A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

It would be hilarious, agreed, but Starmer will not go of his own accord.

My hope is that the Conference Season is the end of Starmer or the beginning of the end at the very least. What IMO will end Labour is Reeves either:

1) Refusing to go to the IMF
2) Going to the IMF and refusing their offer of help
3) Her Budget being called into question/debate before Wednesday 26th November, a VONC in the Budget and refusal of it to pass.

With Reeves gone, it's then easier IMO to get rid of Starmer.

This article is a load of wank.

Teacher is teaching a bunch of 18-19 year old trouble makers. They are told to put their phones away or GTFO. One boy doesn't so the teacher takes him by the wrist (presumably to pull him up and kick him out or take the phone). Completely normal teacher behaviour. Ends up saying fuck it, you're a bunch of tossers and I quit.

So basically teacher is dealing with a bunch of arsehole ADULTS and does basically nothing and now he's in trouble? I know he's teacher but he's teaching adults.

Every day I see the news, it's just how badly some labour minister is screwing something up. I don't think they've had 1 win their entire year plus in office which is pretty impressive. Even the Tories got a few wins here and there but Labour just comes off as actually retarded.

Guess we'll need to see which one of them will be the sacrificial lamb next because Starmer is clearly doing every possible to not leave his spot and the Labour back benchers have no spine.

The only thing - and I mean this with all sincerity, the only thing - that kept me teaching for as long as I did, was that my KPIs were based around safety, rather than grades. Because I was a lab manager subbing in as a teacher. If I lacked the ability to just eject someone from my classes for good - and have them hauled out by the security we had on site - I'd have walked out day three and not come back. Teaching retarded 16-18 year olds is like slapping your ballsack into a fan on a boiling hot day.

News is saying yesterdays flight was canceled because 1 single person lodged a legal complaint. So why couldn't they deport all of the others at least? It makes no sense.

Probably because they don't actually want to. They cave to the weakest of weak objections, which means all the others are still tied up in legal flummery and haven't even had tickets booked yet.

I've reconsidered my last post. Clives right. I don't care if they're killed or deported, as long as they're gone and never coming back. We'll convert all our disused sheds into gas chambers with air tight wooden doors.
