I was talking to a a professor who did work organizing and setting up these big workshop events for mentally disabled teenagers and young adults. Mostly life skills, basic job skills, and other stuff that could make these people if not independent, at least better able to get along. A big part of the program was actually asking the people what specifically they wanted to work on and the men in the group always wanted to figure out how to get a girlfriend and learn about dating.

I think in most cases it's normal hormones and a desire to have that special relationship. After all, these people might be slow but the fact they can learn to ride a bus or get a job means they have some understanding of how the world works and how they feel. Having a lower than average IQ doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a shit parent (especially if you have help) or that you can't love your children or you're children can't be functional (hey, not everyone can be a rocket scientist anyway).

Sam may also operate under the Chandler approach to meeting the ladies where he waits for da women to pursue him which, unless he's around a very constant circle of people on his level, has about a 0% chance of happening. I'm getting a bit rambly here but my overall point is that if someone, ideally parents or a caregiver, sat Sam down and told him to stop bitching and worked with him to try and chance his mindset then maybe he could have some success.

This guys is a man who, I guarantee, has never told his insecurities to anyone in real life. Only online. His step siblings probably have no idea he hates them so much. They probably think he's just a bit off.

If he would have talked to his family about his problems, he probably would have never become this far gone. They could have helped him and helped him learn to talk to people and make friends. At this point, he will be living a life of miserable solitude, or suicide. His only hope would serious therapy

I've read theories that autism is pretty much caveman behavior pre socialization or on steroids. Repetitive tasks like hunting/gathering and focus on details increase survival odds. Now a days that translates to memorizing sonic and maps and trains. Lack of socialization is the biggest thing. Cavemen didn't because tigers would eat them or something like that. Just pulling this out of my ass now: what if all these autists just need need need to procreate because of their caveman instinct to spread their (unfit) seed?
More serious if I had to guess why autists actually wanted gfs it's because they think it's their magical cure all like troons and estrogen. Or a mommy stand in to feed them chicken tendies. Chris always wanted a woman who was employed despite never having a job (Wendy's don't count)
 
I think that in their horribly oversimplified view of life, getting a girl means you don't have to do anything else. Everything you need, money, companionship, sex, a car, someone to do the laundry, it will all be done by this person.

Not out of genuine misogyny, but a infantile worldview that that is really what females do.

Getting a girlfriend to them is on the same level we ponder getting a job, apartment and reliable personal transportation set up, and they don't see why they can't "have one" like we do because they're old enough!
