Twin disks are dope. I keep wanting to do one in the Honda but at same time I kinda like the brutality of the unsprung single six puck, with a stupid short trans. It definitely is awful in traffic.

The tr3a like all English cars likes to over heat in traffic and well it's not the easiest shifter.

Anything semi sane stick I'm fine in stop and go. Took my pops to airport a few days ago and we all know how bad that can be but I didn't blink. Granted his wrx is stock.

The typical approach is to thumb your nose at the twin disc, since it is $1,500+, and buy a horrific pucked single disc with a pressure plate that could flatten a penny. I will say emphatically that it is the wrong call and you're better off buying the twin disc with streetable plates than a single disc with aggressive pucks if you are making big power. There are even twin disc clutches with the floating plate attached to the basket so there's no rattling.

As an aside I have no idea why so many hondas run such aggressive clutches when they make so little torque even boosted, more than once I've seen awful unsprung pucked clutches go into civics making <400lbft of torque, and outside of the drag cars there are very few which would make as much torque as the car I have my twin disc in. Hondas must use very small disc diameters or something.

Do you mean modern Hondas or older ones because modern Civics 8th gen+ have had pretty weak clutches. The 10th gen Si is notorious for slipping after a mild tune. Odd thing about the 10th gen Si is it has a dual mass flywheel. Very strange choice for a Civic.

I've never paid attention to anything later than EK, whatever generation that translates to. Plenty of cars come with weak stock clutches, it's a whole different matter how often honda guys seemed to put race spec clutches in cars that would do just fine with a sprung full disc that just has a more aggressive material. I'm not surprised at any 4cyl with a dual mass flywheel, they're low hanging fruit for NVH improvement.

EK would be gen 6.

But, well back when I put this in I just rebuilt trans and had the motor done and wasn't quite swimming in cash.

I run an 8lb fly, I love love love it. It's as light as you can go before streetable issues like over heating in traffic. The stock iirc is 16ish and drag only is 6.5lb

But yeah for some reason it's JUST Honda people too over clutching. Back when I was at every meet etc even the dumb dumbs with other brands didn't over do it. Dunno why either older Hondas don't have too weak clutches either.

When mine died first time and was pushing maybe 100 whp I got a "stage 1" full face etc felt little more grip but a "sporty" stock.

When I have my lsvtec trans with it had a full face race clutch so I just got used to it.

Now with more power used to it didn't have a ton of cash and wasn't my daily I said let's go for something that won't mind track days.

Yeah when this wears out I'll research twins. Friend of mine had a bolt on only gsr with one took a min to get used to but man it was nice. I think I'd be happy with one .

Right now I'll just tough it out because I'm lazy, cheap (says the man who spent over 1300 on head work) and barely drive so it's kinda addicting in a strange way. Anyone who isn't used to it I tell em just drive like you hate it. Really it's an on off and gotta rev up because fly drops RPM quickly.

While my current car is basically my spirit animal, I may go with something more subtle the next go around. You're either being revved at all the time at stoplights by third-owner G35s, Z cars and fart-canned Civics or alternately some dude in a lifted truck is super salty that he got passed by a tiny turbo hatchback and will risk life and limb (not just his own, either) to try and get in front of you despite that being being something he never had control over in the first place.

My grandpa on my dad's side had a cord brand new. Iirc was like 3500. But at the time like more than a home money. Sold it when he shipped out to the military. Somewhere i have pics. Go figure after the market for illegal booze dried up the money did and definitely didn't grow up rich lol.

I legit can't get into my buddies after a rugby game I kinda have to grab the car and hop in hoping I can spin quick enough to fall into the seat forward and I'm in good shape not even 40 lol.

When I took my driver's test I had my dad's auto at the time crx. Guy giving it couldn't get the belt on he was so heavy. Told me just don't say anything I'll pass you.
Yeah, a doctor earned $2000 per year back then and the average home was $1200

One day I’ll get back to working on my Model T that I made rise from the dead. Fun to drive too
Oh nice, I love model ts. What plans do you have for it?

Once the family drama surrounding it is resolved, I’m either going to make it back into a roadster or a roadster truck conversion. However, first thing I’m going to do is replace the cracked drive drum in the transmission.

Well this past few days have been eventful for my car. The anti theft system came on while I was getting breakfast at a restaurant, so that was fun. Got it towed, fixed, including the turn signals, and now after less than a day, it won't power on. Taking it back lol. Also found out what was wrong with the horn: the clock spring. Which the shop can't find. ANYWHERE. Apparently early 2000's GM parts are hit or miss. Theyre still looking, but I'm going to be looking as well, ebay, scrap yards, rock auto, that type of thing. Also going to get the transmission serviced, it's clunky and near 100k miles.

On the plus side... helped my old man install a new fuel tank into his 1978 F150 Ranger Explorer. Which I'm now borrowing lol. Gotta love how God lines up these things

Sweet. I personally would rather have a dragster or an offroad only truck than a classic car since it would likely be totalled by a karen or an illegal. Someone i know lost two brand new cars this year that way, building or restoring a nice classic and then losing it that way would really suck

It'd suck, yeah, but life is too short for me to worry about what might happen. I drive old everyday and have never had a problem that weren't mechanical.

I hate that stereotype for Ford owners now is that they’re fags. I own a f150 and I’m not a fag lmao. But after seeing this in a car discord, I think I’m gonna leave (I rarely use discord anymore since it’s full of fags and trannies)

In earnest, if you're in a Discord/group because you have a FORD, you're masculinely insecure.

Get a E60 M5. Weren't you looking for an AMG car?
I was but I realized that I’m almost done paying my truck. It’ll be a decently big down payment towards something newer. I’m either thinking used f80 m3, m550i or Audi rs3, s7/rs7, s4, or if I want American probably an ATS V.

Well the Chevy Malibu, after having to jump it once after getting it back (lol I know) is working pretty smoothly. They changed the transmission fluid, and now it shifts better and squeaks less( still squeaks a bit, but what can u do lol). Overall... it's doing fairly well. I'm knocking on wood saying that, especially now that the radio is kinda squealing, with or without the add on antenna, and I found the CD player don't work, but hey, it's a 20 year old computer. Probably needs replacing. Might get it one with a screen that can take DVDs as well as CD's.
