Maybe, but that's like saying I've eaten Big Macs at McDonalds for ten years straight (barf!), so I'm going Wendy's for a Baconator. It's still unhealthy, but it's a change of pace. At least the Shazam! trailer looked fun. Captain Marvel really feels underwhelming.
I though that Wendy's was at least a little bit healthier than McDonald's as well.

I really have no strong feelings toward this movie one way or another. I’ll probably see it (since I’m a big Marvel sperg), but the marketing’s gonna have to do a lot to get excited.

Looking over the trailer again, did this girl get drafted into some kind of Green Lantern Corp rip-off when she was having adventures in space? I don't know shit about the comic, so I have no idea if there's context for this.

Nope though it's explained they're borrowing little from the comics. She was originally just the love interest of Captain Mar-Vell who was an infiltrator for the Kree Empire pretending to be a guy working at NASA. Mar-Vell had a change of heart during one of his adventures and became a hero on Earth.

Carol got her powers after an accident that resulted in some of Marv's power bleeding into her. It's a mess to explain but it involved some dude's doomsday weapon.

Looks shit, but that won't stop it from making a gorillion dollars at the box office. To be honest, I thought Generic Capeshit Film had already hit its peak when Ant-Man's trailer was shown.

Pass.

Ms. Marvel herself looks to be about as interesting as an empty cardboard box, so at least they're staying somewhat true to the comics.

(Speaking of the name 'Ms. Marvel', I bet there'll be some cringy scene where someone calls Carol that and she corrects them, "No, I'm CAPTAIN Marvel!")

Is there any particular reason Brie Larson is showing all the emotional range of Keanu Reeves?

Hoo boy. This one may not go down well.

blockbuster i know what that is
I'm enternally confused by Larson's lack of ass. Yes, looks are lowhanging fruit and causes claims of sexism but it defies logic. Maybe she is perfect for modern Carol Danvers....

Captain Marvel 2 will be about hunting down the criminal who stole her butt. Thanks to the Fox buy-out, we can have it be a team-up with Hank Hill thus establishing King of the Hill as MCU.

Did anyone else hear a siren in that score that made you instantly think of this?

Oh great so instead of Adam Warlock save the day instead it's going to be Captain Noass instead, they really dropped the ball by doing nothing with Adam Warlocksince they introduced him (Remember in the post credit scene for Guardians of the Galaxy where a being called Him was created by the Queen of The Gold Skin people? That was Adam Warlock first name)

I think the main problem with this film is that it already seems like the main character was badly miscast, I honestly don't think Brie Larson is bringing the right charisma to the role, if it's true that the character is supposed to be a female Hal Jordan, then they needed someone with far more charisma and screen presence, IMO, Brie Larson typically does better in more relatable roles.

Just my 2 cents, I will probably wait for the RedLetterMedia video 1st, but time will tell.

It'll be to a young Coulson "That's CAPTAIN Marvel to you, rookie"

I've only seen Brie Larson in Scott Pilgrim and 21 jump st, I'm sure she can act, but this trailer certainly doesn't show any. Like Black Panther it'll be claimed as the first female superhero movie get rave reviews, make a ton of money and yet be a mediocre film. Marvel better be saving some emotion and acting from Brie otherwise that could spell trouble for whatever phase is next, Captain Marvel is supposed to come in and save the universe for the next Avengers film and be the tent-pole going forward. They'll need somebody charismatic to carry her if she only portrays somebody bored uninterested flat Stoic, look how quickly Marvel heroes all became quippy, fun iron-man.

Shopped smile already makes her look more likeable.
