but at the very least it was dumb mindless fun you can lose a few hours in where you actually felt like you became a God by the end-game because of how over the top powerful you've become.
I hear it stops scaling at 90, so once you go from 90 to 100 you get that feeling, but at the same time even all the Blizzard content simps have pointed out it feels like you're getting weaker as you level up because of the scaling which is stupid. I'm really tired of level scaling in games as it rarely makes the game more enjoyable, it just pads the content, or worse, like in WoW it makes the story feel disjointed because you can start leveling in any zone. That shit doesn't work if you want world building in a multiplayer game.

>Lilith gets the Sylvanas/Kerrigan Treatment, ShEs sEcReTlY gOoD yOu GuYz despite being pure evil in pervious games and comics
I fucking hate this, why can't an evil woman just be a cunt for once? Actually, why can't any villain as even the Jailer was just trying to end existence so a bigger badder evil didn't do it first.

>this game that's going to get multiple massive DLC updates over the next decade didn't tell me the entire story during the first act
>this is bad writing
It is bad writing.

Compare it to Diablo 2, which ended on a cliff hanger and you can see by the end of D2 you knew what happened to the old heroes, you knew what happened to Tristram, how Diablo got out, and what the resolution was to his story. The only loose end was Baal, who you also knew was out there and gaining ground from the end cinematic. Then Lord of Destruction felt distinct in its own way and started a whole new story that used Baal as a driver, there wasn't this idea of "Oh, Diablo's plan all along was to stall for time so Baal could do his super secret special thing and everything you did in D2 was just fucking about".

A good story should leave you fulfilled by the end of it, so you feel like you've got what you needed out of it, and what's to follow isn't the missing piece to that story in a way that it feels incomplete without it, but an advancement of it.

>Diablo Story
>Good
>Inarius talks like a bitch, gets clapped like a bitch

>There's no mention of Tyrael and Zakarum faith whatsoever
>They don't even explain what the fuck happened to the world between 3 and 4.
The story is serviceable by Blizzard Standards, but then again Blizzard writers have always been shit storytellers. The same fuckwards that came up with WoW Shadowlands because Danuser wanted the Narrative to bend over backwards for his shitty Mai Waifu.
>>There's no mention of Zakarum faith whatsoever
Did we play the same game? There are Zakarum churches all over sanctuary and especially northern kehjistan. Most of it was just anti-christianity bullshit and Jerusalem crusade LARPing.

>>They don't even explain what the fuck happened to the world between 3 and 4.
They vaguely explain it with some faggot BS along the lines of "after D3, people got bored immediately and left the Horadrim discord server lol". 50 years pass. At the start of the game. Neyrelle demonstrates this autism in the ending.

When is diablo himself going to show up?

I have to wonder if the people complaining about feeling weak have bothered updating their gear at all. From the end of World Tier 2 onwards, I'm routinely blowing through groups of mobs ten levels above me.
Most of the time they have not but the level scaling and screen freezes nullify that advantage.

Lilith being sort of good kind of makes sense since she wanted to leave the Eternal Conflict and her kids being killed. The writing is still bad not as bad as 3 but still bad.

Just finished the story, it was kinda of a slog, just cause it was ok and I'm much more interested in the post game.

I agree in liking Lilith in the story. I felt like she wasn't good, she was just doing a good deal with the devil pitch. Yeah she could take out Mephisto, and made an honest case about how that'd be a beneficial change for humanity. However I don't see that as a good outcome, just a different flavor of bad for the residents of Sanctuary, where the one of the factions of hell is using them as their forces to fight.

Obviously this game is going to have a years long development cycle where Baal, Mephisto, Diablo, The Cow Royalty, the Angels, and some dumb shit when they get to the bottom of the barrel will have add on Story Acts and post game content. That's fine, especially if the microtansactions make enough money I don't have to pay for these mini Expansions, and those microtransacrions stay cosmetic.

I started over with a Sorc to grind up to post game. The fact that the game is based around running events outside of the story is the most interesting aspect of D4 to me. The idea that I don't have to run through all the gatekeeping parts of each act 3x for every character, that the map is much larger than the story, and that there is an excess of side quests to diversify what I play through each time is great. I've not played an ARPG that has done that before, everyone had the chore of rushing through the storyline for ever character to get to the post game content that's everyone focus. (I think I heard someone mention D3 added that, but it was after I last played if so).

Very early on, but leveling seems pleasantly quick, the renown bonuses give you a nice power boost to make the early build much more developed. The only issue I have is that renown is essentially only half shared between characters. I still have the bonuses, but if I start renown with one character, I can't finish it with the next. All the way points don't share, I have to run every dungeon and stronghold with one character to max out the Realm wide bonuses.

