What is this? I don't really follow video games anymore outside of the ones I already like and have been playing for decades.

Usually I don't trust "popular" games anymore because it is just marketing or the whole game-of-the-month thing that they do now. What's the elevator pitch on this one?
Turn based RPG with real time elements both during your turn and the enemies turn. Characters that aren't retarded, and the game isn't bloated to shit.

That is like the action command system in Mario RPG and Paper Mario, which were the best part of the combat system in those games. Pretty neat! I always thought every turn-based RPG would use action commands. Maybe the popularity of this game will make them more of a standard. It is unfathomable that they never caught on across the genre decades ago.

Yes very similar to the Paper Mario action commands, although not as much variety in how those commands are performed. Additionally, every party member has their own gimmick to how they fight. For example, Lune is the "wizard" of the group and she accumulates colors depending on what abilities she uses and then those colors can be used to boost matching abilities to make it stronger or add effects. So there's a degree of planning the order of her actions to get the most bang for your buck.

Yeah, it's kinda like Active Reload from Gears Of War, never understood why more games didn't copy it. Taking a part of a game where the player has normally no input and turning it into a minigame.

It never caught on because that means that developers actually have to design the enemy encounters beyond tweaking number values.

I checked my achievements on Steam and was quite surprised that less than 50% of Steam players got to Act III. How many posers are running around pretending to love this game?

and they seethe for no reason.
There is a reason usually, it’s because they are insecure that their preferred game didn’t get the recognition they think it deserved. The most visible butt hurt people are KCD 2 fans, Hollow Knight fans, and multiplayer slop fans.

Now comes a game with an emotional and heartbreaking story made by a rather small yet passionate teram and they seethe for no reason.
Yes the small yet passionate team of trust fund babbies back by one of the biggest corporations in the world made an rpg of thats an amalgamation of popular JRPGs only with unreal 5 assets so normies wouldn't turn it off after 5 minutes.

Its a shame that this game is going to crash and burn hard within the next couple of years thanks to all the chucklefucks glazing it as the second coming of RPGs because despite all the hyperbole its actually really good but it feels like it's going the way of Bioshock Infinite where it gets herald the year it came out but completely shunned years down the pipeline.

Bioshock Infinite isn't a good game while E33 is.

People really forgot about the niggers at the beginning, and that your 4 man team is three strong warrior women, woke slop game with trash parrying. Most retarded combat system you could create, it's like "parry new Doom" but for turned based games.

It’s really funny to see people on Twitter pitch a fit over the game winning so much.
I don't get what are even the alternatives:
* Death Stranding 2 was worse than the first.
* Nintendo games are games for babies with gameplay that was dated 20 years ago.
* Silksong is more player adverse than fun, with some atrocious design decisions. It being overhyped didn't help.
* Hades 2 is nigger faggot.
* Kingdom Come 2 was a wet fart.

E33 is the only game on the list to not hate the players or care more about the developers politics/vision.

You're saying this as if E33 isn't another movie game slop. At least 4/5 of those slots are well...games that have discussions pertaining to gameplay whereas all discussions in regards to E33 is largely centered on a narrative that doesn't even exist (a bunch of upstarts wanted to make a game driven by passion and nothing more) because the gameplay aspect is derivative, the game's art is ugly, and the story is baby's first mood piece.

People are less upset that it won GOTY and more that it just swept every category it was nominated for (except Player's Choice ironically) which just highlights how bad the selection process was this year.
