IIRC, that's why CinemaSins has the whole "We're not film critics, we're just nitpicking assholes" thing. They've said time and time again that they're not real critics and it's all a joke but so many people still fall for it.

The Nostalgia Critic has been without the edge for nearly three years now. Before Doug Walker took sketches seriously, he stuck with a simpler approach of just grabbing shitty movies and dressing them with garbage. As his confidence in his own filmmaking abilities increases, the quality of his reviews decreases.

When he's a full-blown filmmaker and making things like Kickassia, it fosters some of the most severe miscarriages of art I have ever witnessed.

I'm guessing that's because of how impressionable people can be especially when CinemaSins rips into movies their fans want see ripped into (live-action Transformers, Batman v. Superman, etc.) just so they can comment in agreement.

His use of American Bad Ass is offensive and embarrassing. That alone means he should stop talking... or breathing for awhile.

At least he kept his shit short (and he doesn't sound completely grating to me...THIS TIME.), but the least he could do is not go after easy or obvious targets that have been bitched about to death. Just some honest advice if he's gonna keep this crap his up.

But his voice is probably the most annoying thing i've ever heard.

Strider wouldn't be so bad if he didn't do the same thing over and over again, bitch about the same cartoons over and over, then praise to the high heavens Steven Universe/Star is evil/whatever and acts like there aren't any good cartoons outside those...

Steven Universe and Star Vs. are some of the most overrated BS out there - just a bunch of fake anime BS that needs to go the fuck away... As for the fucker in question himself, however - he could stand to find more and better shit to watch than that - not saying examples, just saying he needs to stop following the popular crowd and find his own voice if he wants his shitty views and viewpoints to ever be relevant to people who can appreciate not just what's buzzworthy right now, thus leading to actual development of taste, for one positive outcome... With this guy, all I see right now is another suck-up to the "Can't or won't criticize or ridicule because it's popular" bandwagon(s) the internet is being ruined with, that really need to go off a cliff, burning already.

...Also, 12 oz. Mouse is God's gift to an unappreciative mankind, if you ask me!

Yeah, while Strider's dislikes seem earnest, there's something hollow about the films/shows he likes. Like he talks about Korra, Steven Universe, etc etc mostly because they're what's "in" at the moment, all these shows that are "deconstructive" and "socially progressive", and if he doesn't show his like of the shows he'll be seen as a dirty white male who wants to keep the wymmin and POKs down and such.

It's funny because the shows he likes, I'm not a huge fan of (both are bad for their own reason, which I won't get into for the sake of the thread). And a lot of the stuff he dislikes (Breadwinners, Nutshack, TTG, Angela Anaconda...) are also shallow opinions just rehashed from literally everyone else on the internet. Like he's completely unable to even come up with his own opinions.

It's painfully obvious in his Disney Top 10 best films, where he almost barely acknowledges the films from Walt's era (presumably because they're too racist and "problematic" (see how much he excuses himself for liking Mary Poppins- i.e.. "Travers hated it" and "it's an old 60s movie, therefore it sucks")) or the princess films (sexist/racist/"I roll my eyes when i hear the words "love story"" blah blah). The only princess films in his list are the ones that feminists like (Mulan, Frozen) and the one everybody likes and if you don't you'll look like a fool (Beauty and the Beast, but even then he had to excuse himself for that one). And then it's just modern crap that everybody on the Internet loves (Inside Out, The Lion King, Hunchback, Zootopia).

Although, the more I think of it, Strider, Doug, and others like Animat Lindsay and Erod have the same exact tastes when it comes to Disney films and cartoons (they all love Frozen and Steven Universe etc)...It's really bizarre.

I guess a proper term for these guys wouldn't be "internet critics" anymore but "bandwagon critics" Ie: "If many people like it, then it must be good!" You don't really see anymore critics with genuine appreciation with their top 10s or favorite movies, and instead just obsess over fads.

pardon my sperginess in this post.

Yeah it seems like he only likes these shows because it's the popular opinion. The only time TMK that he went against the consensus about a cartoon was when he said he didn't like Scott Tenorman Must Die, albeit he still included it in the honorable mentions of his Top 10 best South Park episodes probably because he didn't want to completely piss off his fans.

Or he doesn't get that if you don't like something, you don't make it a "honorable mention".

:SIGH: I really do wish more people propped up less popular / noteworthy or good bad shows, to be brutally honest, just like how there are those out there who do this for movies, which is a nice change of pace. Maybe then I wouldn't feel so annoyed and uncomfortable talking about cartoons in general I actually give a damn about - E.G. shit that isn't popular / noteworthy, but still fun to watch and entertaining enough for me to care about it years and years from now over BS fads that I'll be happy to yell "GOOD RIDDANCE" to, once they're gone and have faded out, like they deserve, for having no real substance or true appeal to make me want to remember or respect them.

Yes, I know I'm sperging like all hell right not. No, there were no fucks given at all when I decided to say these things on my mind.

One thing is clear to me - I refuse to call any of these fuckers who do this shit critics of any kind any time soon, or anymore, for that extreme sense of matter.

Or just wear a hat. Anything to cover that shit up.
Think that's what was meant by "Heisenberg that shit up".

And I don't see the appeal of these "angry" Internet critics. Picking my chickenpox scabs at age seven was more fun than watching these pieces of dreck.

Just do what I do: use your brain/good judgment to filter out the crap and save the great to decent or find recommendations in meatspace. Who cares what these Internet critics think?

Why are grown men watching cartoons made for 8 year olds and holding them to the standards of high art
Kids like fart jokes and random shit, it's just the current popular style of comedy with da childrens, like there's a reason Steven Universe isn't very popular with it's target demographic (of children, not tumblristas) because they just ain't interested.
Also I have a feeling cartoon reviewers put more thought into cartoons than the people who write the cartoons which is probably due to the raging autism

My reaction. It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't make every single list of his he makes with a small ending where he "praises" these shows and acts as if they're the best thing to ever happen to humanity.

Speaking of positive Strider

I will praise him for bringing up The Mr. Hell Show, and the other mentions are indeed pretty good (besides Gumball, that's his modern bullshit entry) but I would have mentioned Monkey Dust, an actually amazing animation that still garners chuckles to this day. Also, shit editing and ANNOYING VOICE.

Who's Bernie by the way? It's BONI, dumbfuck!

Because this is the internet and people crave attention.

I mean sure, adults used to watch stuff like Looney Tunes and the like, but last I checked, the only ones who held it to any high standards were animation buffs, not manchildren who sperg on and on about how "ZOMG BREADWINNERS IZ AZZ!" Though nowadays, that would be the case.

Eh, Gumball's okay. But I'd hesitate to consider it on the level of something like Duckula.
