The best advice to watching an anime is the three episodes rule. If you aren't really interested in an anime by the time you get to the third episode (but not enough not caring to drop it outright) then just let go.
Very very rarely you'll have something that's take several episodes to get good.
I kind of disagree on the grounds that there have been shows that you could of dropped on the first or second episode instead of forcing yourself to watch till the third
Your better of dropping a series as soon as it feels like a chore to keep watching regardless of what episode your on, most of the time it happens on episode 3 which is probably where the rule came from but like I said there have been shows that it happened on 1-2 and ngl there are some series I dropped at or near the final episode.

That's what I meant by not dropping it outright. Though some shows do take the two first episodes to set up (or get to the WOW moment).

Has anyone watched the anime called 86? It's some scifi mecha type show. I don't understand how it's so well rated. The characters are forgettable. You have an annoying loli, perpetually sulking emo guy, background noise girl characters, and a story with many plot holes that don't make sense at all. Why is it highly rated on MAL?

It had a cute girl, competent directing, the fight scenes aren't that shabby, and due to being one of the few recent mech shows its competition was either completely ignored or Kyoukai Senki.
It probably got a bump from being a light novel adaption instead of an anime original or connected to some property, as well.
Personally, I thought it was okay but as far as ln mecha adaptions go I would have rather had another season of Heavy Object.

Ah, Kyoukai Senki, the result of a bunch of people shouting over each other in front of a few confused Sunrise execs. It could be like Code Geass with AI and information warfare instead of magic, but instead it has character designs aimed at shotacon-loving fujos (plus a few dudes who look like Yugioh rejects), a bland as hell MC who pretty much just wanders around, spending half the show focusing on a knockoff of Graham Aker and his crew from Gundam 00 S1 whose story arc is pretty much the same, and a message that amounts to "stop watching this show and go learn a useful skill, preferably traditional."

My favorite episode is the one where all they do is just fix up a village. Forget all the intrigue between factions, brutal not!Chinese warlords running human trafficking rings, or all the backstabbing, let's just watch the cast fix up a village and teach kids that traditional Japanese pottery is fun. That has to be seen to be believed.

At least the fight scenes are cool, I loved the way they blended strategy, information, and just straight out brutal gunplay. It felt vaguely "realistic" at times (at least until they introduced the one that flies around and uses a naginata).

For sure, some anime takes up several episodes before we get to the point where what makes it great.

Kyoukai Senki had potential, but they squandered it. It felt like reading a weekly manga from an up-and-coming mangaka who will be axed in like 40-50 chapters.

Golden Kamui’s ending was okay. I think everyone wanted Tsurumi to win or come out ahead, Aspiria’s ending just feels kinda disingenuous. The whole Wilk-Ainu thing feels like it should of been called retarded, it’s forcing a situation where the Ainu piss off both Russia and Japan.
It’s the sad reality that Hunter-Gatherer/ Indigenous/ Stone Age groups face destruction or assimilation( same thing as destruction, but slower).

For those that don’t know, Toshinori Sugabe‘s Yankee Jk Kuzuhana-Chan hit 100 chapters almost a month ago, and I wouldn’t be mad if this managed to get an anime adaptation, since it’d pretty funny,

He’s responsible for this gem:

How do people feel about the current season? Mainly asking cause I think that it is pretty great, since a lot of good as, well as different shows are airing.
Spy X Family, Summertime Rendering and Couple of Cuckoos are decent adaptations of good manga.
Ao Ashi and Dance Dance Danseur are good sport anime.
And we get two new adaptations of classic manga in form of Bastard!!! and Spriggan.

Finally got off my ass and watched Revolutionary Girl Utena in one sitting. I never like incest in a plot but it was easy enough to stomach. I liked some of the swordfights and the animation overall was nice, but I found the story more boring than the messages I think it was trying to convey. I get why it's hailed as a classic and why people write essays about it, but it's definitely overrated imo.

Shit should I have just watched Rose of Versailles instead

It gave us a movie that has a scene that I will forever describe as the ‘lesbian carwash scene’ and is one of the funniest things I have ever scene just for the level of wtf. Utena is pretty good.

Yes. Good stuff that.

I'm reading a volume of a Lupin manga. This is the first time I've seen Jigen's full face lol and I don't know how to feel.

You really should've.

It's a mixed bag, but majority of the shows are great.

I kinda want to start an anime review channel called Mister Anime, and then pretend that I don't read the reviews or that I've somehow missed all of the ones telling me to change my name.

If you're serious about that, start shit-flinging at various popular fandoms of well-known anime you're talking about. But make it funny pease.

watched 5 episodes Netflix' Tiger & Bunny and it's literally just characters talking about their feels and how it's wrong to disrespect someone's gender and name... I honestly don't care about the plot because I'm so bored. WHY was this made??? Also Agnes is fat for whatever reason but kinda like her

That's a shame. I liked the character designs by Masakazu Katsura and found it funny that the superheroes are walking advertisements. Is the first season just as bad? Turns out the gender stuff was added in the dubbed version, it's not in the subtitled version. Localization rears it's ugly head once again.

Oh no, it's good pre-Kikeflex
and her relationship with the primary protagonist is actually pretty great
