A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

Streeting looks like a sex offender. He and Kier both have the aura of a 6th form teacher that has just been caught having sex with a student, but is now trying to argue that he 'loves her'. I hate them so much it's actually fucking unreal.

The only place to dump the invaders is London.
Goddamn it Jock. Dumping them in London just fucks the Midlands. London is so overflowing with wogs they now infest all the towns and villages around them. You have London in the South and Birmingham in the north. Everything between those places is now full of wogs and pakis. Try catching a train between brum and Londonistan and you will be the only white person on that train.

The Midlands was once a jewel of this country. Beautiful landscapes and so much history you could see and visit. The old country houses and gardens in that area are gorgeous and many of them are in decline and decay now. Instead of a quiet respectful walk around them you get curry niggers shouting into their phones and talking gobbledygook. Hanging around because 70 IQ makes it hard to navigate foot paths going through hedges. I said the other day I went to a rural farm shop on my travels and they were there doing the same shit. I see a lot of this country and I'm always glad to pass through the rural villages and see a little of old England. It's getting harder to come by and the majority of the cancer is flowing directly out of London into the surrounding area.

I would rant more but it's tea time. tl;dr Putting more wogs in London is like pouring more piss into a bucket already over flowing. You're going to spill it every where and still be left with a bucket full of piss.

God this guy is such an idiot. I’m guessing he’s really trying to up the hard left of Labour and take over before they end up with Corbyn (what with the tranny thing as well) but does he not realise how done people are with this shit? Some what predictable article. Everyone is far right and Starmers not doing enough to stop it!!

He looks like he touches kids and has a suit made of real women's skin in his closet. He's a fucking idiot if he thinks he's going to have a job after this. Why can none of them read the room? They're supposed to be smart and slimy if they're in politics not deaf, dumb and blind.

Uhm, ackshually, she was coming onto me. I never told her to take off her bra, knickers and climb onto me, sir, no way. In fact, I even told her to stop (in which my fingers mysteriously relocated themselves within her lower region) but she just kept going and what was I supposed to do? Female students these days are deeply corrupted by extreme content online and by their radicalised male peers. Frankly, I think there is only one solution to this problem.

I had to think.
While you're using your brain to think perhaps those neurons firing could allow you to learn of the edit post feature instead of fucking triple posting.

Fantastic point raised in that debate earlier today.

David Lammy was Foreign Secretary when Mandelson was appointed and he also gets control over which ambassador is chosen. Blair/Rayner/the Labour left are aiming to oust Starmer and I reckon it'll happen before Christmas going into the Senedd election next year and the May locals.
Something will have to give soon - there is now amplified talk that Labour rebels are now going to talk with opposition parties about an early vote on blocking Reeves' budget.

Apparently, the Blairites have already been trying to 'buddy up' with Nigel (despite their differences) and gauge whether or not Reform UK would be the ones to bring an early vote before the House.

They seem to understand that if Starmer presses the 'nuke' button then it's game over, but IF they have to go then they want to do as much damage to Starmer and Reeves as possible.

Blair might control the party, but Starmer is the PM and do not forget in all of this that he can go to the Palace at any time he wishes from mid October and say 'I want you to dissolve Parliament' to HM.

Now, Charles could say 'but why, when you've only been in power for just over a year?' but form states that unless the Privy Council advise him otherwise that he'd say 'okay, if that is what you believe is best then I grant consent.'

I daresay that Starmer will also have a lot of dirt on Blair and the Blairites as well - if the rift widens then it's a case of one of these happening:

Starmer attempting to keep power by jettisoning any rebels or 'traitors' from the party - no matter how many, anybody disloyal to him is out.

Blair and co. attempt a coup to remove Starmer - if this is found out, Starmer can then get his own back by going to the Palace. After all if he is going to be sacked, why should those sacking him be allowed to continue in Government as well?

Labour coups usually backfire - Bishop's Stortford in 1983, where Michael Foot was removed, would haunt Labour and keep them out of office until 1997.

All we need now is the 'Doof, Doof' and Eastenders theme tune playing in this Soap Opera.

If Farage lets any of the Blairites near Reform then Reform shouldn’t be a party at all.
Even if we have to suffer the full Labour term before a general election those cunts deserve to go down with the sinking ship.

100% and I cannot see it happening - Farage and Blair are sworn enemies.

More chance we'll see Jenrick, Bridgen, Trott and Mims Davies join Reform UK (all on the cards) and possibly Rees-Mogg too than any Blairite.

Might disappoint some, but I'll keep an open mind - after all these MP's were/have been deemed as 'too far right' for the Tories.

Is there any real chance of someone like Jacob Rees-Mogg breaking away from the conservative party? The man is a 19th century Tory who time travelled.

I think he'd fit right in considering his past rhetoric.

Considering he occasionally has stints on GBNews and thinks politics ought to be "fun," it's somewhat surprising he hasn't defected already. Though he doesn't currently have a seat so he can't "defect", but still, he can run in a seat under their banner.

I wouldn't say no.

Yes, he was central to the Tory Party under Boris, but now he and his values have been discarded by Kemi and co.

Don't forget that his sister Annunziata Rees-Mogg is a member of Reform UK and Jacob is very popular with the GB News fam and respected by Reform UK members. He's also been broadly complementary of Reform UK during his time as a Tory MP and since leaving office.

Now that Somerset Capital is no more, I suspect he will want a project to get his teeth into - that doesn't necessarily mean becoming a Reform UK MP, he can work to get investment and capital into the party and I know that he's befriended Bristol City's owner Steve Lansdown recently and got him talking with Nigel Farage. Mr. Lansdown (of Hargreaves Lansdown) is actually quite a big deal for Reform UK.

Jacob would be a coup for Reform UK and I would welcome him into the ranks.
