So is the game good or is it not? To me, when I saw the trailers and people glazing the thing like it was the next coming of Hot New Thing like Baldur's Gate 3 or Clair Obscur Expedition 33, I wasn't really sold on the game. It looked like a weird frankenstein monster of whatever is popular in gaming trends right now; open world ubisoft style objectives, soulslike combat, breath of the wild mechanics, rpg mechanics, witcher style narrative, etc.
About the only thing accurate about any of this is Breath of the Wild mechanics. (there's abilities to pick up shit like in BotW, you can cut trees down adn use them as weapons, shit like that if you want)

The game is good to the people who like it, and the worst thing ever to the people who don't. I really don't know how else to explain it.

It's kind of like how I think Minecraft is boring as fuck, but people that like Minecraft *really* fucking like Minecraft.

So if you look at it and aren't interested, chances are you're going to hate it.

So how exactly do you find cats consistently to tame?

All of the dogs seem to be in the same spots every day, but I can't seem to find any cats after I raise their trust as much as I can the first day, so there's no way for me to get 1 to 100% trust.

Pororin village has tons of cats, but to access the village you need to do a quest.

Also you can tame them in one shot with a golden carp, here's the guide I used to get the fish

I know this isn't news but the archery competition quest fucking blows. Had to go kbm for it and still struggled because the giving robot was sitting targets before they were even up. What kind of crazy didn't scene eat this mission??

I saw someone on either yt or reddit who got so pissed at this mission that they took a wagon and set it up in front of the opponent so they had no line of fire.

There's a second village full of cats that doesn't require a quest to access. Behold:

I think the pull that this game has for alot of people is that it's just a bunch of overlapping system that still work even after the player starts fucking with the world.

For instance: turns out NPC will grab anything the player drops. So some dude started fucking with them by putting stuff on logs over cliffs.

Ah now that is the mark of quality -- sandbox jank for fun, profit and mayhem is the secret sauce of replayability. I love this kind of silly shit.

yesterday i spent like 1.5 hours trying to fight drill dude and fight frustrated the fuck out of me cause he stun locks you if get caught in his burrow attack just a little bit. Also i despise the decision to the grabby arm power on left stick, the amount of time it poped up while i was trying to dodge it made me actually experience gamer rage for the first time in years.
and once i figured that you can stun him with the palm strike and it ended right after this discovery.
sometimes when when i play this game it feels like I'm entering cheatcodes on PS2 with how ridiculous the controls are.

I'm sick of looking at rocks and climbing shit. I know there are other options but I just wish this element was smoother. Since they're patching everything you'll probably be climbing like an Assassin with a Creed next week anyway.

that element is smoother, you have a grappling hook, and double jump to make climbing fast, you can also do the aerial charge stab which lets go even further up

That's why I said I'm aware of the other options.. I just mean the actual regular climbing. I wish it it felt smoother I hate the amount of times you can reach a crevice you can pull up onto to regain stamina and sometimes you'll just do the pull up animation then detatch.

you can also do the aerial charge stab which lets go even further up
This I don't know about though. Is this an unlockable move?

You have to unlock the stab skill in the blue tree, you may need to upgrade it some, but you’ll be able to use the stab in the air and you can aim yourself upwards to gain even more height.

Gotta say I hate how numerically bland items are. Who gives a shit if BIS items exist, there's no reason a legendary sword hidden behind an obtuse questline should be identical to a random bandit sword stats wise. I get that SOME things like the kuku crafted stuff are truly unique and that a lot of an item's value is tied to the abyss gears it might have, but there's not many. The game certainly has the real estate to do it. Imagine going through all the effort to create cool models for legendary items only for them to be no better than some of the stuff players got within the first hour.

Yeah its an odd duck. On one hand I like that my starting gear has some staying power, it makes me feel more attached to it and it feels like everything has value. But it is also very lame picking up the "Sword of Raping all that Lives!" And it's worse then my junky starting sword because I upgraded it 10 times.

The best part? The Devs saw that people where using it to basically fly through the air and instead of nerfing it actually gave it its own smoother animation.

Man, its rare to see a dev that looks at users having fun and decides to make things more fun instead of taking it away and declaring they're playing the game wrong.
