I disagree with this as a general principle. It can matter if you're supposed to be disgusted by the fucked up stuff or not, if it's meant to be horrifying (e.g. homosexual child-on-child rape in MW) or "funny" (tee hee don't be late to school, don't forget to feed the cat, don't be alone with rapist grandpa, all normal parts of growing up ~*~*~*) or "titillating". I'd pick dead babies over that club-footed troon pose every time.If the sight of that makes you uncomfortable you should just not watch or read Berserk.
Cause you will see much more fucked up stuff than that. Like rape, death of children and what happens to Guts as a child.
I read Alabaster. Thank you for the recommendation. What a ride! The beginning is based as fuckthat is from his phase where he was trying to compete with Ishinomori and other Gekiga authors. He even talks about it in one of his afterwords I think in the end of my favorite work of his (Alabaster). He looks back at this with shame
- nigger proposes to a woman, gets rejected
- strangles her
- she escapes
- he steals a car
- chases her despite not knowing how to drive
- kills a pedestrian, doesn't give a fuck about it
- gets 5 years in prison for killing the guy and driving without a license (not for attacking the woman or stealing the car)
- "bawww the world discriminates against me just because of my skin color"
- strangles her

I wish Tezuka showed more of the affected animals and humans, I love batshit visuals and I love when the author has the courage to completely overhaul the world and show the consequences.
