Even with that there will still be some amount of confusion because they stuffed a lot of story into seasonal content. I'm not sure how they're going to handle that. Even as a returning player I was beyond confused as to what was going on in the narrative even with the little seasonal synopsis because so much was happening between expansions. I doubt they'll be putting back in all the seasonal content because there's so much of it, but I hope they do something to make it a little more clear as to what was going on between the expansions after Shadowkeep.
I think you can very easily have a decent premise for the majority of the story via the campaigns alone, alot of the seasons were nothing burgers and all the juicy bits were in the books

I wonder what they can do after firing half a billion people already. Anyway here's my prediction:

- Awesome trailer out of nowhere, cool action everywhere, no gay shit anywhere. We're shown old guns, new guns, vaulted destinations, revamped current destinations, buildcrafting shit all over the place
- We see the title slowly fading in with a perfect musical sting by Marty (damn right they brought him back)
- DESTINY: REUNITED
- Motherfuckers fused all content from D1 and D2 into one giant thing. Effectively D1 remastered and brought into D2's buildcrafting system (optional), while bringing back all the vaulted stuff for D2
- PvP and Gambit get 400 improvements, state of the art anti-cheat, xim/zen bans, cool systems
- Free to play for anyone who ever bought D1, D2 or any expansion
- Release date: FUCKING DECEMBER 2026
- 2-hour dev hype session with all the cool details. No women or troons in sight, one guy wears a shirt with an edgy republican meme on it
- It's happening

Then when you finally play it:

- Servers fucked, can't get in
- Get in at 4:34 am
- EULA makes you watch a video about bullying where a tranny recounts his video game voice chat trauma. Can't skip. You have to agree to not hurt any feelings and to vote blue in 2028.
- Go play Curse of Osiris just because
- The opening cinematic is longer. It starts with Osiris masturbating to a makeshift Saint-14 - head he made out of robot scraps, in a cave
- In the story, Sagira has a cuntier voice and an added line about fragile masculinity
- Ghost (who is now again voiced by Peter Dinklage) addresses Sagira with the pronoun "they"
- Finally get to an actual mission where the shooting is
- Everything has more purple and pink in it
- Enemies are bugged, warping and rubberbanding all over the place
- Manage to hit one with Telesto bolts
- Now everything is even more pink, can't see anything
- Abort, return to Tower
- Ikora's icon is blinking
- She's got nothing to say, another bug. You notice Ikora's face is now Debra Wilson
- One player in the tower with the name "thanks obambo" gets banned for hate speech by the tower security chat bot doing its checkups
- Other players cheer at the decision and spam tranny palestine flags
- Want to kill self, but check vault instead
- Everything is replaced by a pink Telesto
- Want to kill self again, but load into a relaxing patrol mission instead
- Recommended Power: S34899 green
- Current Power: E11 pink, assuming not enough but try it anyway
- Get oneshotted by a thrall
- Kill self
- Die just after seeing a popup of Bungie Foundation begging money for trannies

I've got a funnier one; There's all these morons right now buying silver.

Imagine this; The classic pajeet rugpull.

Month 1; "We're so sorry guys; Give us money"

Month 2. "After further consideration, we've decided it's too much work to port the vaulted content back into the game. So sorry."

The best part is that I think they'd get away with it too. They aren't trying to resell old content back to you. Instead, they sold people a fuck-ton of silver cosmetics. All together, it wouldn't mean much, or rake in the sort of money even a single Destiny expansion would make, but in turn all a play like this would cost is the money paying for the time of the PR intern who wrote this. Bungie can go right back to being retarded and dying.

Even cooler; This might be an attempt at bungie to manifest their survival into existence, and right now Sony is trying to figure out a PR way to tell people that Bungie was lying, and no, the Red War isn't being reprised.

While this would actually be the proper ideal full way forward for the franchise as a whole, bungie is too incompetent to actually do it even if they wanted to.

After seeing people reaction to Bungie saying they are sorry and there will be changes and they have listened to the players. We see a lot of people that immediately go under the drone mindset of "WERE SO BACK". Go to Bungies web site and click on the link for "Benefits" and all the BS is still there. Bungie are not gonna change their corrupt internal company culture any time soon. The whole company is filled with these mentally deranged DEI people.

I get this is a shitpost, but in a perfect world, this would be the best thing to do.

The whole reason the DCV became a thing in the first place was because D2 was never meant to last more than a couple of years. The original contract with Activision stipulated a new game every two years, supplemented by one major expansion (TTK-level) in the off years and two minor expansions (TDB/HoW-level) every year. Obviously we all know how that played out in practice, but the end result is that when a game is only meant to be built upon for a couple years, you don't really bother with being too efficient. By the time any issues built up with development, the next game would be out.

