Even without the art filter the game's presentation is bland as well as the character animations. Im not sorry your eye for quality is that bad.

Its literally just Paper Mario with parry and QTEs. Theres nothing original about it in fact its the template for every Mother inspired RPG.

Finally got around to playing this and about halfway through. Maybe i'm entering my grumpy old fuck phase or maybe after hearing all year how this is the greatest game ever it could never live up expectations, but it is pretty good. Ironically get Final Fantasy XVI vibes and my biggest complaint is the same for both. Combat is fun until you learn the enemy rythm then fun is replaced with tedium. Somehow have remained spoiler free on the story so intrigued to see how that turns out and i'm open to having my mind changed in the second half.
 
Clair Obscur is such an aggressively French game. I think it went above and beyond many of the expeditions many people had for it initially that much can be said.

Leading with I think the game is overrated and here's the flaws followed by here are the games I think are better is more productive than, just saying the game is slop.

People are less upset that it won GOTY and more that it just swept every category it was nominated for (except Player's Choice ironically) which just highlights how bad the selection process was this year.

Theres nothing wrong with pointing out that everything surrounding the game is hyperbole and the fans are acting like faggots over it.