Unless I got something wrong, I played for like 15 minutes very late after beating the story.

Like all Blizzard games, you were expected to have read a trilogy of 20 year old paperbacks that you will now struggle to find in print in the last remaining six brick-and-mortar bookstores to even begin to grasp the story, since they can't be bothered to sum it up in lore snippets via clickable books in libraries in the game. That would have been the bare minimum and they didn't even do that.

The only background lore you would have gotten on Inarius and Lillith in game format would have been the Pandemonium Fortress lore drops in Act 5 Reaper of Souls in Diablo 3, which were halfway decent despite being terse.

Lillith IS a cunt, full stop. She tries to pull sympathy cards and women are falling for it online, but she wants daddy's throne, and her children are literally meant to be an army she commands. Any "free will' tugging at your heartstrings is 100% to be ignored. It's a succubus move and you hopefully succeeded your saving throw.

Wait, they got rid of books on pedestals? Those were the best part though in D1 and D2.
That's the worst part, they didn't get rid of them. There are small clickable things around the world that have descriptors pop up in stylized text boxes, but none of them are worthwhile lore. It's shit like "there's a rusted pile of swords here, waiting for the blacksmith to reforge into good shit for the guards." Something that would have been filled out given a non-rushed dev cycle, who knows if they'll bother adding them later.

Side quests somewhat whet that appetite, because the voice acting/writing/what you do for these residents of Sanctuary are actually interesting and meaningful, and as a whole paint a very bleak picture of what life is like after Malthael melted half the world's population. So the lore is decidedly human- and present-focused, rather than telling past stories of Tal Rasha or Raekor.

For all of my complaints thats one part i've really enjoyed. For the first time since Diablo 1 it feels like the writers did a good job of presenting us with regular people trying to cope with their life in a fantastical world. But I do agree, I wish they had put lore book of some sort in here for the fellas that like that sorta thing

I could never finish a D3 playthrough because I just could not handle my necromancer running around looking goofy in bright blue and clown red. Terrible design choice. If D4 doesn't have that then that's a win for me. Not that I would buy it at full price because the idea of buying a """"live service"""" from Blizzard of all people sounds repulsive to me. The only people more embarrassing than Blizzard fans who buy unfinished games at full price are pokemon fans and only by a slight margin.

Anyway if anyone knows of any DR2 related servers I would be highly appreciative <3

To be fair when Sylvanas turned against Zovaal it was still out of complete Cunt reasons*. She is still a giant fucking Karen..she just won't go from Zero go Genocidal from being told "No" now

Maybe.

*Zovaal said words that TRIGGERED her.

They were trying to redeem her, but even that was stupid as they tried to play it up that she realized he was going to subjugate people, right after she spent all that time subjugating Anduin in the same way she was by the Lich King. Shit was retarded.

They've tried to make Lilith "nuanced", but it's being a reflexive retard if you think they've made her a force for good. The story makes it clear her interests align with humanity's purely due to a shared interest in defeating hell; outside of that specific foe she's just as domineering and power hungry as her Father.

She conceived the Nephalem as a weapon, and wanted to end the Eternal Conflict with herself in control. it wasn't an act of selfless heroism.

Its understandable she didn't want to raze sanctuary to the ground unlike what the main cast were lying about the whole time. However she did try to imprison the player in a mind prison for all eternity and the lilith cultist presence is no joke.

They easily outnumber the zakarum and its a wonder there are any humans left in sanctuary with how willing they are to slaughter entire villages and then THEMSELVES. All just to summon some glorified balrog during a helltide that im going to spawncamp with a poison trap and kill in 5 seconds or less.

Just wish they didnt recolor the enemies for every area and claim they were "new". Its some JRPG level laziness. The bandits across the different areas are an example of this. Same with carvers and fallen. carvers are just blue/grey recolored fallen red/black.

Did anyone else notice the huge uptake in "disciples of lilith" appearing all over the map lately? Most of the time they are hovering mid air out of bounds. But now I've noticed them on my way out of town in most areas. You cant attack them but they do show up as enemies.

i dont think these two are true
have you beat the game?
but im only about to start act 4, doing a few dungeons first
im CERTAIN both tyrael and the zakarum have come up. i think the zakarum have only comebup once so far, but theres been a few mentions of tyrael.

and while i could end up being wrong
i dont think shes a good guy
she wants to be mephisto dude
she is just pretending like shes preparing sanctuary to fight for itself
but what she actually wants is to rule in hell

its not great writing but its a step up from d3

I'm just finding it boring honestly. I finished the story, I'm playing on T3. The dungeons are just copy/pasted. You can't replay bosses to farm loot. I'm level 55 and I just can't fathom grinding in these boring ass dungeons until level 100.
