Same, which is why I was confused by the reviews, both positive and negative, talking about how that last part was the best part. I thought the beginning and middle were way more entertaining than the ending, when it plows right into "standard MCU formula".

Mind if I ask why you are so desperately trying to defend a very obviously meh movie? That's just...weird to me lol.

I am autistic and mad.

But also because a lot of people (albeit not here, necessarily) have a lot of personal steak in seeing this flop, and I like seeing upset nerds. You follow the /tv/ board? Some of them are now kicking around the theory maybe it will do well, but only because of actual money laundering by Disney. And I hope to God a YouTuber or two takes that and tries to run with it.

Mostly autismad tho.

...um.

I share your skepticism, as he did the exact same thing for The Force Awakens to generate buzz.

Okay. It's just getting creepy now.

Nothing will be funnier than this being a critical dud but still overperforming considering the YouTubers were clearly banking on it being blown by the citics and mainstream media and holding out hope it would be a financial disappointment.

"Numbers will continue to fluctuate." This means nothing is set in stone.

That said, I've said it once, and I'll say it again: I fully expected for this movie to be frontloaded. There was no chance that this film was going to flat-out "bomb" because the MCU, over the past 20 or so movies, has proven itself to be reliable entertainment. The average movie-goer will see "MARVEL STUDIOS" and immediately think that they're guaranteed for a good time at the movie theater. Plus, Marvel basically advertised this movie as something you must watch before Endgame (misleading, tbh).

Next weekend is going to be the weekend to look out for in terms of how audiences will respond to this movie. I think this movie is going to be another Last Jedi situation, and not at all a Black Panther situation.

Jesus Christ, Kevin. lol.

I started following him on Instagram when he started his weight loss journey after his heart attack. Genuinely, good for him. I was legit happy for him.

Yeah, I unfollowed when I saw this fucking nonsense and shilling on my feed. I heard about the Stan Lee "tribute" in the movie. Like, it sounds cool and all, but it doesn't seem like something that would make be sob in theaters? I held back tears for Stan Lee's cameo in Spider-Verse, because, DAMN, that one was poignant. A little montage during the Marvel Studios logo? That's cool ... But it won't make me cry.

I read about what his cameo was in this movie. Admittedly, to the credit of the film, it's pretty damn clever. He was on a train, with the same de-aging effect used for Sam Jackson, reading a script for Mallrats. I like it.

For someone who feigns self-deprecation, Kevin Smith CLEARLY has an ego on him, and he plays victim when it isn't stroked.

No. No to this SJWBS. And to think, I thought the MCU was just a little bit safe from this BS, too. SJWs really do ruin everything - and it's all made worse by how they either don't care and/or are deliberate about it, just for da brownie points against politicians they don't like or towards a nation as great as the US that they clearly wish was more like Venezuela or some deadland BS like that. Fuck em' all and take this pathetic excuse for pandering with you, ya fucks. Please & Thank You.

I've seen legit people saying that Captain Marvel's and Ralph 2's Stan Lee cameos are better because "they're made at the house instead of a foreigner stealing it like Sony, besides Ralph came out first so it's better than Spider-verse because of it".

I dunno how much of a Disney/ rat asskisser do you have to be to think those movies had "more poignant" cameos than Spiderverse's...

I think the movie will make it's money back at least, more so than Solo did.

Besides if the movie actually does do as well as you think it will the MCU is fucking fucked, they will get the message that crap like this is acceptable and they will double down.

So either way, if your right maybe we will get our wish and these movies will decline. Especially since the bad worth of mouth caused a drop in profits for TLJ and later Solo.

Well people expecting the movie to bomb, remember it is generally not the first movie that gets punished, it is the movie after it that does if it is really bad. Though I find it strange to release a movie so close to Endgame, basically this movie has 2 good weeks until it has to compete against other Disney movies. Regardless, I am not going to see this movie in its opening weekend as it doesn't deserve opening weekend money.

Spider-verse should have been the last one forever. I don't care that it's not MCU and not technically in that specific tradition, that was the GOAT and nothing they do is going to outdo that scene, in that point in time.

In a very sad and bittersweet way, the Spider-Verse cameo happened at the most perfect time. It was the first cameo after Stan Lee's passing, and given the context of the movie, it's downright crazy that THAT was the cameo that was shown right after his death.

"I'm going to miss him. We were friends, you know." MY HEART.

Reports are saying that Stan's last cameo is going to be for Spider-Man: Far From Home. I think it's pretty poignant that Stan Lee's last cameo ever filmed was for a Spider-Man movie. I am also happy he was able to film a cameo for Avengers: Endgame.

I pray that Disney isn't tacky enough to CGI the poor man for future Marvel movies, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Carol Danvers is THE WORST in the comics. She is absolutely not a hero.

It's hilarious how Disney and Marvel Studios are telling little girls everywhere to look up to her when she's actually an arrogant, conniving, and totalitarian thundercunt.

Now, I normally wouldn't take issue with a character having flaws like this, but Carol not only seems to lack redeeming qualities these days, but the comics are telling us that being this horrible is a GOOD thing. It's ridiculous!

SJWs have creative control in comics so I don't see how it's ridiculous that they idolize "an arrogant, conniving, and totalitarian thundercunt".

I don't read Marvel Comics anymore: the entire Marvel NOW! line made it clear to me that reading them is more painful than satisfying.

That being said, I want to find the 3 or 4 panels where Hydra Cap assblasted Captain Marvel and some other lady over going straight back to the idiotic shit they were doing in Civil War 2 immediately following its conclusion. Nick Spencer (not exactly the best of writers) was trying to prelude to Secret Empire and make Captain America out to be an emerging villain, but to any remotely sane mind he was making perfect sense in his criticisms.

It's time to dispel the notion that they don't know what they're doing. They know exactly what they're doing.

There's this EVS video that shows the user review rocketing up with fake reviews after the mass deletion earlier today:

But when I hit up rt just now the missing user reviews have returned:

Oh, the return of the reviews was brief, now back down to again, just a minute later:
689398

They are actively rigging this as we speak it seems. They still have the missing reviews, not deleted, just hidden, while that user score is being gamed. The user review score has went up by more than 2000 in 45 minutes.

I'm physically getting tired of how much Rotten Tomatoes protects Captain Marvel:

TLDR - RT, after deleting 54K reviews that barely changed the Audience Score (32% to 34%), now has >10k new reviews inflating the score up to 50%.

I'm quite impressed by the sheer amount of effort going into advertising this film. Without getting into details, I'm currently in a town of about 100,000 people in Australia and there are ads for Marvel everywhere. Every TV in every shop is playing ads for it and even small time cafes and restaurants have posters up. I've never seen this level of advertising before.
