So now the professional critics and mainstream media are in two camps:

  1. "Captain Marvel was...okay, I guess."
  2. "Captain Marvel's quality is irrelevant, because something something toxic sexist misogynistic man-piss-baby nerds!"

Prime example of number 2:

I need someone to fill me in. Does Dobson hate the DCEU, or is he that ignorant that he doesn't know that Wonder Woman released with no controversy? (Aside from the female-only showings of the film at that one chain, but it wasn't towards the film itself.)

Dobson was in favor of the female-only showings and made a comic about it. So he’d claim that proves men hate WW.

Inflation Fetish Bear only pays attention to the shiny objects he's interested in (ie, Nintendo products) or things the woke people he worships are discussing so he can echo what they're saying in the hopes they'll give him good boy points(tm). He has absolutely no knowledge of the world outside of his little bubble outside of what he's heard and read in passing..

So if you were to ask him about WW he'd say he knows it exists and then say it's good (because it stars a woman) but if you asked him if he's actually seen it he wouldn't be able to respond.

The Ghostbusters reboot also was a critical failure, but we're stilling getting beat over the head with how terrible people are for disliking it. The generally negative fan reaction to it is still being brought up as an example of an egregious wrong perpetrated against the righteous woke.

That article will not be a lone voice, all the usual outlets will inevitably pile on. Already detractors are labeled as creepy racist sexists. That tone might well dominate once the movie flops proper.
What a complete projection. These people feel a psychological need to have crap representation on screen and are calling other people crazy for saying "hey this kinda sucks."

Dob, people dislike all of IGN's "reviews". Check out Sonic Unleashed some time.

Also that being put below a post of negative WAMEN reviews while Dobby shrieks with his white male rage is so deliciously ironic.

Anyone else find it funny that Devil May Cry 5 is coming out on the same day as this for an IRL Marvel vs. Capcom? Final trailer has more character and pathos in it too.

Dobson and other fat, bald cretins like him (see: Bob Chipman), are essentially are the horseshoe theory equivalent of fedora wearing neckbeards: in a futile effort to make up for the fact that they are boring dullards whose largest life experiences revolve around worthless pop culture, they make bold dramatic statements about empowering women from the safety and comfort of their smartphones. They are perpetual forever alone losers who try and play the white knight but anyone with a functioning pair of eyes can tell they're just creeps looking for a fuckmommy.

He hates DC because he sees Batman as the quintessential dudebro superhero.

Why would Marvel choose to fuck up literally months before Endgame? Was the siren song of the woke really that strong?

I'm going to see Endgame for two reasons: 1) to see how closely it follows the comic (and how it adapts where it can't) and 2) to officially reach a stopping point with the capeshit genre and allow myself to cash out on my psychological investment.

And that's fair. Even though I've ended up being overly disappointed with the MCU post-Antman, I'll be watching Endgame to close the chapter once and for all. It's a good place to get off the train and feel like the rest of it probably won't matter on the face of things.

One of the more obnoxious positive reviews reads like a parody, Peter Travers at Rolling Stone who is one of the prime examples of how useless most modern professional film critics are.

You could ding it for convoluted plotting and a retro style that flattens the usual Marvel fireworks. But a dynamite Brie Larson gives hell to cosmic villains and sexist trolls. And an orange feline named Goose is the best movie cat ever!

Travers will give almost any movie a rating of "FOUR STARS...A MASTERPIECE!" though so a positive review from him is not exactly an honor.

Yes, and their PR departments tell them that wokeness is the new "hip" thing.

>dynamite Brie Larson

Is this nigger even watching the same movie? In the same world?

Checked out the pre-ordering tickets app for my place now that it's premiere day here and they only have two movies: one of them is Captain Marvel while the other is only screening in very select theaters. My friend said it's common for Avengers-related movies to take up a lot of studios. Is this true, or is it only to an extent?

The theaters near me that were showing only Captain Marvel for a week yesterday now have a full lineup. CM does have 2-6x the amount of showings though, with most movies having a 1/4 or fewer than CM's 16-17 daily showings. 4-5 of the theaters 10 screens are CM, for entire week. Approx 32% of showings are CM. In comparison each other movie there has 9% or less of the total showings.
