Made it to the final battle today and I'm a little overwhelmed; I have most of the possible allies but don't want to waste them, any recommendations on the best ones? The mind flayers guarding the crown are proving to be the biggest nuisance for me, so I'm assuming it's wisest to take them out first.

Only have the Underdark left for the first act but I had a realization: I don't give a shit about the plot and characters. It's a combination of DnD's insane world building and the game being in a set setting. Basically everything is insanely convoluted with the billion races and realms everywhere, and you are guaranteed to not make a change in the world since it's a canon DnD setting, and most of the characters backstories is also completely unrelated to the main conflict. Hopefully it gets better, but after getting over the autism of having a lot of shit to do, I realize there is very little reason to do role playing.

Honestly, I only sent my Mind Flayer PC and Orpheus up to the brain and had everyone else hang back and just fight at spawn without touching the brain and causing the tentacles to spawn. As for allies, I used Yurgir since he can go invisible, attack, and then go invisible again.
I spread everyone at spawn out enough that enemies wouldn’t target multiple opponents.

I was essentially just using whatever I had that hit hardest/all the high spell scrolls I saved and trying to attack far off enemies that were on the path I would eventually take.

I love this fucking game. I just got to Akabi. Fucking lol. I feel bad for anyone who doesn't go into this game blind and instead reads guides and walkthroughs to min-max and scum their way through the game.

Jesus Christ I finally made it to act 3 and I feel like I've missed so much shit. Also my party looks retarded, I wish I had more decent looking armor, everyone is in a weird mishmashed set of whatever I could scrounge up.

Using dyes to make the colors match can do a lot to help it look better.

I had no idea Astarion could just tell you he was a vampire. In a different playthrough he didn't try to bite me, but in this one he tried to even after he told me. I thought the dialogue would change to something like 'i thought I could trust you not to bite me' or something along the lines of that but it was just the usual stuff. At least when everyone woke up they didn't say anything about being surprised he was a vampire, just about his biting.

Finally got to Act 3 without my saves being destroyed. I met the trannymancer.

The sheer scale of content in the city is a bit overwhelming, I feel like everywhere I go theres a storyline. Also seeing the most minor of characters from the first act having quests and story arcs is really cool. I am so glad I helped Rolan, because he came in pretty clutch for a certain battle.

Ya know, I was excited for this game, having absolutely loved the first 2. Then I found out it was Baldur's Gate in name only, cashing in on the name while not continuing the story of the originals or sharing the same gameplay. That killed a good chunk of my interest, but I might have given it a chance.

But the degenerate coomerbait and unnecessary sex scenes with butt ugly models kinda killed whatever interest I had left in it. Not going to reward this sort of shit.

Didn't have to say anything else to tell us you didn't play the game btw.
You shouldn't read the rest of the thread as well btw.
Oh, so they DIDN'T completely change the storyline from the events surrounding the Bhaalspawn to a random fuckoff adventure with Mind Flayers? And they didn't change the real time with pause gameplay into pure turn based?

Because they literally did both of these things. The only thing this game has in common with the others is the setting, the name, and the fact that they shoved in some memberberries like Minsc and Boo despite the fact that he should have died like 100 years ago but they just decided, nah they got turned into statues because we need a memberberry!

1. You know DnD isn't actually RtWP right? Also are you really going to praise BG1/2 for it's combat?
2. You know the bhaalspawn crisis predates the time of troubles right? Also that 3 is 2 before 5.

So again, don't actually read the thread, you might actually find something to complain about. Like Act 4. Oh right also the trannymancer

So because a tabletop game is limited by the need to take turns and roll dice every game in the setting needs to artificially recreate the gameplay of a TTRPG despite the gameplay of a TTRPG being kind of out of necessity? That's like saying we should only live in caves with sticks and rocks for tech because that's how we started out.
I'd much rather pause, issue orders, unpause and watch my dudes do their shit than slowly watch the faggots on screen repeat the same 2-3 animations over and over again for 10 minutes.

And no, the Bhaalspawn crisis does NOT predate the Time of Troubles, the Time of Troubles (which occurred in 1358 DR) is what LED to Bhaal being killed by Cyric which is what kicked off the Bhaalspawn crisis in 1369 DR. And even if it did predate it, your point being what? If game 1 and 2 in X Series follow the same events, I expect game 3 in X Series to continue those events as well. It'd be like not expecting Halo 3 to continue the events of Halo 2.

Yes, because that's how the rulesets work. If you want RTwP maybe don't base your house in a fucking cave system.

Okay and? I like RTwP too, but expecting this shit after the EA has been years old and then coming back to bitch about it is fucking funny.

Whichever fucking one where mystra died again to cause the spellplague that nerfed magic in 4E. Whatever I don't give a shit.
Since you know the fucking chronology. Can you tell everyone when 5E started?

Spoilers: It's not in 1400 DR. Probably.

No, I can't, because I stopped paying attention to D&D when that faggy ass 4th edition came out.
Anyway, my point being I thought I was going to get a proper sequel to the older games. Once I found out this was not the case it killed most of my interest in it. Then when they decided to chase the degenerate coombrain and LGBTfaggot audience it nuked whatever interest I had left.

You know the game is a hundred years old in lore but you expected it to somehow magically start off from systems that don't exist anymore to specifically mould to your needs and wants.

Like did you really hold out a candle for... a decade after being bootyblasted by fags? lmao.

Did you at least go to their discord during EA and bitch to the devs? I did and I got what I wanted (muscle man body type and insane modability). Apparently someone wanted bear sex too cuz of course.

Speaking of I remember asking the devs why turn-based instead of RTwP cuz kingmaker/wotr was fresh in everyone's minds and they said the same exact thing I said: That the system is already established as turn-based with some caveats:

-Their licensing is ass, apparently in the beginning they can only use PHB. It might've gotten better later on but still, the thing involved VERY STRINGENT shit.
-They're basing their engine on their previous games via DoS 1/2. Therefore turn-based. They didn't want to expand onto something new for this one, especially after dragon commander and whatever the spinoff was.
*This was also why barrelmancy and floor effects was so insane back then. We complained and wouldn't you know it, they fixed it. It's why while this dev is inevitably going to turn into wokeshit, they still get leeway for the goodwill they've done specifically to me. I know trannies are going to fuck this up eventually, but I'm not going to go doomer because some retards in skirts like yelling like faggots.