But when the decision was made to extend D2 indefinitely instead of releasing D3, they started running into the problems that those shortcuts caused. I'm not blaming them for making those choices at the time of development; they couldn't have foreseen that the game would be running not just for two or three years, but now close to a decade. Still, that left them with a foundation that wasn't designed to be built upon so heavily, and as a consequence, they needed to rebuild that foundation with a major engine update, which then required them to rebuild all the old content to work on it. But the playerbase wouldn't be all that happy about too many delays, so they chose to cut out large swaths of the game that were less frequently played to get the next expansion out the door faster.

Was it a dumb move that killed a lot of trust in Bungie? 100%. But I can't blame them for making it at the time. As much as we talk about how we've needed a true D3 for years, it's easy to forget how upset people were that they had to leave everything behind in D1. Even as some things gradually got reintroduced, there's still a lot of things people miss from the first game. And now with D2 having been around three times as long as D1 was, that's a lot more content that players would be asked to give up.

So, if I could have my pie-in-the-sky version of Destiny, it would be for Bungie to do another complete foundational overhaul of Destiny's systems in lieu of new content for a while. Do whatever engineering voodoo is required to make development easier and allow the game to scale up without needing to axe chunks of the game every so often. On that new base, bring together everything from D1 and D2, reintroducing every campaign, destination, and activity to a single install (Wrath of the Machine, my beloved). And drop last-gen console support while we're at it, that's long overdue. Once that's done, only then start adding in new content and pick up the story where we left off.

I'm under no illusion that that would happen, no way in hell would anyone give them the funds for all that effort and get basically no return on that investment for years, but a man can dream.

I'll be happy seeing my beloved Strange Terrain return and Mars proper. Oh and menagerie too. But I'll wait and see if they actually make good on their words as talk is pretty much worthless from these fuckers.

Per Paul Tassi, an article and tweets with some more info, even if there's a lot of "don't know yet" in there:
  • Confirmed once more that the unvaulted content will be free for everyone, no need to purchase or repurchase it. This includes four campaigns, five destinations, and five raids.
  • No confirmation yet whether all the vaulted strikes are coming back, but it's probably a safe bet they will be. This is especially true for Curse of Osiris and Warmind strikes, since those are reprisals of missions from their respective campaigns.
  • Also no confirmation on unvaulting the remaining Crucible and Gambit maps. It wouldn't seem to be a huge ask, but we'll have to wait and see.
  • Seasonal stories aren't likely to be unvaulted due to how many of them there are and the resources needed to handle what they're already doing. Not outside the realm of possibility, but nothing being said about it yet either.
  • Also no word on Escalation Protocol making a return, though I'd be surprised not to see it. Considering the IKELOS weapons are already craftable and have a source in Seraph's Shield, I dunno what they'd do for rewards. Maybe just have it as an alternate source for the weapons?
  • It's probably a safe bet to assume all returning gear will be reprised to fit into the tier system, though no confirmation yet.
  • Paul believes that the plan is to return this content to D2 to leave it in the best possible state before moving on to future projects. It doesn't look like the current sandbox is likely to be fucked with, at least for the foreseeable future, so whatever crazy builds you like to use should be safe.
  • Shattered Cycle isn't being worked on at the moment. It's possible the work that went into it will be folded in to whatever comes next, but that's far off into the future and not worth speculating on now.
DMG also put out a couple tweets saying that they won't be publishing a roadmap for the time being given the debacle of promising one too early last time, and that we're not likely to see a return of the TWAB, opting to publish info when it's ready instead of being tied to a weekly schedule.

They're betting the entire company that the Silver whales will come back
kind of? they got rid of their whales once they stopped making cosmetic armors and shieet by maintenance moding destiny, the silver whales they expect to come back already have what they will try to sell, so they better start cracking whips on the backs of artistes to make new armor sets for these collector whales or they can kiss that idea goodbye, MMO's need updates to have a healthy life.

God please, i would like a break from seraph shield to get those red borders

I'd move it back to their original drop source and return Sleeper Simulant's catalyst completion to the original requirements too. Oh and make the Sleeper Simulant catalyst drop from prestige Spire of the Stars again. They could just beef up the Seraph Shield red border drops with new weapons that are related in some way, better yet have the Seventh Seraph weapons drop from it.

Part of me hopes we'll see everything return to their original sources and requirements. However this is current Bungie and as much as i want to believe they will do all of that, they'll find some sort of retarded compromise for it all.

I hope that the returning campaigns will have the same implementation like the new ones and will be fully replayable. While not all of it was great content, it sucked that a lot of it wasn't replayable on a character.
