Try again(if you have a savegame made). After a few times, you will figure it out and determine if you want to keep grinding and get a B ending or aim for A/S ending but skip the clown entirely. The rewards are the best weapon in a game and a shortcut that can end up saving you a ton of time(borderline only way to save some survivors), but it's not needed to finish the game.
Adam is the toughest psycho in the game btw, he can easily take your entire healthbar if you let him. That's only true for new players, experienced players know how to cheese him easily since there is a few ways to exploit his bad pathfinding or leave him stuck on the ground nearly permanently.
I had more issues with Cliff and Cletus tbh. I cheesed Adam with mannequin torsos on the very first try.

Cliff is pretty easy if you don't let him get close to you, Cletus is actually pretty hard but I never really fight him enough to remember since I can just finish the game without shotguns and sniper rifles consistently. Best strategy is to kill the convicts and bring your own machinegun, otherwise you will need to take him out with submachine guns. I do remember it being a pain in the ass to take him down with melee since he would just kick your ass out to the other side of the counter if you tried.

Adam is still more difficult for newer players since he will be the first non-mandatory fight they will experience, and his basic attack can kill them in one hit by that point. This is a real kick in the balls for them and a wake up call for what to expect, where as you will be leveled up by the time Cliff shows up and Cletus is a fully optional fight where he doesn't actively attack you unless you come to him.

i would actually suggest the opposite. cliff isn't hard because he deals big damage or whatever, cliff is hard because he's literally in the biggest time crunch of the game. it is very difficult to save Cliff's survivors and some other people on your first run-through. i would suggest keeping Cliff close to you so you can kill him fast, if you keep your distance he just runs around and wastes your time, which is far more dangerous than him hitting you.

Best way to cheese the game is to immediately head to the underground tunnels as soon as you can, then keep running over zombies to get the “zombie genocider” achievement. Once you’ve got that and you’ve let an ending play out (I can’t remember if it counts just dying after getting the achievement but before getting an ending), you get the real Mega Buster in the safe room. That thing takes out most psychos in 1 to 3 shots, easy!

Adam can be killed with a sniper rifle or shotgun and simply baiting out his knife throw or balloon. If that's too much he can't block kicked weapons so if you lure him down to the children's play area and kick the cubes at him over and over you can knock him down and kill him with bug bites.

Cletus can be killed by simply standing outside the boss doors and using the entryway as cover, then taking potshots at him with an SMG or pistol.

Those two are the bosses most new people struggle with the most but these two techniques will take them down easily.

Stipo uploaded some footage from the demake on his second channel, so that's a confirmation that Capcom has gotten in contact with him and that he's now one of their shills.
Too bad about that reputation he used to have, lmfao(altho from the /v/ posts I saw, almost nobody knew who he was even during his mental breakdown anyways)

Is Cletus the drunk in the gun shop? That’s where I think I fucked up. I was exploring that part of the mall and tried to save the fat guy with a broken leg after killing him, which timed out the first part of the 2nd scoop.

Dead Rising is full of beginner traps. Get used to it, on your first go the game will have a good time kicking your ass, and you will come back for more the second time around. Don't be afraid to run to make your deadlines, aside from the main quest there is nothing you really need to do, it's all optional stuff and it's better done on the next playthru when you're leveled up and more prepared.
Cletus gives you access to the gun store, which lets you get two shotguns and two sniper rifles(they don't respawn until you drop them or use them up). This is entirely optional as I rarely ever kill him and do just fine, do be aware that he does go away on day three so you can get his guns anyways. In fact, there is a hidden scoop there with three survivors to rescue, just be sure to photograph(and lock in the photos menu) the vent in advance
BTW, just like someone else above said, there is hidden Submachine guns all over the mall, one in each area, these should be doing bulk of your ranged damage. There is one on top of the rooftops in Paradise Plaza, you jump up from the stairway to the roof above the kids clothing store, another one is in the underground tunnels where the key to locked doors all over the mall is, there is one in the Food Court on the top of the sign within the Italian Restaurant(one with the plates, right next to the cartoon chef) and one in the fountain in Al Fresca Plaza. There is more, but they're too hard to get so I never bother. Just like shotguns/sniper rifles they don't respawn until they're used up so you can't farm them.

