dying of leukemia is a good thing.

Isn't that basically what happened with Ralph?

You specified MMO's but is there actually any good mobile games at all?

I like Puzzle & Dragons. It's pretty generous to free players. They just gave out like 100 free magic stones for their 6th anniversary event. Stamina is always an annoying feature. But it's par for the course in most mobile games and not that bad at high ranks.

I'm not really into mobile games. Sometimes I play those Shanghai freebies because I loved the Game Boy game. It's a good time waster.

Main problem with mobile is that there are so many damn games that are pay 2 win. They make it too damn frustrating or damn near impossible to get anywhere without paying for stuff. I'd rather but a full game. But that's not how these companies make money.

I don’t really understand the outrage, but Blizzard should have handled this differently. This game is being made by Chinese slave labor for Asians and children. I don’t think anyone in the main blizzard offices are doing any sort of work on it except the marketing and PR people.

They shouldn’t have attempted to hype this as much as they did. Just a presentation and different wording.

Blizzard have a tendancy to simply do what has done before but with far more polish and superior execution. No origional idea's just a better in application of what has gone before.

Must be nice to EA that someone has cribbed their idea for a change.

I agree. They have people attention at wc3 reforged and should've stopped there. People wouldn't care if they didn't hype it as the next big thing in the diablo series which they've been working on for a long time.

At least blizzard haven't call their customer base uneducated. Yet.

Said mobile games are also free with optional microtranactions. They are designed to let you have fun for 20 minutes and remind you their game is coming. They are great advertising platforms for future titles and are usually shilled hard by Pete Hines.

This shit though... Wow.

It was only a matter of time...

I love the phrase "do you guys not have phones?" and hope it sticks around for a long time.
It's on par with "Please Clap" Jeb.
They are completely mystified by the audience's reaction...

Say what you want, Bob's views have a certain point to them, here's another perspective:

There's dozens of game studios large and small and they all compete for *my* money.
If Blizzard wants *my* money too, they jolly well release a product that I *want* to buy. Full stop.

I have paid for their products in the past. I want to pay for their products in the future. However, I do not have to buy their products and there's hundreds of games to play instead, so if there is no Diablo game that doesn't suck ass in the future, I'll just play whatever else game there is.

I am *not* dependent on Blizzard or their games. I am *not* begging Blizzard to be allowed to pay for their product, they beg *me* to buy their product - their Marketing is nothing else.
If they delude their own IP by shitting out a soulless, joyless cashgrab on a shitty platform and hype it beforehand, that tells me that my money will forever be better spent somewhere else, if this is how much they respect their oldest IP and their most loyal fans.

But of course, the media will again go down with the age old and trusted strategy of shittalking those that refuse to eat up this bullshit.
Cause it worked so well for Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Marvel Comics . . .

What kind of complete cuck prefaces dumb shit they're going to say by unironically calling it a "hot take?"
