Netflix gave them pity "courtesy" auditions just to please fans and get Spike, Amanda, Tiffany, and the rest of the OG cast to sign non-disclosure agreements to not shit on them or the dub when it came out.

They clearly wanted to cast "fresh blood" (read: cheap actors) for this redub. Asuka's VA has literally had no other acting roles in anything ever (I'm not fucking joking, this is her first role) and it fucking shows, since every dramatic scene in this dub sucks ASS. Nobody could scream. Nobody could cry. Nobody could emote. Seriously, these new voice acting choices have got to be the result of industry-cliquing and dicksucking.

Tranny Shinji? Sounds like gollum half of the fucking time, especially when he screams. Misato's new voice is literally the actress doing her Satsuki Kiryuin voice (which is basically the only voice she can really do). And the worst part of all of it is that they have no individuality.

This dub and its handling is so fucking bad that it's even making Funimation look good for keeping most of the (available) original voice actors.

I mean, for Godssakes, they were too cheap to buy the rights to Fly Me to the Moon, and replaced it with a song from the OST that likely was included in the price of the rights to buy the show. What a cheap slipshod hackjob.

Netflix should never be allowed to buy the rights to or dub an anime ever again. Netflix should never have anything to do with anime ever again.

Here are two clips from the new English version for my fellow sub fags and others who just can't be arsed to sit through Netflix's version:
If somebody had told me that the Netflix version was the old and supposedly inferior version and I hadn't known what Shinji Spencer sounded like, I would have believed it.

The sheer autism of twitter for Evangelion is amazing, from people bitching about the dub (is horrible but i never watch dubs) to practically saying that Netflix just murdered million of trannies by downplaying the gayness of Kaworu, come the fuck on, they just changed Love for Like, but no they wanted buttfucking and hand holding in evangelion, just pirate it nigger if you dont like this version, btw JPN Netflix got the good version with Fly me to the moon

The official reason was because they could not pay the royalties of Fly me to the moon in every region so we got the gimped edition, there were rumors that there was no plan of releasing Evangelion world wide but netflix pushed the license even when they did not manage to get the original dubs in every region (latam got hit the hardest, that was one of the pinnacles of old school dubs here i did not give a shit im fan of megumi ogata since forever) the English one apparently was a rush job, Japan got the blu ray voices so no one cared

Far as i have checked they are using a mostly new translation in the subtitles but with the old terms that only existed when the anime was being aired, for example they are using Nerv and that is correct (to verify it in episode 1 check the book that Shinji is holding), it was only after the anime that NERV become a acronym, same as EVA (they are using Eva) you can see those differences if you check things like the official Super robot taisen script or check Gainax merchandise, so no, they are not the absolute shitfest horror that twitter make you believe and i remember because i did QC and proof reading to the blu ray version and Rebuild for a latin american fansub

Edit: talked with the old crew, they are laughing hysterically because our rival fansub back in the day actually put in the spanish subs "like" and we put "love" because i told them, that is what kaworu say in the Latin american dub

Also,it's funny how every single dub broadcasted in any country kept Fly Me To The Moon but suddenly the biggest streaming service in the world that paid 100 Million to keep having Friends couldn't afford a freaking song...
Also,Asuka's new voice is literally a nobody.Her IMDB page is almost empty!This isn't even her first anime,it's her first voice-acting job!

EDIT:HA!Keel is voiced by one of this forum's biggest fans!

Expect the classic "nerds harassed me for ruining their anime boohooo woe is me", and would be very ironic because of what happened to the original Asuka JP seiyuu ,she was harassed by creeps when they were hardcore and not the ones that you see on the internet, apparently Anno has to practically beg her to reprise her in Rebuild

Original dub or bust, no one care about other dub that is not the one that was broadcasted by Locomotion, back in the day there was a project on fansubs to try to find rips of the audio of locomotion to put them in the dvd rips, i dont know if it was successful

That is why the rumor about this being a rushed job because Netflix wanted first takes force, the dub was rushed, they did not gave a damn about licenses the thing was to put evangelion ASAP, like i said the only way to enjoy it on Netflix is with the original japanese audio, there is no reason for what you should care about that horrendous new dub

I found all the Locomotion audios on the internet.Hell,they are avaliable on the old ADV Perfect DVDs(the original French dub is also included)
