Fun fact: Ford hated designs with belts, so when engineers came to him with the model T design he had them make the fan belt the same size as the kind of belt you wear around your waist for easy roadside repairs. Allegedly.
I haven’t heard that one yet, but I guess some tape and cut belt leather would work in a pinch. That said, a Model T doesn’t strictly need the belt to run. It just turns the cooling fan and a stock setup has no water pump. The engine won’t overheat without the fan unless it’s stopped for several minutes.

I don’t know why but I like the 2nd gen rams, especially in the single cab short bed configuration. Wether It’s a 2wd or a 4wd model. I would love to own a sport trim one with the 5.9 magnum.

I already know the problems with these trucks. Especially the cracked dashboards. But these are more affordable than a single-cab Chevy of the same era.

That's the generation that ruined trucks forever. It was so good looking everyone else followed suite and now we have $70k luxury trucks.

That being said I've had a Dakota and a 2500 common rail from that generation and they were so so nice. Well not the Dakota but it looked cool and was comfy

Brief update, found a tire on the chevy malibu with cracking sidewalls. Gonna have it checked today, and assess my replacement options. Nothing too fancy, but i was thinking Goodyear, always had goid luck with them

Those 8 cylinder Rams were the trucks of my childhood. Still plenty rolling around, but they give me feels all the same. Would want one in red or yellow

Ok, update on "HotRod", my busted 03 Chevy Malibu. Talking with my family, probably a lot of problems are in the PCM with how many blown fuses I've found. What I imagine happen before the punk kid got it impounded:

On the plus side, mechanically it's sound, though the drivers side door leaks a bit in the car wash lol. I'll work on it. Also my stickers arrived, the ride has been pimped. Also been testing speed. It's 0-60 with its budget tires are actually pretty quick with that invincible 3.1 L 6 banger. Honestly the engineering that went into this thing, fucked electrical yet it still rolls, is very impressive to me. Chevrolet back in the day was tough as nails, like damn.
One of the more common tropes about GM cars is that they'll run like shit longer than a lot of cars will run.

As for tires, I just use Tire Rack. Costco or Sam's work as well if you just want something cheap black and round that'll hold air, but they usually don't carry the fun stuff like Pilot Sports

I did get the tires sorted at a place I usually go to, pretty fair to me, got some Hancook's that I moved to the front, and since only one was going to blow out, and the other 3 were good, I have a spare just sitting, ready if something pops.

As for GM's being tough, have to agree. It may squeak, but I have no indication it's falling apart. And by everything I've read, it's only half way through its mileage, barring any overhauls once it hits 200k. I also got it's Hanes Manual yesterday, and I'll say this much just skumming it; this car is simple as fuck internally. Getting the electrical systems fixed might not cost as much as I thought tbh

Anyone else like prewar cars?
My grandpa on my dad's side had a cord brand new. Iirc was like 3500. But at the time like more than a home money. Sold it when he shipped out to the military. Somewhere i have pics. Go figure after the market for illegal booze dried up the money did and definitely didn't grow up rich lol.

Lotus Elise. You need to have a good degree of finesse just to get in the car.
I legit can't get into my buddies after a rugby game I kinda have to grab the car and hop in hoping I can spin quick enough to fall into the seat forward and I'm in good shape not even 40 lol.

When I took my driver's test I had my dad's auto at the time crx. Guy giving it couldn't get the belt on he was so heavy. Told me just don't say anything I'll pass you.

I hate that stereotype for Ford owners now is that they’re fags. I own a f150 and I’m not a fag lmao. But after seeing this in a car discord, I think I’m gonna leave (I rarely use discord anymore since it’s full of fags and trannies)

I also found CCF on youtube. Some of their videos are pretty funny. I haven't joined the Discord though but it seems like I made the right choice.

It kinda sucks that they have to censor a lot because of YouTube’s bullshit rules. But they’re still funny. And as for discord, there’s always fags in every discord. Even if it’s a “based Nazi discord”.

Update on my journey with the 03 Malibu: the front end is fixed, with a new headlight assembly to keep the headlights secure and headlamps. Also some pins to keep the grill in better. Overall 100 bucks for the fix, pretty damn good. Beat out a dent too. Also got that shit head kid's LED lightbar fully unhooked. The Hanes manual I got came in handy.

Now it's 3 main things left:

1. the electronics controlling the turn signals. I'm letting a shop I'm cordial with deal with that shit.

2. Transmission flush. I let my old man drive it as I had been feeling some issues rumbling after coming to stops sometimes. His conclusion is the Transmission needs new fluid. He's been doing this shit well before I was born, so I'll take his word on it. I have 2 paths, either A. Do it myself, or B. If the electronic repairs aren't that much, have the shop do it. I'm good with either

3. Sqeaky bushings. Again, same drive, my old man figured out what the squeaks were, some old bushings. I'm going to inspect it, if it's no real danger I'll let it be, live with it, less money I have to dump into this beater the better, or if it's bad or something more, deal with it then.

Overall, my 03 Chevrolet Malibu is slowly coming together. It's definitely not a forever car, really just a box to get me to point A to B while I save for better. But it is fun to work on, I'll say that much

If you’re wondering what slowly going insane sounds like. Then here you go
This is what I hear daily

So many annoying chimes and dings. I've actually unplugged the chimes/buzzers in just about all of my cars. I haven't done it in my FD but I may. The only other car I haven't removed the chime from is one of the old BMWs which will ding to announce a problem on the status display such as engine temp high, oil level low, or a light being out, which is useful but I am still annoyed if it dings at me if I have a door open with my keys in it. I have only locked the keys in the car once in my life and it was because they fell off of my clip on the seat as I got up, and I've never left the lights on and killed my battery, so I consider the chimes a nuisance since nobody else drives my cars.

The old dodge trucks had the most awful buzzer...
