You're saying this as if E33 isn't another movie game slop. At least 4/5 of those slots are well...games that have discussions pertaining to gameplay whereas all discussions in regards to E33 is largely centered on a narrative that doesn't even exist (a bunch of upstarts wanted to make a game driven by passion and nothing more) because the gameplay aspect is derivative, the game's art is ugly, and the story is baby's first mood piece.

People are less upset that it won GOTY and more that it just swept every category it was nominated for (except Player's Choice ironically) which just highlights how bad the selection process was this year.
Sounds like what a salty Nintendo fanboy would say

Using the term "slop" means that you're a faggot.

What else do you need but the passion to make a game? This is a confusing statement.

Okay, what JRPG in the last ten years has been 100% non-derivative? Are you somehow expecting originality in a genre that has existed since the late 80s? The visual style is fantastic and only held back by the fact that is on a mostly unmodified version of Unreal Engine 5. As for “baby’s first mood piece,” can you elaborate?

So, you're a Nintendo fan boy. Did you wife's boyfriend get you your Switch 2?
I’m a Nintendo fan too and loved DK Bananza. That doesn’t explain why he’s acting like this.

When the French faggot who made this literally ripped off Paper Mario and added QTEs I dont think you have any room to talk about Nintendo games.
The fact you use Paper Mario as an example shows you are a faggot, at least using the original Super Mario RPG is technically the first, but most people will point to The Legend of Dragoon or Shadow Hearts as an inspirtation.

He wants the same game he played for the last 20 years, only with some tacked on feature which he will then claim that Nintendo invented even if it existed in games for decades.

No your mom gave it to me as a present. What does that have to do with you being a butthurt tranny over people using the world slop? I never even said I was a Nintendo fan so you're just projecting.

The problem is that the narrative is fabricated. They're not upstarts their former AAA devs with years and the main creator is a nebo baby of one of the richest men in France, and the studio is being backed by NetGames. The selling point of E33 for its dickriders was that its 100% driven by passion untainted from the industry politics when its not.

Literally last year was one of the best years for JRPGs its not some dying genre. All E33 did was appeal to "I dont watch anime but I love Cowboy Bebop" crowd who don't have a strong opinion on anything unless its popular. Theres even faggots in this thread that has the same mindset as this. The sweep at the TGAs is just going to make it get crucified in the next few years when more people play it.

The guy who made it literally lists Paper Mario as one of its inspirations he has basic bitch taste in JRPGs. Nobody gives a fuck about Dragoon or Shafow Hearts except for meme material.

It's just the autism du jour. It's just that the term decayed from low quality to just shorthand for I don't like the media.

What else should I use then? I dont think E33 is shit or trash but it definitely does appeal to broad fixture of audience that indulges in things to feel smarter or sophisticated which describes "movie games" like TLOU and Alan Wake.

Uh huh.

I think the biggest problem with this game is that it's French. And French people are pretentious all the time about their shit. Big deal, I can have a story where a retard looks into a snowglobe and flashbacks to him in WW2 eating glue while a bunch of naked dudes with bird masks dance around him - It doesn't mean it's like, deep or thought-provoking.

The selling point of E33 for its dickriders was that its 100% driven by passion untainted from the industry politics when its not.
The selling point of E33 is that it’s a Japanese-style RPG without 50-100 hours of filler, the usual eye-rollers that detract from JRPG stories and presentations, and has a combat system that isn’t complex for the sake of itself and actively engages the player throughout instead it being a series of dice rolls that you mash A through until it’s your turn to roll the dice. I’ve only seen a small portion of people make a fuss about the industry connections of the developers as if that suddenly invalidates that the game is good.

Literally last year was one of the best years for JRPGs its not some dying genre. All E33 did was appeal to "I dont watch anime but I love Cowboy Bebop" crowd who don't have a strong opinion on anything unless its popular.
I didn’t say JRPGs are dying, I asked you to tell me about this mythical JRPG that’s been completely original in the last ten years, not even just the last year.

And you can be mad as much as you like, but a lot of people don’t buy JRPGs because the genre is so incestuous in it’s derivation that most JRPGs are indistinguishable from each other and look like a light novel adaptation with generic modern anime aesthetics and a little too much of a focus on female characters for their AGP customers. I don’t like Silksong and thing the same think about it that you do about E33, but I’m aware enough to recognize that Silksong is still a well-made game and there’s nothing wrong with people who normally don’t play those type of games enjoying it.

They still have low employee count, not that much larger than Silksong that somehow still gets to keep the "Indie" label.

It's a good game, sorry it doesn't have someone yelling Bing Bing Wahoo in it.
Where did I say it was shit or trash? I said its art was trash which is true, its gameplay its derivative which is true, and its only getting attention because its "le sad story" made by trust fund babies which is definitely true.
It's art is good, the meme of "it's bad because it's UE5" is just you being retarded. Even purely design wise it's amazing. Gameplay derivative is just bullshit, it manages to blend features from different games in a really good way. And it gets attention because it's a legit good game with an ending which is more interesting than 99.999% games on the market.

But it doesn't have Bing Bing Wahoo so it's bad.

All youre doing is proving my point. Its main appeal is that its a movie game disguised as a JRPG whats more insulting is that the creator loves the genre and shout out the creators of FF and Chrono Trigger yet the fanbase has this dismissal for his inspiration and passion because its "weebshit".
I’ve only seen a small portion of people make a fuss about the industry connections of the developers as if that suddenly invalidates that the game is good.
Its literally the main selling point of the game and why it won so much notoriety to begin with. Nobody gives a shit that the game is good it wasn't the only good game this year nor was it exceptional it just made for a good underdog story same shit with Astrobot because its less fun when the giant corporation walks away with the top prize.
I didn’t say JRPGs are dying, I asked you to tell me about this mythical JRPG that’s been completely original in the last ten years, not even just the last year.
Metaphor had an original story and message about the importance of fiction and how it can shape one's perception on life and it actively avoided all those cliches you were talking about and weebs hated it citing it as woke.
And thats their fucking problem but heres a thing...thats a huge selling point they just don't want to admit it. Once Dispatch showed female nudity people went to try it out even E33 is indistinguishable from Atlus games when most of your party members are female who wear skimpy outfits, one of the characters doesn't even wear shoes, and look pretty. This is the reason why E33 fags belong in that category of normie who cant have a stance on anything.
I don’t like Silksong and thing the same thing about it that you do about E33, but I’m aware enough to recognize that Silksong is still a well-made game and there’s nothing wrong with people who normally don’t play those type of games enjoying it.
Thats fine Im just giving my opinion because the discourse surrounding E33 is annoying and its what's going to kill it in the foreseeable future because outside all the hyperbole its still a good game.

You’re either trolling or retarded. Either way, cut it out.
