How is it that among Animation spergs "critics", Strider's the one who's objectively the most pleasant to look at? Give or take the mammoth eyebrows and bug eyes, he's fit, clean-shaven and I could maybe believe he has a girlfriend. However, when your competition includes Enter and 03bgood, that's not really saying a whole lot.

His usual sperging and getting angry over nothing (i mean, Two and a half men is too "mean spirited"? does he not get it?) aside, i gotta give him applause for once not talking about Steven Universe/cartoons/kid's shows. Though I feel he stole too much from Brad Jones...

I will pay that fucker $50 to sit through an entire episode of Always Sunny.

Where to begin with this? Well he's not reviewing cartoons, which is a nice change, I guess. And yet, it still comes off as overly spergy and rambly. Then he includes stuff like Henry Danger and Hannah Montana with shit no one probably knows of like Oops or Cavemen (assuming they haven't watched the DVD-R Hell episode). And even goes for the lowest hanging fruit of them all next to Big Bang Theory- 2 and a Half Men. It really feels he only skimmed a list of sitcoms, watched one-2 episodes and based his opinions on them. Hell, does he realize that Heil Honey's just a pilot episode?

And of course Fred is his no. 1. Why is that not surprising? Oh, right.

I'm actually surprised that people are still making him relevant. All I knew about Fred was just some extremely old news about nigahiga passing Fred in terms of YouTube subscribers and that's about it. That and three Fred movies, and they are pretty old to the point I actually forgot about him until someone brought him up.

On another note, JonTron has really gone downhill nowadays. There, I said it.

He was only working with three other people before StarCade, two of the Continue! guys, and a title card artist/musician.
Now he has around ten people working with him, such as PsychicPebbles, the h3h3 couple, among others. It just seems like there are too many cooks stirring the stew.

I think it's also possible that his trying to find a new style, even though that's not going too well, imo.

I think the two reviewers that I have mad respect for is Critikal and Mr. Plinkett. Critikal tries to donate all of his Youtube money to various charities and even though he more or less uses the same monotone voice for 6 years in all his videos he does mix up his formula a bit: commenting on Youtube drama without being a total ass, reviewing movies under his "Splash TV" monkier, etc. Plinkett is just Plinkett, and what's good about RedLetterMedia is that he doesn't shit out 20 minute reviews every week, he has like 2-3 hour reviews every few months.

I still have mad respect for James as well. All three of these guys are unique in the "reviewing" community and they don't try to be money grubbing whores or try to become mainstream Youtubers.

Rolfe just has an odd charm with his videos, which is weird since i'm not much of a gamer and the poop jokes can be hit or miss.

But, compared to Pewpewpie or Doug or Strider, it just feels more authentic. These other guys feel like they try too hard to pander and be onto topical stuff (think the new Simpsons episodes that they try so hard to be relevant with pop culture references).

The Skateboard Kid review was great. Dark Dungeons was good, more informative than anything. The Disney Bootlegs was fantastic. Come on, how could this be him going downhill?

The Howling 2 review wasn't so great but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The Skateboard Kid review was great.
Eh it was alright, but could've done better.

Dark Dungeons was good, more informative than anything.
That one is actually pretty good, I'll give you that.

The Disney Bootlegs was fantastic.
Honestly, I don't really like this one. Having the joke very similar to Vinesauce Joel's reaction to Jungle Book NES Bootleg is pretty meh and some of them are already done before and beaten to death (such as the Elsa Frozen Surgery and Snow White and 7 Clever Boys, with latter already done by Caddicarus with his "Back to Menu" joke already repeated but much more abused).

And recently, Jon made a review about Howling II, which is okay, but could've done better and even Spoony did a better job at it. Jon did make some okayish points in his review but the rest is just unfunny random access shock humor (e.g. HAHA ISIS VIDS THE HORROR LOL)

To be honest I think Jon is doing just fine. And I like that he's now branching out from the typical video game reviewing stuff that's super common on Youtube and now focusing on weird films and bootlegs and such. It helps bring to light the crazy schlock that no one's heard about before.

The beauty of what Jon does is that he can literally do anything. He can just do weird sketches, he can review whatever, he's not beholden to some retro-gamer ethos or whatever bullshit.

I kinda have the feeling that Strider is somewhat similar to Linkara, in that they patronize and have moralistic attitudes and chastise everything that's immoral, but I'm pretty sure he has a few skeletons in his closet. jerks off to Steven Universe pron maybe

And he seems sorta a faux-feminist/SJW just to get asspats from people. He's one step away from saying shows are satanic and turning our kids violent and into witchcraft.

Who's to say he doesn't do that off camera?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: How Jon came to be in this thread is questionable, at best. He's not angry or even "angry," more permanently befuddled and awed by the things he covers.

I think the trend of them being "angry" has kind of died out, so this is more of a general internet reviewer thread.

I guess the reviewers that I like on a pure entertainment level would be Decker Shado (I just watched most of his Summer of Freddy vs Jason reviews, and on an entertainment level they're not too bad in my opinion), Cinema Snob, Caddicarus, Jontron (I honestly thought that I wouldn't like the type of humor on his show, but he makes it somehow charming/natural), and YMS.

However, the only online reviewers that I actually found to be insightful would be Red Letter Media (If they went to film school or something of the sort, I'd believe it) and sometimes YMS.

Then again, I've only recently started watching online reviewers again.

Both Mike and Jay went to film school.
