I figured this warrants its own thread. The developers for the emulator ShadPS4 have made inhuman progress on getting the long-wanted game Bloodborne playable on the PC.

Within a matter of weeks, they have gone from only being able to boot up the main menu in a ghastly red filter, to the game being "playable" albeit with broken textures and lighting, another caveat being a (soft) requirement to remove as many unnecessary assets from the game as possible to get it running okay.

I expect the Snoys to be coming out in full force against this project, you know the ones who play Twitter more than they play their games. I'd go check but I don't have a Twitter account — I refuse to sign up for a site that won't let me look at it unless I do.

Unironically already running better than the PS4

It is worth mentioning all the mods already in play like the fast travels from any lantern.

It's in a playable state sure, but at what cost? Dig through assets and individually delete them? It's not in a plug-and-play state, which would at least imply PS4 emulation is ready for the consumer. But still, good to see it finally getting somewhere.

Yeah, it's nowhere near ready for the average player, but they've come so far in so little time that it's bound to be a reality within a year or two. It shouldn't have been the fans' responsibility to preserve (and ultimately improve) this game.

Incredibly excited to see this develop into a more playable state. I'm sure many people are in a similar situation: out of all the Souls games, Bloodborne has been the one I've never been able to try because I refuse to purchase a PS4 just to play one game. A friend of mine gave it a try, and according to him, loading screens seem to be the biggest source of crashes, but otherwise the FPS of the game runs just fine. I'm really hoping nothing drastic happens that forces development to stop, i.e. copyright issues.

You aren't missing much. The majority of posts about it are people excited to see the development and/or people complaining (rightfully) about Sony, The only negative posts I've seen are people clearly trying to farm engagement.

I completely agree. The fact its not one of the Steam-exclusive PC ports is ludicrous. Watch as they suddenly backpedal and release one in response to this.

I wish, but there's no chance Sony would allow Demon's Souls or Bloodborne to get PC ports. That would actually be a smart business move and easy money, two things Sony isn't interested in. Maybe 20 years from now when all the senior leadership is retired or dead.

Yeah, the only way you can play it now without buying a PS4 is to get a premium PSN subscription which is an awful barebones platform since you get lag from streaming the game to your PC and it doesn't include the DLC. I tried it and I didn't think it was worth the cost unless there are a ton of other games they have that you want to play.

I mean, considering we have a majority of the other Sony exclusives on Steam, its more likely than you think. Fingers crossed.

And despite that, Bloodborne is still unavailable and there are zero signs it'll ever be ported. Saying "it's more likely than you think" is baseless cope. If they were going to do it, they would have done it because it would have sold like gangbusters. Here we are a decade later without so much as a peep. They know full well it's the only PS4 game that got PC fags to buy consoles and they're desperate to replicate that success. They'd sooner release another Bluepoint abortion of a remake to sell reddit niggers PS6s than release it on PC.

Honestly? Nah, the game that got everyone to buy a PS4 (same as they do for every other console) was the best selling exclusive, in this case God of War, then they fucked you over by making it a PC port. If this is the angle you're throwing, I can just throw one back while you go "reddit nigger" to every opinion you don't like. Still, I agree with you in the back of my mind.

Did you think I was calling you a reddit nigger? That wasn't my intention. I'm just calling your speculation baseless. Why is it likely? Tell me.

Gentlemen, you're both reddit niggers.

Even if sony actually releases a PC version, it will be infested with their garbage PSN requirement. Whats more likely is they will get bluepoint to shit it up with a garbage remaster destroying the visual identity like they did to Demon's Souls, then release that on PC, complete with the PSN fuck you on top.
