The MCU is really an oddity in how it was constructed. The "Big Two" are stereotyped as only producing superheros but their comic universes are more a product of trying to add context to their publishing history, both as a marketing gimmick to get people to buy different titles and stringing together practically every genre under the sun to create settings where any kind of story can fit.
A unified universe in which to have stories take place is actually a really enjoyable thing. Everybody has had those talks with friends about how Goku could totally kick Superman's ass, or how Batman would lose to Spiderman. Instead of having superhero stories happen in a vacuum, they happen all in the same world, and is a fun way of saying that while Iron Man is taking care of some baddies in Asia, the Cap is dealing with people in South America. It gives a sense of a huge world where things are connected.

It's a lot of fun, and as someone who loves reading I want books with large worlds.

A lot of these reviews are just afraid of telling it like it is. But you read between the lines, it's boring, plodding with a convulted plot that goes nowhere.

Unfortunately I still think they're going to shove her down our throats in End Game.

As if Disney/ Feige will bring them over. The way they act, they'll probably prefer making a movie about Squirrel Girl than making a character "that's been done before!", like they did with so many Spiderman characters. Goodbye MCU Green Goblin, MCU Doctor Doom, MCU Magneto...

Why not make all of them? Squirrel Girl is a solid character if you throw out the last ten years and just make it a movie about a 15 year old girl who idolizes the Avengers so much that she runs around Central Park commanding an army of squirrels. Heck, have her do a team-up movie with Spider-Man. They'd be perfect together.

Magneto has been done well countless times, but we've yet to see a proper Doctor Doom in an FF film. Rise of the Silver Surfer did Doom well, as did the unreleased Roger Corman film. But I'd really like to see an established Doom, Ruler of Latveria, take on the Fantastic Four for once.

I love how a bunch of the reviews are like, "Ok, so what? Captain Marvel is mediocre. The rest of the comic book movies out there are mediocre too."

Yeah, no. If these feminist harpies thought the MCU was so mediocre, then why were they treating this movie like the second coming as recently as last week? Why do they even care about whether a woman is leading these movies or not if they don't even appear to be fans?

Oh yeah, that's right ... Feminists are infinite killjoys who will stick their noses in everyone's business, not allowing anyone to enjoy anything on their own.

The MCU has had a very good track record for 10+ years. This moment in time is the very first time I've been worried about the future for the brand.

If they drop the shit they're doing for Captain Marvel, I can see Feige doing good things with the Fantastic Four, finally.
You do realize that Fiege gets the Fantastic Four/X-Men back at the cost of 5,000 jobs being laid off, reducing the number of major studios to five, and Disney controlling 40% of the box office, right?

Yes, I am aware.

All I was saying was that if Disney wants the MCU to continue to be the hit that it is with audiences, then I don't think that continuing the Avengers franchise without its original cast and characters will be good enough (especially with Captain Marvel as the apparent leader). All that's left are table scraps of characters, really. The general audience will continue to be excited for the MCU, I think, because of the Fox properties that they are acquiring.

I'm not commentating on whether I'm happy with the deal itself or not. But, I guess that since we're on the topic: I don't like Disney acquiring Fox. I'm happy that the X-Men are back home at Marvel though ... I just wish it had not been at the cost of Disney acquiring one of the major film studios.

Just wondering because I don’t think Feige is uncomfortable with this fact.

No one is, yet the press are obsessed over the X-Men in the MCU.

What’s especially rich is they suck the dick of the MCU relentlessly, even Thor 2, yet are trying to pull this after people said “people who criticise the MCU are anti-progressive!”

I think Tony Stark will always be the heart of the MCU, Iron Man was the first film and it turned Iron Man from being a total unknown (Capcom chose War Machine over Iron Man for crying out loud) into one of the most iconic characters. The only other Avenger I feel is neccessary to hold onto is Thor because Thor is just such an utterly unique and charming character.

And come on if you're folding in the X-Men then you gotta do Avengers vs X-Men, and you can't just wipe the whole Avengers clean especially when X-Men is now being portrayed by relatively unknown actors.

I don't know the ins and outs of RT, but is it common for the same review score to count as both fresh and rotten on separate reviews?

These snippets, including the binary ratings, are all created manually by the critics themselves or RT staff. There can certainly be (((editorializing))) by either party, but nothing suspicious goes on in that particular screenshot: positive tl;dr == fresh, negative tl;dr == rotten.

Unless some alogging troll who hated the merger comes in and makes a X-Men/MCU film that retcons everything.

IMDb has negative user reviews on this movie.

It’s going to be Ghostbusters 2016 all over again, isn’t it.

I just read some spoilers over at Reddit for endgame. Take this with a grain of salt, I just searched for Captain Marvel, wanting to know her involvement. I didn't read anything else, just her introduction. When I saw this I just bust out laughing

Banner finished analyzing his scans of Marvel and speaks with Tony. He tells him that Captain Marvel is almost a perfect replica of an infinity stone herself

If this is real, this is the worst sort of fan-fic Mary Sue garbage I've read. It had me laughing. If they go with this it will be the fucking worst shit ever. Looks like Disney wants to drown the MCU.

I'm guessing this is from the third cut that Midnight's Edge didn't mention- the one that they'll pull out if Captain Marvel makes over a billion dollars.

If this happens it will be the biggest slap in the face audiences will ever get. They spent like 22 movies and 11 years with this and they want a satisfying conclusion.

Oh she’ll definitely fuss over this and force them to have her cut released to audiences.