If you give them to survivors and get them to the safe room, does that count as using them up? I imagine having several rednecks with uzis is helpful when you’re dragging cripples across the courtyard.

Yes, if you give the items to the survivors, that technically counts as them "disappearing" for the game. Make sure to equip the survivors with Shotguns/SMGs if you have them and collect them again, then take them away before the survivors go into the security room in order to double your guns(just remember they won't respawn until they're gone from your inventory again)

kingdom come deliverance 2 doesn't come out until 2025, so I guess this game is now my most anticipated release of the year by process of elimination.

oh boy.

Damn the bombs part is frustrating. Pure trial and error.

It's pretty easy once you get the underground key and learn which paths to take from the mall. Hint: You want to be in and out as quickly as you can, since Carlito runs around with a truck(you can kill him and take care of the rest of the bombs in peace, but that wastes precious time and resources). Disarm the bomb then go back up to mall level and repeat until all bombs are taken care of

the only positive thing i can say about the remake is that it'll probably get a massive modding scene since it's on the RE engine. the modding scene for the original games is horrendously dead, unfortunately. might be the only reason i pirate this trash.

There's also a remaster of The Thing coming out this year, if you never played it it's a sequel to the 1982 movie of the same name, pretty decent shooter for the time with jank controls and cool ideas that were never fully fleshed out, supposedly this remaster is gonna fix those problems though!

It's been a year and RE4 Remake is still inferior to the original. I wouldn't hold your breath, especially as a large bulk of people who will mod the game will have no experience with or love of Dead Rising, it will just be "another capcom zombie game" to them.

Ngl, I hope we get the sequel to it that was in the works, it legit seemed to be a big improvement over the original.

The Thing has such a massive potential for gaming and its pretty untapped.

"But how about Among u-" You shut the fuck up.

Also lets not kid ourselves, a large number of these mods are just visuals and most of them are shamelessly porn. And yeah, sure, it will be noice to see sexuality brought back but it really isnt what Dead Rising was ever about, ya know? Idk if we will get a mod that brings back Erotica or anything major like that.

saw a tweet earlier, i don't have it on hand, b ut apparently it's from a dev interview and Capcom fully intends to return to the Dead Rising franchise, be that DRDR2 or DR5 is up to interpretation, but, if what I saw was real, this ain't the last of it.

Idk if we will get a mod that brings back Erotica or anything major like that.

I am very familiar with modding RE Engine games and I just want to point out for anyone who is making the argument "we'll just get cosmetics and nothing else" Re Engine can do a shit ton. now, granted, MB we will only get cosmetics. but I just want to make it clear that both DMC5 and DD2 got a Skill Maker, which just...lets you make new skills. with defined inputs. like, entirely.

there is a wealth of possibility for mods for DRDR, whether we get them or not, who can say, but it should be possible.

I want to be hyped. I like the thing game. But like fuck man I don't think a remaster is going to fix all the issues with the systems. With the biggest issue i have being.

Scripted thing transformations.

Some important NPCs can't transform into the thing until they no longer useful, but the thing is the second they are no longer useful when you cross some scripted line in a map.

Boom Insta thing-ed. You could quite literally thing test them 10 times over right before crossing the line for any of the said NPCs that it happens to, and always come up negative. Then the milisecond you cross the invisible line boom suddenly they transform faster then the fucking Palmer thing in the movie. And it always annoyed me to no bounds.

The thing is(heh) you can't even fix it, because it's part of the design of the game at it's core.

I don't know why people always complain about this. This occurs once at the end of a level because you're not supposed to have a party for the next one. Its not an "issue" its intentional design and once you know it you cant act surprised, to change that would break the progression of the next level. Theres also a checkpoint right before this happens so you can retry if you waste health or ammo and you can kill em before they morph.
